7. Al-A'raf

“நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் பெண்களை விட்டு (விட்டு) ஆண்களிடம் காம இச்சைக்காக (அதைத் தணித்துக் கொள்ள) வருகின்றீர்கள், மாறாக நீங்கள் மிக்க வரம்பு மீறிய சமூகத்தவராகவே இருக்கின்றீர்கள்” (என்று கூறினார்).

"Verily, you practise your lusts on men instead of women. Nay, but you are a people transgressing beyond bounds (by committing great sins)."

(அதற்கு) அவரது சமுதாயத்தினரின் பதில் “அவர்களை உங்கள் ஊரைவிட்டு வெளியேற்றி விடுங்கள், (காரணம்) நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் மிக்க பரிசுத்தமான மனிதர்களாக இருக்(க விரும்பு)கிறார்கள்” என்று அவர்கள் கூறியதைத் தவிர (வேறெதுவாகவும்) இருக்கவில்லை.

And the answer of his people was only that they said: "Drive them out of your town, these are indeed men who want to be pure (from sins)!"

எனவே, அவருடைய மனைவியைத் தவிர அவரையும் (மற்ற) அவருடைய குடும்பத்தினரையும் காப்பாற்றினோம், (அவருடைய மனைவியாகிய) அவள் (அவரைப் பின்பற்றாது அழிந்து போவோரில் ஒருத்தியாக) பின்தங்கியவர்களுடன் இருந்துவிட்டாள்.

Then We saved him and his family, except his wife; she was of those who remained behind (in the torment).

மேலும், அவர்கள் மீது நாம் (கல்) மாரியைப் பொழிவித்து (அவர்களை அழித்து) விட்டோம், ஆகவே, (இக்)குற்றவாளிகளின் இறுதி முடிவு எப்படி இருந்தது என்பதை (நபியே!) நீர் நோக்குவீராக!

And We rained down on them a rain (of stones). Then see what was the end of the Mujrimûn (criminals, polytheists and sinners).

இன்னும் “மத்யன்” (என்னும் நகர)வாசிகளிடம் அவர்களுடைய சகோதரர் ”ஷுஐபை (நம்முடைய தூதராக அனுப்பிவைத்தோம்) அவர், “என்னுடைய சமூகத்தாரே” அலலாஹ் ஒருவனையே வணங்குங்கள், அவனைத் தவிர உங்களுக்கு வணக்கத்திற்குரிய வேறு (நாயனில்லை) உங்கள் இரட்சகனிடமிருந்து திட்டமாக உங்களுக்குத் தெளிவான அத்தாட்சி வந்திருக்கின்றது, ஆகவே, அளவைப் பூர்த்தியாக அளந்து எடையையும் சரியாக நிறுங்கள், (நீங்கள் கொடுக்க வேண்டிய) மனிதர்களுடைய பொருட்களில் யாதொன்றை அவர்களுக்குக் குறைத்தும் விடாதீர்கள், மேலும், பூமியில் (சமாதானம், அமைதி ஏற்பட்டு) அது சீர்திருத்தம் அடைந்த பின்னர், குழப்பத்தை உண்டுபண்ணாதீர்கள், நீங்கள் விசுவாசிகளாயின், இவை தாம் உங்களுக்கு நன்மையாக இருக்கும் என்று கூறினார்.

And to (the people of) Madyan (Midian), (We sent) their brother Shu‘aib. He said: "O my people! Worship Allâh! You have no other Ilâh (God) but Him. [Lâ ilâha illallâh (none has the right to be worshipped but Allâh)]." Verily, a clear proof (sign) from your Lord has come unto you; so give full measure and full weight and wrong not men in their things, and do not do mischief on the earth after it has been set in order, that will be better for you, if you are believers.

மேலும், “ஒவ்வொரு வழியிலும் பயமுறுத்துபவர்களாகவும், அல்லாஹ்வின் வழியைவிட்டும் அவனை விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரை தடுப்பவர்களாவும் அதில் கோணலைத் தேடக் கூடியவர்களாகவும அமராதீர்கள்; குறைவானவர்களாக நீங்கள் இருந்தபோது உங்களை அவன் அதிகமாக ஆக்கிவைத்ததையும் (அல்லாஹ்வுக்கு நன்றி செய்வதற்காக) நீங்கள் நினைவு கூருங்கள், பூமியில் குழப்பம் செய்து கொண்டலைந்தவர்களின் (இறுதி) முடிவு எப்படி இருந்தது என்பதையும் நீங்கள் (கவனித்துப்)பார்ப்பீர்களாக!

