7. Al-A'raf

இன்னும், (அவர்களிடம்) நீங்கள் இவ்வூரில் குடியிருங்கள், இதில் நீங்கள் நாடிய இடத்திலெல்லாம் உண்ணுங்கள், ஹித்ததுன் (எங்கள் பாவச் சுமை நீங்குக!) என்று கூறுங்கள், (அதன்) வாயிலில் தலை தாழ்த்தியவர்களாகவும் நுழையுங்கள், நாம் உங்களுடைய குற்றங்களை உங்களுக்கு மன்னித்துவிடுவோம், நன்மை செய்வோருக்கு (அதன் கூலியை) நாம் அதிகப்படுத்துவோம்” என்று அவர்களுக்குக் கூறப்பட்டபோது

And (remember) when it was said to them: "Dwell in this town (Jerusalem) and eat therefrom wherever you wish, and say, ‘(O Allâh) forgive our sins’; and enter the gate prostrate (bowing with humility). We shall forgive you your wrong-doings. We shall increase (the reward) for the good-doers."

அவர்களில் அநியாயம் செய்தோர் அவர்களுக்குக் கூறப்பட்டதல்லாத (வேறு) வார்த்தையாக (அதை) மாற்றி விட்டார்கள், ஆகவே (இவ்வாறு) அவர்கள் அநியாயம் செய்ததன் காரணமாக நாம் அவர்கள்மீது வானத்திலிருந்து வேதனையை இறக்கி வைத்தோம்.

But those among them who did wrong changed the word that had been told to them. So We sent on them a torment from the heaven in return for their wrong-doings.¹

மேலும், (நபியே) கடலோரத்திலிருந்த ஓர் ஊர் (மக்களைப்)பற்றி நீர் அவர்களைக் கேட்பீராக! (தடுக்கப்பட்ட நாளாகிய) சனிக்கிழமையன்று (மீன் பிடிப்பது தடுக்கப்பட்டிருந்தும்) அவர்கள் வரம்புமீறி (மீன் பிடித்து)க் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள், ஏனென்றால், சனிக்கிழமையன்று (அக்கடலிலிருந்து) மீன்கள் நீர்மட்டத்திற்கு மேலாக தங்கள் தலைகளை நீட்டிக் கொண்டு அவர்கள் முன் வந்தன, சனிக்கிழமையல்லாத நாட்களில் அவர்களிடம் அவை வருவதில்லை, இவ்வாறு அவர்கள் பாவங்கள் செய்து கொண்டிருந்ததன் காரணத்தால் அவர்களை நாம் சோதனைக்குள்ளாக்கினோம்.

And ask them (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) about the town that was by the sea; when they transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath (i.e. Saturday): when their fish came to them openly on the Sabbath day, and did not come to them on the day they had no Sabbath. Thus We made a trial of them, for they used to rebel against Allâh’s Command (disobey Allâh) [see the Qur’ân: V.4:154 and its footnote].

இன்னும், அவர்களில் ஒரு சாரார் (நல்லுபதேசம் செய்தவர்களிடம்) “அல்லாஹ் எவர்களை அழித்துவிடுகிறவனாக அல்லது அவர்களை கடினமான வேதனையாக வேதனை செய்கிறவனாக இருக்கின்றானோ அந்த மக்களுக்கு நீங்கள் ஏன் நல்லுபதேசம் செய்கிறீர்கள்” என்று கூறியபொழுது அவர்கள், இதனால் நாம் உங்கள் இரட்சகனிடம் (நம்) பொறுப்பிலிருந்து நீங்கி விடுவதற்காகவும் (அதனால் மீன் பிடிக்கும்) அவர்கள் (ஒருக்கால் தவறிலிருந்து விலகி அல்லாஹ்வை) அஞ்சி விடலாம்” என்பதற்காகவும் (நாங்கள் உபதேசம் செய்கிறோம்) எனக் கூறினார்கள்.

