9. At-Tawbah

(தபூக் யுத்தத்திற்குச் செல்லாது) பின் தங்கி விட்டவர்கள், அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதருக்கு மாறாக)த் தங்கள் வீடுகளில்) அவர்கள் இருந்து கொண்டதைப் பற்றி மகிழச்சியடைகின்றனர், அன்றியும் அல்லாஹ்வுடைய பாதையில் தங்கள் பொருட்காளாலும், தங்கள் உயிர்களாலும் யுத்தம் செய்வதையும் வெறுக்கின்றனர், (மற்றவர்களிடம்) “இந்த வெப்பத்தில் நீங்கள் (யுத்தத்திற்குச்) செல்லாதீர்கள்” என்றும் கூறுகின்றனர், (அதற்கு நபியே! அவர்களிடம்) நரகத்தின் நெருப்பு வெப்பத்தால் (இதைவிட) மிகக் கடுமையானதாகும்” என்று நீர் கூறுவீராக! (இதனை) அவர்கள் விளங்குபவர்களாக இருந்தால் (பின்தங்கி இருக்க மாட்டார்கள்.)

Those who stayed away (from Tabuk expedition) rejoiced in their staying behind the Messenger of Allâh; they hated to strive and fight with their properties and their lives in the Cause of Allâh, and they said: "March not forth in the heat." Say: "The Fire of Hell is more intense in heat"; if only they could understand!

ஆகவே (இம்மையில்) அவர்கள் வெகு சொற்பமாகவே சிரிக்கட்டும், அவர்கள் சம்பாதித்துக் கொண்டிருந்த (தீய)வற்றின் பிரதிபலனாக (மறுமையில்) அதிகமாக அவர்கள் அழட்டும்.

So let them laugh a little and (they will) cry much as a recompense of what they used to earn (by committing sins).

(நபியே!) நீர் அவர்களில் ஒரு சாராரின்பால் அல்லாஹ் உம்மை திரும்பி (வெற்றியுடன்) வரச்செய்து விட்டால் (உமது வெற்றியை அவர்கள் கண்டு உம்முடன் மற்றொரு யுத்தத்திற்குப்) புறப்பட உம்மிடம் அனுமதி கேட்பார்கள், அப்பொழுது “நீங்கள் ஒரு காலத்திலும் என்னுடன் புறப்படவே வேண்டாம், என்னுடன் சேர்ந்து எந்த விரோதியுடனும் நீங்கள் ஒருபோதும் யுத்தம் புரியவும் வேண்டாம், ஏனென்றால், நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் முதற்தடவையில், (வீட்டில்) தங்கிவிடுவதையே பொருந்திக் கொண்டீர்கள், ஆதலால் (இது சமயமும்) நீங்கள் வீட்டில் தங்கிவிடுவோருடன் இருந்து விடுங்கள்” என்று நீர் கூறுவீராக!

If Allâh brings you back to a party of them (the hypocrites), and they ask your permission to go out (to fight), say: "Never shall you go out with me nor fight an enemy with me; you were pleased to sit (inactive) on the first occasion, then you sit (now) with those who lag behind."

அன்றியும், அவர்களில் இறந்துபோன எந்த ஒருவரின் மீதும் ஒருபோதும் நீர் தொழுகையும் வைக்காதீர், அவருடைய கப்ரின்மீதும் (மன்னிப்புக்கோர) நிற்கவும் வேண்டாம், (ஏனென்றால்) நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வையும் அவனுடைய தூதரையும் நிராகரித்தார்கள், இன்னும் அவர்கள் பாவிகளாகவே இறந்துமிருக்கின்றனர்.

And never (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) pray (funeral prayer) for any of them (hypocrites) who dies, nor stand at his grave. Certainly they disbelieved in Allâh and His Messenger, and died while they were Fâsiqûn (rebellious, - disobedient to Allâh and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم).