"And sit not on every road, threatening, and hindering from the Path of Allâh those who believe in Him, and seeking to make it crooked. And remember when you were but few, and He multiplied you. And see what was the end of the Mufsidûn (mischief-makers, corrupters, liars).

“இன்னும் நான் எதைக் கொண்டு அனுப்பப்பட்டேனோ அதை உங்களில் ஒருசாரார் விசுவாசம் கொண்டவர்களாக இருந்தும், ஒருசாரார் விசுவாசங்கொள்ளாதவர்களாகவும் இருந்தால் (அப்போது) நமக்கு மத்தியில் அல்லாஹ் தீர்ப்பு வழங்கும் வரை பொறுமையாக இருங்கள், அவனே தீர்ப்பு வழங்குவோரில் மிக்க மேலானவன்” (என்று கூறினார்.)

"And if there is a party of you who believe in that with which I have been sent and a party who do not believe, so be patient until Allâh judges between us, and He is the Best of judges."¹

   A). Narrated ‘Abdullâh bin ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما: Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Surely! Everyone of you is a guardian and is responsible for his charges: The Imâm (ruler) of the people is a guardian and is responsible for his subjects: a man is the guardian of his family (household) and is responsible for his subjects: a woman is the guardian of her husband’s home and of his children and is responsible for them; and the slave of a man is a guardian of his master’s property and is responsible for it. Surely, everyone of you is a guardian and responsible for his charges." (Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.9, hadîth No.252).

   B). Narrated Tarîf Abî Tamîmah: I saw Safwân and Jundub and Safwân’s companions when Jundub was advising. They said, "Did you hear something from Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم?" Jundub said, "I heard him saying, ‘Whoever does a good deed in order to show-off, Allâh will expose his intentions on the Day of Resurrection (before the people), and whoever puts the people into difficulties, Allâh will put him into difficulties on the Day of Resurrection.’ " The people said (to Jundub), "Advise us." He said, "The first thing of the human body to purify is the abdomen, so he who can eat nothing but good food (Halâl and earned lawfully) should do so, and he who does as much as he can that nothing intervene between him and Paradise by not shedding even a handful of blood, (i.e. murdering) should do so." [Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.9, hadîth No.266].

   C) Narrated Anas bin Mâlik رضي الله عنه: While the Prophetصلى الله عليه وسلم and I were coming out of the mosque, a man met us outside the gate. The man said, "O Allâh’s Messenger! When will be the Hour?" The Prophetصلى الله عليه وسلم asked him, "What have you prepared for it?" The man became afraid and ashamed and then said, "O Allâh’s Messenger! I haven’t prepared for it much of Saum (fasts), Salât (prayers) or charitable gifts but I love Allâh and His Messenger." The Prophetصلى الله عليه وسلم said, "You will be with the one whom you love." [Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.9, hadîth No. 267].

   D). Narrated Abu Dharr رضي الله عنه : Once I went to him (the Prophetصلى الله عليه وسلم) and he said, "By Allâh in Whose Hand my life is (Or probably said, "By Allâh, except whom none has the right to be worshipped)" whoever had camels or cows or sheep and did not pay their Zakât, those animals will be brought on the Day of Resurrection far bigger and fatter than before and they will tread him under their hooves, and will butt him with their horns, and (those animals will come in circle): When the last does its turn, the first will start again, and this punishment will go on till Allâh has finished the judgements amongst the people."

அவருடைய சமூகத்தினரில் கர்வங் கொண்டிருந்தார்களே அந்தப்பிரதானிகள், “ஷுஐபே! நிச்சயமாக நாம் உம்மையும் உம்முடன் விசுவாசித்தோரையும் நம்முடைய ஊரிலிருந்து வெளியேற்றி விடுவோம், அல்லது நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் நம்முடைய மார்க்கத்திற்குத் திரும்பிவிட வேண்டும்” என்று கூறினார்கள், அ(தற்க)வர் (அவர்களிடம்) உங்களுடைய மார்க்கத்தை) நாங்கள் வெறுப்பவர்களாக இருந்தபோதிலுமா? என்று கேட்டார்.

The chiefs of those who were arrogant among his people said: "We shall certainly drive you out, O Shu‘aib, and those who have believed with you from our town, or else you (all) shall return to our religion." He said: "Even though we hate it!?"