And when a community among them said: "Why do you preach to a people whom Allâh is about to destroy or to punish with a severe torment?" (The preachers) said: "In order to be free from guilt before your Lord (Allâh), and perhaps they may fear Allâh."

பின்னர் அவர்களுக்கு எதுபற்றி நினைவுபடுத்தப்பட்டதோ அதை அவர்கள் மறந்து (மீன்பிடிக்க முற்பட்டு)விட்டபோது தீமை செய்வதிலிருந்து தடுத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தோரை நாம் காப்பாற்றினோம், அநியாயம் செய்தவர்களை அவர்கள் செய்து கொண்டிருந்த பாவத்தின் காரணமாக கொடிய வேதனையைக் கொண்டும் நாம் பிடித்துக் கொண்டோம்.

So when they forgot the remindings that had been given to them, We rescued those who forbade evil, but We seized those who did wrong with a severe torment because they used to rebel against Allâh’s Command (disobey Allâh).

ஆகவே, எதனைவிட்டும் அவர்கள் தடுக்கப்பட்டிருந்தனரோ அதனை விட்டும் அவர்கள் வரம்பு மீறியபோது “நீங்கள் இகழப்பட்டவர்களாக குரங்குகளாகி விடுங்கள்” என்று அவர்களுக்கு நாம் (சபித்துக்) கூறினோம்.

So when they exceeded the limits of what they were prohibited, We said to them: "Be you monkeys, despised and rejected."¹

1. It is a severe warning to the mankind that they should not disobey what Allâh commands them to do, and keep far away from what He prohibits them.*

மேலும், (நபியே!) உமதிரட்சகன்-அவர்களுக்குக் கொடிய வேதனை கொடுக்கக் கூடியவர்களையே அவர்கள்மீது (ஆதிக்கம் வகிக்கும்படி) இறுதிநாள் வரையில் அவன் நிச்சயமாக அனுப்பி வருவான் என்று (அவர்களுக்கு அறிவித்ததை நீர் அவர்களுக்கு நினைவூட்டுவீராக!) நிச்சயமாக உமதிரட்சகன் (அவனுக்கு மாறு செய்து வந்தோரை) தண்டிப்பதில் மிக்க தீவிரமானவன், மேலும் நிச்சயமாக (அவன்பால் மீளுகிறவர்களுக்கு) அவன் மிக்க மன்னிக்கிறவன் நிகரற்ற அன்புடையவன்.

And (remember) when your Lord declared that He would certainly keep on sending against them (i.e. the Jews), till the Day of Resurrection, those who would afflict them with a humiliating torment. Verily, your Lord is Quick in Retribution (for the disobedient, wicked) and certainly He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful (for the obedient and those who beg Allâh’s Forgiveness).

மேலும், அவர்களை இப்புவியில் பல கூட்டத்தினர்களாக நாம் பிரித்து விட்டோம், அவர்களிலிருந்து நல்லோர்களும் இருக்கின்றனர், இதுவல்லாத (பொல்லாதவர்களும்) அவர்களில் இருக்கின்றனர், அவர்கள் (பாவங்களிலிருந்து) மீளுவதற்காக நல்லவைகளைக் கொண்டும், தீயவைகளைக் கொண்டும் நாம் அவர்களைச் சோதித்தோம்.

And We have broken them (i.e. the Jews) up into various separate groups on the earth: some of them are righteous and some are away from that. And We tried them with good (blessings) and evil (calamities) in order that they might turn (to Allâh’s Obedience).

அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னர், அவர்களுடைய இடத்தை தீய ஒரு சாரார் அடைந்தனர், அவர்கள், (தவ்றாத்) வேதத்திற்கு அனந்தரக்காரர்களாக ஆனார்கள், இவ்வற்ப (உலகின்)பொருளைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டு வேதத்தை மாற்றி விட்டனர், (இதைப்பற்றி) “எங்களுக்கு மன்னிப்பளிக்கப்படும்” என்றும் கூறுகிறார்கள், (பின்னும் முன்போல் புரட்டுவதற்காக) இதேபோன்ற அற்பப்பொருள் அவர்களிடம் வருமானால், அதனை எடுத்துக் கொள்வார்கள், அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வின்மீது உண்மையைத் தவிர வேறு எதையும் கூறக்கூடாதென்று (அவர்களுடைய) வேதத்தின் மூலம் அவர்களிடம் உறுதிமொழி வாங்கப்படவில்லையா? அதில் உள்ளதை அவர்கள் ஓதியும் வருகின்றனர், (எனினும்) அவற்றை அவர்கள் பொருட்படுத்துவதில்லை.) மேலும் பயபக்தியுடையவர்களுக்கு, மறுமையின் வீடே மிக்க மேலானதாகும், நீங்கள் விளங்கிக் கொள்ளமாட்டீர்களா?”

Then after them succeeded an (evil) generation, which inherited the Book, but they chose (for themselves) the goods of this low life (evil pleasures of this world) saying (as an excuse): "(Everything) will be forgiven to us." And if (again) the offer of the like (evil pleasures of this world) came their way, they would (again) seize them (would commit those sins). Was not the covenant of the Book taken from them that they would not say about Allâh anything but the truth? And they have studied what is in it (the Book). And the home of the Hereafter is better for those who are Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - See V.2:2). Do not you then understand?

இன்னும், (இவ்வேதத்தைப் பலமாக)ப் பற்றிப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டு தொழுகையையும் நிறைவேற்றி வருகின்றார்களே அத்தகையோர்-(அதுபோன்ற) நல்லோர்களின் கூலியை நிச்சயமாக நாம் வீணாக்க மாட்டோம்.

And as to those who hold fast to the Book (i.e. act on its teachings) and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât ), certainly We shall never waste the reward of those who do righteous deeds.

மேலும், (‘ஸீனாய்’) மலையை அவர்களுக்கு மேல் அது நிழலைப்போன்று (இருக்க) நாம் உயர்த்திய சமயத்தில் நிச்சயமாக அ(ம்மலையான)து அவர்கள் மீது விழுந்து விடுமென்று அவர்கள் எண்ணி (பயந்த)னர், (அப்போது,) “நாம் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த (வேதத்)தைப் பலமாகப் பிடித்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள், இன்னும், அதிலுள்ளவற்றை (எப்பொழுதும் கவனத்தில் வைத்து) நினைவு கூருங்கள், (இன்னும் அதிலுள்ளவாறு நீங்கள் செயல்பட்டால்) நீங்கள் பயபக்தியுடையோர்களாகி விடலாம்” (என்று நாம் அவர்களுக்குக் கூறியதை நபியே! நீர் அவர்களுக்கு நினைவு கூர்வீராக!)

And (remember) when We raised the mountain over them as if it had been a canopy, and they thought that it was going to fall on them. (We said): "Hold firmly to what We have given you [i.e. the Taurât (Torah)], and remember that which is therein (act on its commandments), so that you may fear Allâh and obey Him."

(நபியே!) உமதிரட்சகன் ஆதமுடைய மக்களில் அவர்களுடைய முதுகுகளிலிருந்து அவர்களுடைய சந்ததிகளை (வெளியாக்கி) அவர்களைத் தங்களுக்கே சாட்சியாக்கி, (அவர்களிடம்) “நான் உங்கள் இரட்சகனல்லவா?” என்று (கேட்டு உடன்படிக்கையை) எடுத்த சமயத்தில் “ஆம் (நீதான் இரட்சகன், அதன் மீது) நாங்கள் சாட்சியம் கூறுகிறோம்” என்று அவர்கள் கூறியதை, (நீர் அவர்களுக்கு நினைவூட்டுவீராக! இது ஏனென்றால், “இதனை ஒருவரும் எங்களுக்கு நினைவூட்டாததனால்) நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் இதனை மறந்தவர்களாக இருந்துவிட்டோம்” என்று மறுமை நாளில் நீங்கள் சொல்லாதிருப்பதற்காக-

And (remember) when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam’s loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): "Am I not your Lord?" They said: "Yes! We testify," lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: "Verily, we have been unaware of this."