அவர்களுடைய செல்வங்களும், அவர்களுடைய மக்களும் (அதிகரிப்பது) உம்மை ஆச்சரியப்படுத்த வேண்டாம், அல்லாஹ் நாடுவதெல்லாம் அவற்றைக்கொண்டு இவ்வுலகிலேயே அவர்களை அவன் வேதனை செய்வதையும் அவர்கள் (கர்வங்கொண்டு) நிராகரித்த வண்ணமே அவர்களின் உயிர்பிரிவதையும்தான்.

And let not their wealth or their children amaze you. Allâh’s Plan is to punish them with these things in this world, and that their souls shall depart (die) while they are disbelievers.

மேலும், “அல்லாஹ்வை விசுவாசம் கொள்ளுங்கள், அவனுடைய தூதருடன் (சேர்ந்து) யுத்தமும் புரியுங்கள்” என ஏதாவது ஒரு அத்தியாயம் இறக்கப்பட்டால், அவர்களிலுள்ள வசதி படைத்தவர்கள் (வீட்டில் தங்கிவிட) உம்மிடம் அனுமதி கோரி, “எங்களை விட்டு விடும், (வீட்டில்) தங்கியிருப்பவர்களுடன் நாங்களும் தங்கி விடுகின்றோம்” என்றும் கூறுகின்றனர்.

And when a Sûrah (chapter from the Qur’ân) is revealed, enjoining them to believe in Allâh and to strive hard and fight along with His Messenger, the wealthy among them ask your leave to exempt them (from Jihâd) and say, "Leave us (behind), we would be with those who sit (at home)."

(போரில் கலந்து கொள்ளாதிருக்க அனுமதியளிக்கப்பட்ட) பின்தங்கி விடுபவர்களுடன் தாங்களும் இருந்துவிடுவதை அவர்கள் பொருந்திக் கொண்டுவிட்டார்கள், அவர்களுடைய இதயங்களின்மீது முத்திரையிடப்பட்டுவிட்டது, ஆதலால் (இதிலுள்ள தீமையை) அவர்கள் விளங்கிக் கொள்ள மாட்டார்கள்.

They are content to be with those (the women) who sit behind (at home). Their hearts are sealed up (from all kinds of goodness and right guidance), so they understand not.

எனினும், (அல்லாஹ்வுடைய) தூதரும் அவருடன் உள்ள விசுவாசிகளும் தங்கள் செல்வங்களாலும், தங்கள் உயிர்களாலும் (அர்ப்பணம்செய்வது கொண்டு) யுத்தம் புரிகின்றார்கள், அத்தகையோர்-அவர்களுக்குத்தான் நன்மைகள் (யாவும்) உண்டு, மேலும், அத்தகையோர்-அவர்கள் தாம் வெற்றியடைந்தவர்கள்.

But the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) and those who believed with him (in Islâmic Monotheism) strove hard and fought with their wealth and their lives (in Allâh’s Cause). Such are they for whom are the good things, and it is they who will be successful.

அவர்களுக்காக சுவனபதிகளை அல்லாஹ் தயார் செய்து வைத்திருக்கின்றான், அவற்றின்கீழ் ஆறுகள் ஓடிக்கொண்டிருக்கும், அவற்றில் அவர்கள், நிரந்தரமாகத் தங்கி இருப்பவர்கள், அதுவே மகத்தான வெற்றியாகும்.

For them Allâh has got ready Gardens (Paradise) under which rivers flow, to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success.

(மதீனாவைச் சுற்றியுள்ள அரபிகளான) கிராமவாசிகளில் புகல் கூறுபவர்கள் (சிலர் யுத்தத்திற்குச் செல்லாதிருக்கத்) தங்களுக்காக அனுமதி அளிக்கப்பட வேண்டுமென்று (உம்மிடம்) வந்தனர், அல்லாஹ்வையும் அவனுடைய தூதரையும் பொய்யாக்கியவர்கள் (அனுமதி கோராமலேயே வீட்டில்) உட்கார்ந்து கொண்டனர், ஆகவே, இவர்களிலுள்ள (இந்) நிராகரித்தவர்களை மிகத் துன்புறுத்தும் வேதனையும் வந்தடையும்.