(அன்றி) “உங்கள் மார்க்கத்திற்கு – அதிலிருந்து அல்லாஹ் எங்களைக் காப்பாற்றிவிட்டதன் பின்னர்-நாங்கள் திரும்பினால் நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வின் மீது நாங்கள் பொய்யைப் புனைந்து கூறியவர்களாகி விடுவோம், எங்கள் இரட்சகனாகிய அல்லாஹ் நாடினாலன்றி நாங்கள் அதன்பால் மீளுவதற்கு எங்களுக்கு எவ்வித உரிமையும் இல்லை, எங்கள் இரட்சகன் தன் அறிவால் எல்லாப் பொருட்களையும் சூழ்ந்திருக்கிறான், அல்லாஹ்வின் மீதே நாங்கள் (எங்களுடைய காரியங்களை ஒப்படைத்து முழுமையாக) நம்பிக்கை வைத்துள்ளோம்” (என்று கூறி) “எங்கள் இரட்சகனே! எங்களுக்கும் எங்கள் சமூகத்தாருக்குமிடையில் நீ நியாயமான தீர்ப்பை வழங்குவாயாக! நிச்சயமாக நீயே தீர்ப்பளிப்போரில் மிக்க மேலானவன்” (என்றும் பிரார்த்தித்தார்.)

"We should have invented a lie against Allâh if we returned to your religion, after Allâh has rescued us from it. And it is not for us to return to it unless Allâh, our Lord, should will. Our Lord comprehends all things in His Knowledge. In Allâh (Alone) we put our trust. Our Lord! Judge between us and our people in truth, for You are the Best of those who give judgment."

அவருடைய சமூகத்தாரில் நிராகரித்து விட்டார்களே! அத்தகைய பிரதானிகள் (மற்றவர்களிடம்) “நீங்கள் ஷுஜபைப் பின்பற்றினால், அப்போது நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் தாம் நஷ்டமடைந்தவர்கள்” என்று கூறினார்கள்.

The chiefs of those who disbelieved among his people said (to their people): "If you follow Shu‘aib, be sure then you will be the losers!"

ஆகவே, அவர்களை (மிக்க கொடூரமான பூகம்பம் பிடித்துக் கொண்டது, அவர்கள் தஙகள் வீடுகளில் குப்புற வீழ்ந்து (இறந்து) கிடந்தவர்களாக காலைப்பொழுதை அடைந்தனர்.

So the earthquake seized them and they lay (dead), prostrate in their homes.

ஷுஜபைப் பொய்யாக்கினார்களே அத்தகையவர்கள் அவற்றில் (தங்கள் வீடுகளில்) ஒருகாலத்திலுமே வசித்திராதவர்களைப் போலாகி (யாதோர் அடையாளமுமின்றி அழிந்து) விட்டனர், ஷுஜபைப் பொய்யாக்கினார்களே அத்தகையோர் - அவர்களே (முற்றிலும்) நஷ்டமடைந்தவர்களாக ஆகிவிட்டார்கள்.

Those who belied Shu‘aib, became as if they had never dwelt there (in their homes). Those who belied Shu‘aib, they were the losers.

(அது சமயம் ஷுஐபாகிய (அவர் அவர்களைவிட்டும் திரும்பி, “என்னுடைய சமூகத்தாரே! “நிச்சயமாக நான் என் இரட்சகனின் தூதுகளையே உங்களுக்கு எடுத்துரைத்து) எத்தி வைத்து விட்டேன், இன்னும் உங்களுக்கு நல்லுபதேசமும் செய்துவிட்டேன், ஆகவே, (அதனை) நிராகரித்துவிட்ட சமூகத்தாரின்மீது நான் எவ்வாறு கவலைப்படுவேன்” என்று கூறினார்.

Then he (Shu‘aib) turned from them and said: "O my people! I have indeed conveyed my Lord’s Messages unto you and I have given you good advice. Then how can I sorrow for the disbelieving people’s (destruction)."

மேலும், எந்த ஊரிலும் அவ்வூர்வாசிகளை அவர்கள் பணிந்து வருவதற்காக வறுமையாலும், பிணியாலும் நாம் அவர்களை பிடித்தே தவிர எந்த நபியையம் நாம் அனுப்பவில்லை.

And We sent no Prophet unto any town (and they denied him), but We seized its people with suffering from extreme poverty (or loss in wealth) and loss of health (and calamities), so that they might humiliate themselves (and repent to Allâh).