அல்லது, “இணையாக்கியதெல்லாம் (எங்களுக்கு முன்னிருந்த எங்கள் மூதாதையர்கள்தாம், நாங்களோ அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னுள்ள (அவர்களுடைய சந்ததியினராக இருக்கிறோம் - ஆகவே அந்த வழி கெட்டோர்கள் செய்தவற்றுக்காக நீ எங்களை அழித்துவிடலாமா?” என்று நீங்கள் சொல்லாமலிருப்பதற்காக (இதனை உங்களுக்கு நான் நினைவூட்டுகிறோம். என்று நபியே! நீர் கூறுவீராக!)

Or lest you should say: "It was only our fathers afortime who took others as partners in worship along with Allâh, and we were (merely their) descendants after them; will You then destroy us because of the deeds of men who practised Al-Bâtil (i.e. polytheism and committing crimes and sins, invoking and worshipping others besides Allâh)?" (Tafsir At-Tabarî).

மேலும், இவ்வாறே (நம்) வசனங்களை நாம் விவரிக்கிறோம், (இதன் மூலம்) அவர்கள் (பாவங்களிலிருந்து விடுபட்டு நம்மிடம்) திரும்புவதற்காகவும் (நாம் விவரித்துக் கூறுகிறோம்.)

Thus do We explain the Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail, so that they may turn (unto the truth).

நாம் எவனுக்கு நம் அத்தாட்சிகளைக் கொடுத்திருந்தோமோ, அத்தகையவனின் செய்தியை (யூதர்களாகிய) அவர்களுக்கு (நபியே! நீர்) ஒதிக் காண்பிப்பீராக! பின்னர், அவன் அதிலிருந்து கழன்று கொண்டான், ஆகவே. ஷைத்தான் அவனைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து சென்றான், எனவே, (அவனது சூழ்ச்சிக்குள் சிக்கி) அவன் வழி தவறியவர்களில் (ஒருவனாக) ஆகிவிட்டான்.

And recite (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) to them the story of him to whom We gave Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), but he threw them away; so Shaitân (Satan) followed him up, and he became of those who went astray.

மேலும், நாம் நாடியிருந்தால், (நம் அத்தாட்சிகளான) அவற்றைக் கொண்டு அவனை நாம் உயர்த்தியிருப்போம், எனினும் அவன் பூமியின் (ஆடம்பர வாழ்க்கையின்)பால் சாய்ந்துவிட்டான், தன் (மன) இச்சையையும் பின்பற்றி விட்டான், ஆகவே அவனுடைய உதாரணம்: (ஒரு) நாயின் உதாரணத்தை ஒத்திருக்கின்றது, நீர் அதனைத் துரத்தினாலும் நாக்கைத் தொங்கவிட்டுக் கொள்கிறது, அதனை(த் துரத்தாது) விட்டுவிட்டாலும் நாக்கைத் தொங்கவிட்டுக் கொள்கிறது, இதுவே., நம்முடைய வசனங்களைப் பொய்யாக்கினார்களே அந்தக் கூட்டத்தினர்க்கு உதாரணமாகும், ஆகவே, அவர்கள் சிந்தித்து நல்லுணர்வு பெருவதற்காக (இத்தகைய) வரலாற்றைக் கூறுவீராக!

And had We willed, We would surely have elevated him therewith but he clung to the earth and followed his own vain desire. So his parable is the parable of a dog: if you drive him away, he lolls his tongue out, or if you leave him alone, he (still) lolls his tongue out. Such is the parable of the people who reject Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). So relate the stories, perhaps they may reflect.

நம்முடைய வசனங்களைப் பொய்யாக்கிய கூட்டத்தாரின் உதாரணம் மிகக் கெட்டதாகும், அவர்கள் தமக்குத் தாமே அநியாயம் செய்கிறவர்களாகவும் இருந்தனர்.

