அவன் (அவரைப்) பொய்யாக்கி, முகத்தையும் திருப்பிக் கொண்டான் என்பதை நீர் பார்த்தீரா?

Tell me if he (Abû Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Qur’ân) and turns away?

நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் (அவனைப்)பார்க்கின்றான் என்பதை அவன் அறிந்து கொள்ளவில்லையா?

Knows he not that Allâh does see (what he does)?

(முஹம்மது தொழுதால் நான் அவர் கழுத்தின் மீது மிதிப்பேன் என அபூஜஹல் கூறியவாறு) அல்ல! இத்தீய செயலிலிருந்து (அவன் விலகிக் கொள்ளாவிடில், நிச்சயமாக அவனது முன்னெற்றி உரோமத்தைப் பிடித்து நாம் இழுப்போம்.

Nay! If he (Abû Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock -

தவறிழைத்து பொய்யுரைக்கும் முன்னெற்றி ரோமத்தை.

A lying, sinful forelock!

ஆகவே, (தன் உதவிக்காக) தனது சபையோரை அவன் அழைக்கட்டும்.

Then let him call upon his council (of helpers).

நாம் (அவனுக்கு தண்டனை தரும்) காவலர்களை அழைப்போம்.

We will call out the guards of Hell (to deal with him)!

(நீர் தொழுவதை விட்டும் தடுத்துவிட முயன்றானே அவ்வாறு) அல்ல! நபியே! நிச்சயமாக நீர் அவனுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படியாதீர், (உமதிரட்சகனுக்குச்) சிரம் பணிவீராக! இன்னும், (அவனை வணக்கத்தின் மூலம்) நெருங்குவீராக!

Nay! (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم)! Do not obey him (Abû Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allâh!

நிச்சயமாக நாம் (நம் வேதமாகிய) இதனை கண்ணியமிக்க (லைலத்துல் கத்ர் எனும்) இரவில் இறக்கி வைத்தோம்

Verily, We have sent it (this Qur’ân) down in the night of Al-Qadr (Decree).¹

1. "Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments." [The Qur’ân, (Verse 44:4)]**

   ** i.e., the matters of deaths, births, provisions, calamities for the whole (coming) year as decreed by Allâh.

(நபியே! அந்த) கண்ணியமிக்க இரவு என்னவென்பது பற்றி உமக்கு அறிவித்தது எது?

And what will make you know what the night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is?

கண்ணியமிக்க (அந்த) இரவு ஆயிரம் மாதங்களைவிட மிகச் சிறந்ததாகும்.

The night of Al-Qadr (Decree) is better than a thousand months (i.e. worshipping Allâh in that night is better than worshipping Him a thousand months, i.e. 83 years and 4 months).

அதில் மலக்குகளும், (ஜிப்ரீலாகிய பரிசுத்த) ஆவியும் தங்கள் இரட்சகனின் கட்டளையின்படி (நடைபெற வேண்டிய) ஒவ்வொரு காரியத்தின் நிமித்தம் இறங்குகின்றனர்.

Therein descend the angels and the Rûh [Jibrîl (Gabrîl)] by Allâh’s Permission with all Decrees,

(அது) சாந்தியா(ன இரவாகும், அவ்விரவான)து அதிகாலை உதயமாகும் வரையிலாகும்.

(All that night), there is Peace (and Goodness from Allâh to His believing slaves) until the appearance of dawn.¹

1. Narrated ‘Âishah رضي الله عنها: Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Search for the Night of Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol. 3, Hadith No.234).

வேதக்காரர்களிலிருந்தும், இணைவைப்பவர்களிலிருந்தும் நிராகரித்துவிட்டார்களே அத்தகையோர், தெளிவான ஆதாரம் அவர்களுக்கு வரும்வரை (நிராகரிப்பதை விட்டும்) விலகுபவர்களாக இருக்கவில்லை.

Those who disbelieve from among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) and Al-Mushrikûn,¹ were not going to leave (their disbelief) until there came to them clear evidence.

1. Al-Mushrikûn: polytheists, pagans, idolaters and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh and His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.

(அத்தெளிவான ஆதாரம்) அல்லாஹ்விடமிருந்து (வந்து)ள்ள தூதர்; (ஆவார். அல்லாஹ்விடமிருந்து இறக்கப்பட்ட) பரிசுத்த ஆகமங்களை அவர் ஓதிக்காண்பிக்கிறார்.

A Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) from Allâh, reciting (the Qur’ân) purified pages [purified from Al-Bâtil (falsehood)].

அவற்றில் தீர்க்கமான சட்டதிட்டங்கள் உள்ளன.

Wherein are correct and straight laws from Allâh.

இன்னும், வேதம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டோர் - தெளிவான ஆதாரம் (நபியும் அவர் மூலமாக வேதமும்) தங்களுக்கு வந்த பின்னரே தவிர அவர்கள் பிளவுபடவில்லை.

And the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) differed not until after there came to them clear evidence (i.e. Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and whatever was revealed to him).

இன்னும், அல்லாஹ்வை – அவனுக்காகவே வணக்கத்தைக் கலப்பற்றதாக ஆக்கியவர்களாக, (அனைத்து தீயவழிகளை விட்டும் நீங்கி இஸ்லாத்தின்பால்) சாய்ந்தவர்களாக அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வை வணங்குவதற்காகவும், தொழுகையை அவர்கள் நிறைவேற்றுவதற்காகவும் ஜகாத்தை அவர்கள் கொடுப்பதற்காகவுமே தவிர (வேறெதையும்) அவர்கள் (அதில்) கட்டளையிடப்படவில்லை; இன்னும், இதுதான் நேரான மார்க்கமாகும்.

And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allâh, and worship none but Him Alone (abstaining from ascribing partners to Him), and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât) and give Zakât, and that is the right religion.