பின்னர் நாம் (வறுமை பிணி போன்ற) தீயதின் இடத்தில் நல்லதை மாற்றிக்கொடுத்தோம், முடிவாக (பல்கிப்பெருகி) அதிகமானவர்களாகிவிட்ட அவர்கள், நம்முடைய மூதாதையர்களுக்குமே இத்தகைய சுக துக்கம் ஏற்பட்டிருக்கின்றது” என்று (தாங்கள் அனுபவித்து வரும்) இவை யாவும் காலத்தின் ஏற்றத்தாழ்வினால் ஏற்பட்டதே என அலட்சியமாகக் கூறினார்கள், ஆதலால், அவர்கள் (ஒரு சிறிதும்) உணர்ந்து கொள்ளாத விதத்தில் (வேதனையைக் கொண்டு) திடீரென அவர்களை நாம் பிடித்துக் கொண்டோம்.

Then We changed the evil for the good, until they increased in number and in wealth, and said: "Our fathers were touched with evil (loss of health and calamities) and with good (prosperity)." So We seized them all of a sudden while they were unaware.

மேலும், அவ்வூர்களை உடையவர்கள் விசுவாசங்கொண்டு (அல்லாஹ்வுக்குப்) பயந்தும் நடந்திருந்தால், அவர்களுக்கு வானத்திலும், பூமியிலும் உள்ள பாக்கியங்(களின் வாசல்)களை நாம் திறந்து விட்டிருப்போம், எனினும், அவர்கள் (நபிமார்களை விசுவாசிக்காது) பொய்யாக்கினார்கள், ஆகவே, அவர்கள் சம்பாதித்துக் கொண்ட (பாவத்)தின் காரணமாக நாம் (வேதனையைக் கொண்டு) அவர்களைப் பிடித்துக் கொண்டோம்.

And if the people of the towns had believed and had the Taqwâ (piety), certainly, We should have opened for them blessings from the heaven and the earth, but they belied (the Messengers). So We took them (with punishment) for what they used to earn (polytheism and crimes).

(நபியே! நிராகரித்த) அவ்வூர்களை உடையவர்கள் (தங்கள் வீடுகளில்) இரவில் அவர்கள் நித்திரை செய்து கொண்டிருக்கும் நிலையில் நம்முடைய வேதனை அவர்களிடம் வந்து விடுவதைப் பற்றி அவர்கள் அச்சமற்றிருக்கின்றனரா?

Did the people of the towns then feel secure against the coming of Our punishment by night while they were asleep?

அல்லது (நிராகரித்த) அவ்வூர்களை உடையவர்கள் (கவலையற்று) முற்பகலில் விளையாடிக் கொண்டு பாராமுகமாக அவர்கள் காரியங்களில் ஈடுபட்டிருக்கும் நிலையில், நம்முடைய வேதனை அவர்களிடம் வந்து விடுவதைப் பற்றி அவர்கள் அச்சமற்றிருக்கின்றனரா?

Or, did the people of the towns then feel secure against the coming of Our punishment in the forenoon while they were playing?

அல்லாஹ்வின் சூழ்ச்சியை அவர்கள் அச்சமற்றிருக்கின்றனரா? முற்றிலும் நஷ்டமடையக் கூடிய சமூகத்தாரைத் தவிர (எவரும்) அல்லாஹ்வின் சூழ்ச்சியை அச்சமற்றிருக்க மாட்டார்கள்.

Did they then feel secure against the Plan of Allâh? None feels secure from the Plan of Allâh except the people who are the losers.

பூமியை – அதை உடையவர்களுக்குப் பின்னர்-வாரிசாக அடைந்தோருக்கு-நாம் நாடினால், இவர்களுடைய பாவங்களின் காரணமாக இவர்களையும், (அவ்வாறே) பிடித்திருப்போம் என்ற விஷயம் இவர்களுக்கு விளங்கவில்லையா? மேலும் நாம் இவர்களுடைய இதயங்களின் மீது முத்திரையிட்டு விடுகிறோம், ஆகவே, இவர்கள் (நல்லுபதேசங்களைச்) செவியேற்க மாட்டார்கள்.

Is it not clear to those who inherit the earth in succession from its (previous) possessors, that had We willed, We would have punished them for their sins. And We seal up their hearts so that they hear not?