Evil is the parable of the people who rejected Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses and signs, etc.), and used to wrong their ownselves.

அல்லாஹ் யாரை நேர்வழி செலுத்துகின்றானோ அவரே நேர்வழி அடைந்தவர், மேலும், எவரை அவன் வழி தவறச் செய்கிறானோ அத்தகையோர்தாம் நஷ்டவாளிகள்.

Whomsoever Allâh guides, he is the guided one, and whomsoever He sends astray,- then those! they are the losers.

திட்டமாக ஜின்களிலும், மனிதர்களிலும் அநேகரை நரகத்திற்காகவே நாம் படைத்திருக்கின்றோம், (அவர்கள் எத்தகையோரென்றால்,) அவர்களுக்கு இதயங்களிருக்கின்றன, அவற்றைக்கொண்டு (நல்லவற்றை) அவர்கள் விளங்கிக்கொள்ளமாட்டார்கள், அவர்களுக்கு கண்களுமுண்டு, (எனினும் அவற்றைக் கொண்டு (இவ்வுலகிலுள்ள அல்லாஹ்வின் அத்தாட்சிகளை) அவர்கள் பார்க்க மாட்டார்கள், அவர்களுக்குக் காதுகளுமுண்டு, அவற்றைக் கொண்டு அவர்கள் (நல்லவற்றைச்) செவியேற்கமாட்டார்கள், அவர்கள் கால்நடைகளைப் போன்றவர்கள், ஏன் (அவற்றைவிட) அவர்கள் மிக அதிகமாக வழிகெட்டவர்கள்; அவர்களேதாம் (நம் வசனங்களை அலட்சியம் செய்து) பராமுகமானவர்களாவர்.

And surely, We have created many of the jinn and mankind for Hell. They have hearts wherewith they understand not, and they have eyes wherewith they see not, and they have ears wherewith they hear not (the truth). They are like cattle, nay even more astray; those! They are the heedless ones.

இன்னும், அல்லாஹ்வுக்கு மிக்க அழகான பெயர்கள் இருக்கின்றன, ஆகவே அவற்றைக் கொண்டே நீங்கள் அவனை அழையுங்கள், அவனுடைய பெயர்களில் (தவறான பொருள் கொண்டு) திரித்துக் கூறுவோரை விட்டுவிடுங்கள், அவர்கள் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தவைக்குரிய கூலியைக் கொடுக்கப்படுவார்கள்.(12)

And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allâh¹, so call on Him by them, and leave the company of those who belie or deny (or utter impious speech against) His Names. They will be requited for what they used to do.

   Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه : Allâh has ninety-nine Names, i.e. one-hundred minus one; and whoever believes in their meanings and acts accordingly, will enter Paradise; and Allâh is Witr (One) and loves the ‘witr’. (Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol. 8, hadîth No.419).

மேலும் நாம் படைத்தவர்களில் ஒரு கூட்டத்தார் இருக்கிறார்கள், அவர்கள் உண்மைக்கு வழிகாட்டுகிறார்கள், (அதைப் பின்பற்றுவதுடன் மற்ற மனிதர்களுக்கும் அறிவித்து) அதனைக் கொண்டே நீதியும் செய்கின்றனர்.

And of those whom We have created, there is a community who guides (others) with the truth, and establishes justice therewith.

இன்னும், நம்முடைய வசனங்களைப் பொய்யாக்குகின்றார்களே அத்தகையோர் - (அவர்களுக்கு சகலத்தையும் கொடுத்து) அவர்கள் உணர்ந்து கொள்ளாத விதத்தில் அவர்களை நாம் படிப்படியாக (கீழ்நிலைக்கு இறக்கி)ப்பிடித்துவிடுவோம்.

Those who reject Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), We shall gradually seize them with punishment in ways they perceive not.