And those who made excuses from the bedouins came (to you, O Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) asking your permission to exempt them (from the battle), and those who had lied to Allâh and His Messenger sat at home (without asking the permission for it); a painful torment will seize those of them who disbelieve.

பலவீனர்களின் மீதும், நோயாளிகளின்மீதும், (யுத்தத்திற்குச்) செலவிடுவதற்கு எதையும் பெற்றுக் கொள்ளவில்லையே அவர்கள் மீதும் அல்லாஹ்விற்காகவும் அவனுடைய தூதருக்காகவும் அவர்கள் நன்மையை நாடியிருந்தார்களானால் (போருக்குச் செல்லாது வீட்டில் தங்கிவிடுவது) குற்றமில்லை, நன்மை செய்வோரின் மீது (குறை) எந்த வழியும் இல்லை, இன்னும், அல்லாஹ் மிகவும் மன்னிக்கிறவன், மிகக் கிருபையுடையவன்.

There is no blame on those who are weak or ill or who find no resources to spend [in holy fighting (Jihâd)], if they are sincere and true (in duty) to Allâh and His Messenger.¹ No ground (of complaint) can there be against the Muhsinûn (good-doers - See the footnote of V.9:120). And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

   CHAPTER. The Statement of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم : "Religion is An-Nasîhah (to be sincere and true) to: 1. Allâh جل جلاله i.e. [obeying Him, by following His Religion of Islamic Monotheism, attributing to Him what He deserves and doing Jihâd for His sake and to believe in Him, to fear Him much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Him much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)], 2. to Allâh’s Messenger [i.e., to respect him greatly and to believe that he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is Allâh’s Messenger, and to fight on his behalf both in his lifetime and after his death and to follow his Sunnah - (legal ways)] 3. to the Muslim rulers [i.e. to help them in their job of leading Muslims to the right path and alarm them if they are heedless] and 4. to all the Muslims (in common) [i.e. to order them for Al-Ma‘rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism, and all that Islâm orders one to do), and to forbid them from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism of all kinds, and all that Islâm has forbidden), and to be merciful and kind to them].

   And the Statement of Allâh تعالى : "If they are sincere and true (in duty) to Allâh (جل جلاله) and His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم)." (V.9:91)

   Narrated, Jarîr bin Abdullâh رضي الله عنه : I gave the Bai‘a (pledge) to Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم for the following:

   Iqâmat-as-Salât (to perform prayers).

   2. To pay the Zakât .

   3. And to be sincere and true to every Muslim [i.e. to order them for Al-Ma‘rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism, and all that Islâm orders one to do), and to forbid them from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism of all kinds, and all that Islâm has forbidden), and to help them, and to be merciful and kind to them]. (Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.1, Hadîth No.54 and its Chapter No.43).

(யுத்தத்திற்குரிய) வாகனத்தை நீர் தருவீரென உம்மிடம் அவர்கள் வந்தபொழுது “எதன் மீது உங்களை நான் ஏற்றிச் செல்வேனோ அத்தகைய (வாகனத்தை) நான் பெற்றுக் கொள்ளவில்லையே” என்று கூறினீர், அவர்கள்தாம் செலவு செய்வதற்கு எதையும் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லையே என்ற துக்கத்தினால் தங்கள் கண்கள் கண்ணீர் வடித்தவாறு (தம் இருப்பிடம்) திரும்பிச் சென்றார்களே அவர்கள்மீது குற்றம் இல்லை.

Nor (is there blame) on those who came to you to be provided with mounts, when you said: "I can find no mounts for you," they turned back, while their eyes overflowing with tears of grief that they could not find anything to spend (for Jihâd).