(நபியே!) அந்த ஊர்கள் - அவற்றின் (வரலாற்றுச்) செய்திகளை நாம் உமக்கு (விவரித்துக்) கூறுகின்றோம், (அவற்றில் வசித்திருந்த) அவர்களுக்கு (அல்லாஹ்வினால்) அனுப்பப்பட்ட தூதர்கள், அவர்களிடம் திட்டமாகத் தெளிவான அத்தாட்சிகளையே கொண்டு வந்தனர், (ஆயினும்,) அவர்களோ முன்னர் பொய்யாக்கிய காரணத்தினால் விசுவாசங் கொள்பவர்களாக இருக்கவில்லை, இவ்வாறே நிராகரிப்போரின் இதயங்களின் மீது அல்லாஹ் முத்திரையிட்டு விடுகின்றான்.

Those were the towns whose story We relate unto you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). And there came indeed to them their Messengers with clear proofs, but they were not such as to believe in that which they had rejected before. Thus Allâh does seal up the hearts of the disbelievers (from every kind of religious guidance).

அவர்களில் பெரும்பாலோருக்கு எந்த வாக்குறுதியையும் (நிறைவேற்றும் தன்மை) இருப்பதாகவும் நாம் காணவில்லை, அன்றியும், நிச்சயமாக நாம் அவர்களில் பெரும்பாலோரைப் பாவிகளாகவே கண்டோம்.

And most of them We found not true to their covenant, but most of them We found indeed Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).

(நபிமார்களாகிய நூஹ், ஹூத், ஸாலீஹ், ஷுஜப்) அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னர் மூஸாவை நம் அத்தாட்சிகளுடன் ஃபிர் அவ்னிடமும், அவனுடைய பிராதானிகளிடமும் நாம் அனுப்பி வைத்தோம், (ஆயினும்,) அவர்கள் அவற்றை நிராகரித்து அநியாயம் செய்து) விட்டனர், ஆகவே, (இத்தகைய) குழப்பக்காரர்களின் முடிவு எப்படி இருந்தது என்பதை (நபியே!) நீர் கவனிப்பீராக!

Then after them We sent Mûsâ (Moses) with Our Signs to Fir‘aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they wrongfully rejected them. So see how was the end of the Mufsidûn (mischief-makers, corrupters).

மேலும், மூஸா (ஃபிர் அவ்னிடம்) “ஃபிர் அவ்னே! நிச்சயமாக நான் அகிலத்தாரின் இரட்சகனால் (உன்னிடம்) அனுப்பப்பட்ட ஒரு தூதன்” என்று கூறினார்.

And Mûsâ (Moses) said: "O Fir‘aun (Pharaoh)! Verily, I am a Messenger from the Lord of the ‘Âlamîn (mankind, jinn and all that exists).

(அன்றி “நான் அல்லாஹ்வின்மீது உண்மையையன்றி (வேறு எதையும்) கூறாமலிருப்பது (என்மீது) கடமையாகும், உங்கள் இரட்சகனிடமிருந்து தெளிவான அத்தாட்சியை திட்டமாக நான் உங்களிடம் கொண்டு வந்திருக்கிறேன், ஆதலால், நீ (அடிமைப்படுத்தி வைத்திருக்கும்) இஸ்ராயீலின் மக்களை என்னுடன் அனுப்பிவை” (என்றும் அவர் கூறினார்.)

"Proper it is for me that I say nothing concerning Allâh but the truth. Indeed I have come unto you from your Lord with a clear proof. So let the Children of Israel depart along with me."

அ(தற்க)வன், “நீர் ஏதேனும் அத்தாட்சியைக் கொண்டு வந்திருந்தால், (அதுபற்றி) நீர் உண்மையாளர்களில் இருந்தால் அதனை நீர் கொண்டுவாரும்” என்று கூறினான்.

[Fir‘aun (Pharaoh)] said: "If you have come with a sign, show it forth, if you are one of those who tell the truth."

அப்போது அவர் தன் கைத்தடியை போட்டார், அதே சமயம் அது தெளிவான பெரிய(தொரு) பாம்பாகிவிட்டது.

Then [Mûsâ (Moses)] threw his stick and behold! it was a serpent, manifest!

அன்றியும் அவர் தன்னுடைய கையை(ச் சட்டைப் பையிலிட்டு) வெளியில் எடுத்தார், அதே சமயம் அது பார்ப்போருக்கு வெண்மையானதாக(வும் பிரகாசமானதாகவும்) இருந்தது.

And he drew out his hand, and behold! it was white (with radiance) for the beholders.