அன்றியும் (இவ்வுலகில்) நான் அவர்களுக்கு அவகாசம் கொடுப்பேன், நிச்சயமாக என்னுடைய சதி(த் திட்டம்) மிக்க உறுதியானது.

And I respite them; certainly My Plan is strong.

(நம் நபியாகிய) அவர்களுடைய தோழருக்கு எவ்விதப் பைத்தியமும் இல்லை என்பதை அவர்கள் சிந்தித்துப் பார்க்கவில்லையா? அவர் பகிரங்கமாக அச்சமூட்டி எச்சரிக்கை செய்கின்றவரே தவிர வேறில்லை.

Do they not reflect? There is no madness in their companion (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). He is but a plain warner.

இன்னும், வானங்களுடையவும், பூமியுடையவும் ஆட்சியிலும், எப்பொருளிலிருந்தும் அல்லாஹ் படைத்திருக்கின்றவற்றிலும், இன்னும் அவர்களுடைய (மரண) தவணை நெருங்கியதாக ஆகி இருக்கக் கூடும் என்பதிலும் அவர்கள் (உணர்ந்து) பார்க்கவில்லையா? (குர் ஆனாகிய) இதற்குப் பின்னர் எந்தச் செய்தியைத்தான் அவர்கள் விசுவாசங்கொள்ளப் போகிறார்கள்?

Do they not look in the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all things that Allâh has created; and that it may be that the end of their lives is near. In what message after this will they then believe?

எவரை அல்லாஹ் தவறான வழியில் செலுத்திவிடுகிறானோ அவரை நேரான வழியில் செலுத்துபவர் எவரும் இலர், தங்கள் வழிகேட்டிலேயே அவர்களை தட்டழிகிறவர்களாக அவன் விட்டும்விடுகின்றான்.

Whomsoever Allâh sends astray, none can guide him; and He lets them wander blindly in their transgressions.

(நபியே!) மறுமை நாள் பற்றி-அதனுடைய வருகை எப்பொழுது என- அவர்கள் உம்மிடம் கேட்கிறார்கள், (அதற்கு) நீர் கூறுவீராக! அதன் அறிவெல்லாம் என் இரட்சகனிடத்தில்தான், அதை (வரவேண்டிய) அதற்குரிய நேரத்தில் அவனையன்றி வேறு எவரும் வெளிப்படுத்த மாட்டார், (அதுபற்றி முற்றிலும் அறிந்தவன் அவனே! அது சமயம்) வானங்களிலும், பூமியிலும் பளு(வான சம்பவங்கள்) ஏற்பட்டுவிடும், திடீரெனவே தவிர அது உங்களிடம் வராது, நிச்சயமாக நீர் அதனை முற்றிலும் அறிந்து கொண்டவர் போல (அதனைப்பற்றி) உம்மிடம் கேட்கிறார்கள், (அதற்கு) அதன் அறிவெல்லாம் அல்லாஹ்விடத்தில்தான் இருக்கிறது, எனினும், மனிதர்களில் பெரும்பாலோர் (அதனை) அறியமாட்டர்கள் என்று நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக.

They ask you about the Hour (Day of Resurrection): "When will be its appointed time?" Say: "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (Alone). None can reveal its time but He. Heavy is its burden through the heavens and the earth. It shall not come upon you except all of a sudden." They ask you as if you have a good knowledge of it. Say: "The knowledge thereof is with Allâh (Alone), but most of mankind know not."¹

   Narrated ‘Abdullâh رضي الله عنه: Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "The keys of the unseen are five: Verily Allâh! With Him (Alone) is the knowledge of the Hour, He sends down the rain, and knows that which is in the wombs. No person knows what he will earn tomorrow, and no person knows in what land he will die. Verily, Allâh is All-Knower, All-Aware." (V.31:34). (Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol. 6, hadîth No. 151).

(நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக “அல்லாஹ் நாடியதைத் தவிர எனக்கே எவ்வித நன்மையைச் செய்வதற்)கும், தீமை(யைத் தடுத்துக் கொள்வதற்)கும் நான் சக்தி பெறமாட்டேன், மறைவானவற்றை நான் அறிந்தவனாக இருந்திருந்தால், நன்மைகளையே அதிகமாகத் தேடிக்கொண்டிருப்பேன், தீமை என்னைத் தொட்டிருக்காது, நான் அச்சமூட்டி எச்சரிக்கை செய்பவனும், விசுவாசங் கொண்ட சமுதாயத்தினருக்கு நன்மாராயங் கூறுபவனுமேயன்றி வேறில்லை”

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "I possess no power over benefit or harm to myself except as Allâh wills. If I had the knowledge of the Ghaib (Unseen), I should have secured for myself an abundance of wealth, and no evil should have touched me. I am but a warner, and a bringer of glad tidings unto people who believe."

அவன் எத்தகையவனென்றால், ஒரே ஆத்மாவிலிருந்து உங்களைப் படைத்து அதிலிருந்து அதற்குரிய ஜோடி(யான மனைவி)யை அவளுடன் கூடி வசிப்பதற்காகவும் உண்டாக்கினான், அவளை அவர் மூடிக் கொண்டபோது அவள் இலேசான சுமை சுமந்தாள், பின்னர் அதனை(ச்சுமந்து)க் கொண்டு திரிந்தாள், அது கனமானபோது, “நீ எங்களுக்கு (சந்ததியில்) நல்லதை அளித்தால், நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் (உனக்கு) நன்றி செலுத்துவோரில் இருப்போம்” என்று அவ்விருவருடைய இரட்சகனாகிய அல்லாஹ்விடம் அவ்விருவரும் பிரார்த்தித்தார்கள்.

It is He Who has created you from a single person (Adam), and (then) He has created from him his wife [Hawwâ’ (Eve)], in order that he might enjoy the pleasure of living with her. When he (a polytheist from Adam’s offspring - as stated by Ibn Kathir in his Tafsir) had sexual relation with her (the polytheist’s wife), she became pregnant and she carried it about lightly. Then when it became heavy, they both invoked Allâh, their Lord (saying): "If You give us a Sâlih (good in every aspect) child, we shall indeed be among the grateful."

அவ்விருவருக்கும் நல்ல (சந்ததியான)தை அவன் கொடுத்தபோது அவர்களுக்கு அவன் கொடுத்தவற்றில் அவ்விருவரும் இணையாளர்களை ஆக்கினார்கள், அவர்கள் இணைவைப்பதைவிட்டும் அல்லாஹ் உயர்வானவன்.

But when He gave them (the polytheist and his wife) a Sâlih (good in every aspect) child, they ascribed partners to Him (Allâh) in that which He has given to them. High be Allâh, Exalted above all that they ascribe as partners to Him. (Tafsir Ibn Kathir).

எப்பொருளையும் படைக்காதவற்றை அவர்கள் (அல்லாஹ்வுக்கு) இணையாக்குகின்றனரா? அவர்களும் (அவனால்) படைக்கப்பட்டவர்களே!

Do they attribute as partners to Allâh those who created nothing but they themselves are created?

மேலும், அவர்கள் இவர்களுக்கு எத்தகைய உதவி செய்யச் சக்தி பெற மாட்டார்கள், தங்களுக்குத் தாங்களே (ஏதும்) உதவி செய்து கொள்ளவும் (சக்தி பெற) மாட்டார்கள்.

No help can they give them, nor can they help themselves.

நீங்கள் அவர்களை நேர் வழியின்பால் அழைத்தபோதிலும் உங்களை அவர்கள் பின்பற்றமாட்டார்கள், நீங்கள் அவர்களை அழைப்பதும் அல்லது அழைக்காது வாய்மூடிக் கொண்டவர்களாக இருப்பதும் உங்களுக்குச் சமமேயாகும்.

And if you call them to guidance, they follow you not. It is the same for you whether you call them or you keep silent.

நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வைத் தவிர, நீங்கள் (தெய்வங்களென அழைக்கின்றீர்களே அத்தகையவர்கள் உங்களைப் போன்ற அடியார்களே, (உங்களுக்குப் பயனளிப்பார்கள் என்ற கூற்றில்) நீங்கள் உண்மையாளர்களாக இருந்தால், அவர்களை நீங்கள் அழைத்துப் பாருங்கள், உங்களுக்கு அவர்கள் பதிலளிக்கட்டும்.

Verily, those whom you call upon besides Allâh are slaves like you. So call upon them and let them answer you if you are truthful.

(இணை வைப்போரே! நீங்கள் வணங்கும்) அவர்களுக்கு எவற்றைக்கொண்டு அவர்கள் நடப்பார்களோ அத்தகைய கால்கள் உண்டா? அல்லது எவற்றைக்கொண்டு அவர்கள் பிடிப்பார்களோ அத்தகைய கைகள் அவர்களுக்கு உண்டா? அல்லது எவற்றைக்கொண்டு அவர்கள் பார்ப்பார்களோ அத்தகைய கண்கள் அவர்களுக்கு உண்டா? அல்லது எவற்றைக் கொண்டு அவர்கள் செவியுறுவார்களோ அத்தகைய செவிகள் அவர்களுக்கு உண்டா? (அவ்வாறாயின்) “நீங்கள் உங்களுடைய இணையாளர்களை அழையுங்கள், பிறகு (எனக்கு இடையூறு செய்ய) சூழ்ச்சி செய்யுங்கள், (இதில்) நீங்கள் சிறிதும் எனக்கு அவகாசம் கொடுக்க வேண்டாம்” என்று (நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக!

Have they feet wherewith they walk? Or have they hands wherewith they hold? Or have they eyes wherewith they see? Or have they ears wherewith they hear? Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Call your (so-called) partners (of Allâh) and then plot against me, and give me no respite!

நிச்சயமாக இவ்வேதத்தை இறக்கிவைத்தவனாகிய அல்லாஹ் தான் என் பாதுகாவலன், மேலும் அவனே நல்லடியார்களைப் பாதுகாக்கின்றான்.

Verily, my Walî (Protector, Supporter, and Helper) is Allâh Who has revealed the Book (the Qur’ân), and He protects (supports and helps) the righteous.

(இணைவைத்து வணங்குவோரே!) அவனையன்றி நீங்கள் அழைக்கின்றீர்களே அத்தகையோர், உங்களுக்கு உதவி செய்ய சக்தி பெற மாட்டார்கள், தமக்குத்தாமே உதவி செய்து கொள்ளவும் மாட்டார்கள்.

And those whom you call upon besides Him (Allâh) cannot help you nor can they help themselves.

நீங்கள் அவர்களை நேர்வழியின்பக்கம் அழைப்பீர்களானாலும், அதை அவர்கள் கேட்கமாட்டார்கள், (நபியே!) மேலும், அவர்களை உம்பால் அவர்கள் பார்ப்பதாக நீர் காண்பீர் (ஆனால்) அவர்களோ (உண்மையில் உம்மைப்) பார்ப்பதில்லை.

And if you call them to guidance, they hear not and you will see them looking at you, yet they see not.

(நபியே!) நீர் மன்னிப்பை எடுத்துக் கொள்வீராக! நன்மையை ஏவியும் வருவீராக! அறிவீனர்களைப் புறக்கணித்தும் விடுவீராக!

Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the foolish (i.e. don’t punish them).

ஷைத்தானிலிருந்து ஓர் (சிறிய) ஊசாட்டம் உமக்கு நிச்சயமாக ஊசாடுமானால் அல்லாஹ்வைக் கொண்டு நீர் காவல் தேடிக் கொள்வீராக! நிச்சயமாக அவன் செவியுறுகிறவன், (யாவையும்) நன்கறிகிறவன்.

And if an evil whisper comes to you from Shaitân (Satan), then seek refuge with Allâh. Verily, He is All-Hearer, All-Knower.