(குற்றம் சுமத்தப்படும்) வழியெல்லாம் அவர்கள் பணக்காரர்களாக இருக்க உம்மிடம் அனுமதி கோரி (யுத்தத்திற்குச் செல்லாது வீட்டில்) தங்கிவிடுவோர்களுடன் தாங்களும் இருந்து விடுவதைப் பொருந்திக் கொண்டார்களே, அத்தகையவர்கள் மீதுதான், மேலும், அவர்களுடைய இதயங்கள்மீது அல்லாஹ் முத்திரையிட்டுவிட்டான், ஆகவே, அவர்கள் (இதனால் இதன் தீமையை) அறிந்து கொள்ள மாட்டார்கள்.

The ground (of complaint) is only against those who are rich, and yet ask exemption.¹ They are content to be with (the women) who sit behind (at home) and Allâh has sealed up their hearts (from all kinds of goodness and right guidance) so that they know not (what they are losing).

   Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه : The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "A Prophet amongst the Prophets carried out a holy military expedition, so he said to his followers, ‘Anyone who has married a woman and wants to consummate the marriage, and has not done so yet, should not accompany me; nor should a man who has built a house but has not completed its roof; nor a man who has sheep or she-camels and is waiting for the birth of their young ones.’ So, the Prophet carried out the expedition and when he reached that town at the time or nearly at the time of the ‘Asr prayer, he said to the sun, ‘O sun! You are under Allâh’s Order and I am under Allâh’s Order. O Allâh! Stop it (i.e. the sun) from setting.’ It was stopped till Allâh made him victorious. Then he collected the booty and the fire came to burn it, but it did not burn it*. He said (to his men), ‘Some of you have stolen something from the booty. So one man from every tribe should give me a Bai‘a (pledge) by shaking hands with me.’ (They did so and) the hand of a man got stuck in the hand of their Prophet. Then that Prophet said (to the man), ‘The theft has been committed by your people. So all the persons of your tribe should give me the Bai‘a (pledge) by shaking hands with me.’ The hands of two or three men got stuck in the hand of their Prophet and he said, ‘You have committed the theft.’ Then they brought a head of gold like the head of a cow and put it there, and the fire came and consumed the booty. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم added: "Then Allâh saw our weakness and disability, so He made booty legal for us." (Sahin Al-Bukhâri, Vol.4, Hadîth No.353).

   * Booty used to be burnt by a fire sent by Allâh.

(விசுவாசிகளே! போர்செய்து) நீங்கள் (வெற்றியோடு) அவர்களிடம் திரும்புவீர்களானால் உங்களிடம் அவர்கள் (வராததற்காக) புகல் கூறுகின்றனர், (அதற்கு நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக! “நீங்கள் புகல் கூறாதீர்கள், நாங்கள் உங்களை நம்பவே மாட்டோம், உங்கள் விஷயங்களை திட்டமாக அல்லாஹ் எங்களுக்கு அறிவித்து விட்டான், அல்லாஹ்வும் அவனுடைய தூதரும் உங்கள் செயலைக் காணுவார்கள், பின்னர் மறைவானதையும் வெளிப்படையானதையும் அறிந்தவனிடம் நீங்கள் திருப்பப்படுவீர்கள், நீங்கள் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தவைகளை உங்களுக்கு அவன் அறிவிப்பான்.

They (the hypocrites) will present their excuses to you (Muslims), when you return to them. Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) "Present no excuses, we shall not believe you. Allâh has already informed us of the news concerning you. Allâh and His Messenger will observe your deeds. In the end you will be brought back to the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen, then He (Allâh) will inform you of what you used to do." [Tafsir At-Tabari]

(விசுவாசிகளே! வெற்றியுடன்) அவர்களிடம் நீங்கள் திரும்பி விடுவீர்களானால் நீங்கள் அவர்களைப் புறக்கணித்து விட்டு விடுவதற்காக அல்லாஹ்வைக்கொண்டு அவர்கள் உங்களிடம் சத்தியம் செய்வார்கள், ஆகவே, நீங்களும் அவர்களைப் புறக்கணித்து விட்டுவிடுங்கள். நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் அசுத்தமானவர்கள், அவர்கள் சம்பாதித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தவற்றிற்குக் கூலியாக அவர்கள் செல்லுமிடமும் நரகம்தான்.