(இதனைக்கண்ட) ஃபிர் அவ்னுடைய சமூகத்தாரைச்சேர்ந்த பிரதானிகள் “நிச்சயமாக இவர் மிக அறிந்த சூனியக்காரர்” என்று கூறினார்கள்.,

The chiefs of the people of Fir‘aun (Pharaoh) said: "This is indeed a well-versed sorcerer;

“அவர் உங்களை உங்களுடைய பூமியிலிருந்து (நாட்டிலிருந்து) வெளியேற்றிவிட நாடுகிறார், ஆகவே, இதைப்பற்றி நீங்கள் எதைக் கட்டளையிடுகிறீர்கள்” (என்று ஃபிர் அவன் கேட்டான்.)

"He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?"

அ(தற்கவர்கள், “அவருக்கும், அவருடைய சகோதரருக்கும் தவணை கொடுத்துவிட்டு, பல பட்டணங்களுக்கு (சூனியக்காரர்களைத்) திரட்டிக் கொண்டு வருபவர்களை அனுப்பி வை” என்று கூறினார்கள்.

They said: "Put him and his brother off (for a time), and send callers to the cities to collect -

“அவர்கள், நன்கறிந்த ஒவ்வொரு சூனியக்காரரையும் உம்மிடம் (அழைத்துக்) கொண்டு வருவார்கள்”(என்றும் கூறினார்கள்).

"That they bring up to you all well-versed sorcerers."

(அவ்வாறு அனுப்பியதில் பல திசைகளிலும் இருந்த) சூனியக்காரர்கள் ஃபிர் அவ்னிடம் வந்து” நாங்கள் (மூஸாவை) வென்றவர்களாக ஆகிவிட்டால் நிச்சயமாக எங்களுக்கு (அதற்குரிய) வெகுமதி உண்டா?” என்று கேட்டனர்.

And so the sorcerers came to Fir‘aun (Pharaoh). They said: "Indeed there will be a (good) reward for us if we are the victors."

அதற்கவன், “ஆம்! (உங்களுக்கு வெகுமதி உண்டு) மேலும், நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் (எம் சபையில் எமக்கு மிக்க) நெருக்கமாக்கப்பட்டவர்களிலுமிருப்பீர்கள் என்று கூறினான்.

He said: "Yes, and moreover you will (in that case) be of the nearest (to me)."

(பின்னர் அச்சூனியக்காரர்கள்) “மூஸாவே (முதலில்) நீர் போடுகிறீரா? அல்லது (முதலில்) போடுபவர்களாக நாங்கள் இருக்கட்டுமா?” என்று கேட்டனர்.

They said: "O Mûsâ (Moses)! Either you throw (first), or shall we have the (first) throw?"

(அதற்கு) மூஸா “நீங்கள் (முதலில்) போடுங்கள்” என்று கூறினார்; அவ்வாறு அவர்கள் (தங்களது கைத்தடிகளை) போட்டபோது அதனால் மனிதர்களுடைய கண்களை(க் கட்டி) சூனியம் செய்தனர், அவர்களைத் திடுக்கிடும்படியும் செய்துவிட்டனர், இன்னும் மகத்தான சூனியத்தை அவர்கள் கொண்டு வந்து விட்டனர்.

He [Mûsâ (Moses)] said: "Throw you (first)." So when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people, and struck terror into them, and they displayed a great magic.

(அது சமயம்) நாம், “மூஸாவுக்கு நீர் உம்முடைய கைத்தடியை போடும்)” என்றும் வஹீ அறிவித்தோம், (அவ்வாறு அவர் போடவே,) உடனே அது (பெரியதொரு பாம்பாகி) அவர்கள் (சூனியத்தால்) கற்பனை செய்தவற்றை விழுங்கிவிட்டது.

And We revealed to Mûsâ (Moses) (saying): "Throw your stick," and behold! It swallowed up straight away all the falsehoods which they showed.

ஆகவே, உண்மை வெளிப்பட்டு விட்டது, அவர்கள் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தவை (யாவும்) வீணாகியும் விட்டது.

Thus truth was confirmed, and all that they did was made of no effect.

ஆகவே, (கர்வங்கொண்டிருந்த) அவர்கள் அங்கேயே வெற்றி கொள்ளப்பட்டனர், அவர்கள் சிறுமையடைந்தவர்களாகவும் திரும்பினார்கள்.,

So they were defeated there and returned disgraced.

அன்றியும், அச்சூனியக்காரர்கள் சிரம் பணிந்தவர்களாக (க்கீழே) வீழ்த்தப்பட்டனர்.

And the sorcerers fell down prostrate.