They will swear by Allâh to you (Muslims) when you return to them, that you may turn away from them. So turn away from them. Surely, they are Rijs [i.e. Najas (impure) because of their evil deeds], and Hell is their dwelling place - a recompense for that which they used to earn.

அவர்களைப் பற்றி நீங்கள் திருப்தியடைவதற்காக அவர்கள் உங்களிடம் சத்தியம் செய்கின்றனர், ஆகவே, அவர்களைப்பற்றி நீங்கள் திருப்தியடைந்தாலும், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் பாவிகளான இந்தக் கூட்டத்தாரைப் பற்றித் திருப்தியடையமாட்டான்.

They (the hypocrites) swear to you (Muslims) that you may be pleased with them, but if you are pleased with them, certainly Allâh is not pleased with the people who are Al-Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).

(அரபிகளிலுள்ள) கிராமவாசிகள் நிராகரிப்பிலும் ‘நிஃபாக்’கிலும் (-கபடத்தனத்திலும்) மிகக் கொடியவர்கள், அன்றியும், அல்லாஹ் தன் தூதர்மீது இறக்கிவைத்திருக்கும் (வேத வரம்புகளை அறியாதிருக்கவும் மிகத் தகுதியானவர்கள், (கல்வியால் குறைந்தவர்களாவா்.) இன்னும் அல்லாஹ் யாவற்றையும் நன்கறிகிறவன், தீர்க்கமான அறிவுடையவன்.

The bedouins are the worst in disbelief and hypocrisy, and more likely to be in ignorance of the limits (Allâh’s Commandments and His Laws) which Allâh has revealed to His Messenger. And Allâh is All-Knower, All-Wise.

(அரபிகளிலுள்ள) கிராமவாசிகளில் (சிலர்) அவர்கள் (தர்மத்திற்காகச்) செய்யும் செலவை நஷ்டமாக (க்கருதி அதை) ஆக்குவோரும் இருக்கின்றனர். (ஆபத்துச்) சுழற்ச்சிகளையும் அவர்கள் உங்களுக்கு எதிர் பார்க்கின்றனர். (ஆபத்துகளின்) தீயசுழற்ச்சி அவர்கள் மீதுதான் இருக்கிறது, மேலும், அல்லாஹ் செவியுறுகிறவன்; நன்கறிந்தவன்.

And of the bedouins there are some who look upon what they spend (in Allâh’s Cause) as a fine and watch for calamities for you, on them be the calamity of evil. And Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

(அரபிகளிலுள்ள) கிராமவாசிகளில் (சிலர்) அல்லாஹ்வையும் இறுதி நாளையும் விசுவாசங் கொள்கின்ற சிலரும் இருக்கின்றனர், அவர்கள், தாம் (தர்மமாகச்) செலவு செய்வதை அல்லாஹ்விடத்தில் நெருக்கங்களுக்காகவும் (அவனுடைய தூதரின் பிரார்த்தனைகளுக்காகவும் ஆக்குகின்றனர், நிச்சயமாக அது அவர்களை (அல்லாஹ்வுக்கு)ச் சமீபமாக்கிவைக்கும் என்பதை அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள்! அல்லாஹ் அவர்களை தன் அருளில் நுழைவிப்பான்; நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ், மிக்க மன்னிக்கிறவன், மிகக் கிருபையுடையவன்.

And of the bedouins there are some who believe in Allâh and the Last Day, and look upon what they spend in Allâh’s Cause as means of nearness to Allâh, and a cause of receiving the Messenger’s invocations. Indeed these (spendings in Allâh’s Cause) are a means of nearness for them. Allâh will admit them to His Mercy. Certainly Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

முஹாஜிர்களிலும் அன்ஸார்களிலும் (இஸ்லாத்தை ஏற்க) முதலாவதாக முந்திக் கொண்டவர்களும் (அவர்களின் சொல், செயல்களாகிய) நற்கருமத்தில் அவர்களைப் பின்பற்றினார்களே அவர்களும்-அவர்களை அல்லாஹ் திருப்தியடைந்தான், அவர்களும் (அல்லாஹ்வாகிய) அவனை திருப்தியடைந்தனர், அன்றியும், சுவனபதிகளை அவர்களுக்கென அவன் தயாராக்கி வைத்திருக்கின்றான், அவற்றின் கீழ் ஆறுகள் ஓடிக்கொண்டிருக்கும், அவர்கள், அவற்றிலேயே நிரந்தரமாக(த் தங்கி) இருப்பவர்கள், இது மகத்தான வெற்றியாகும்.

And the foremost to embrace Islâm of the Muhâjirûn (those who migrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah) and the Ansâr (the citizens of Al-Madinah who helped and gave aid to the Muhâjirûn ) and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allâh is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success.

உங்களைச் சுற்றியுள்ள (அரபிகளிலுள்ள) கிராமத்துவாசிகளில் முனாஃபிக்குகளும் (வேஷதாரிகளும்) இருக்கின்றனர், மதீனாவாசிகளிலும் சிலர் நிஃபாக்கிலேயே (கபடத்திலேயே) நிலைத்து விட்டவர்களும் இருக்கின்றார்கள், (நபியே!) நீர் அவர்களை அறியமாட்டீர், நாமே அவர்களை அறிவோம், அவர்களை இருமுறை நாம் வேதனை செய்வோம், பின்னர் (முடிவாக) கடுமையான வேதனையின்பால் அவர்கள் திருப்பப்படுவார்கள்.

And among the bedouins around you, some are hypocrites, and so are some among the people of Al-Madinah who persist in hypocrisy; you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) know them not, We know them. We shall punish them twice, and thereafter they shall be brought back to a great (horrible) torment.

இன்னும் வேறு சிலர், (அவர்கள்) தங்கள் பாவங்களை ஒப்புக்கொண்டவர்களாகிய நல்ல செயலை மற்றொரு தீய செயலைக் கொண்டும் கலந்து விட்டனர், அல்லாஹ் அவர்(களுடைய தவ்பாவை ஏற்று பாவங்)களை மன்னித்துவிடப் போதுமானவன், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ், மிக்க மன்னிக்கிறவன், மிகக் கிருபையுடையவன்.

And (there are) others who have acknowledged their sins, they have mixed a deed that was righteous with another that was evil. Perhaps Allâh will turn unto them in forgiveness. Surely, Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.¹

   The Statement of Allâh عز وجل : "And (there are) others who have acknowledged their sins..." (V.9:102)

   Narrated Samurah bin Jundub رضي الله عنه : Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Tonight two (visitors) came to me (in my dream) and took me to a town built with gold bricks and silver bricks. There, we met men who, (by) half of their bodies looked like the most handsome human beings you have ever seen, and (by) the other half, the ugliest human beings you have ever seen. Those two visitors said to those men: ‘Go and dip yourselves in that river.’ So they dipped themselves therein and then came to us, their ugliness having disappeared and they were in the most handsome shape. The visitors said, ‘This is the ‘Adn Paradise, and that is your dwelling place.’ Then they added, ‘As for those people who were half ugly and half handsome, they were those who have mixed deeds that were good with deeds that were evil, but Allâh forgave them.’ " (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.6, Hadith No.196).

(நபியே!) அவர்களுடைய செல்வங்களிலிருந்து தர்மத்தை (ஜகாத்தை) எடுப்பீராக! அதனால் அவர்களை நீர் சுத்தப்படுத்தி அவர்களின் அகங்களை தூய்மையாக்கி வைப்பீராக! மேலும், அவர்களுக்காகப் பிரார்த்தனை செய்வீராக! நிச்சயமாக உமது பிரார்த்தனை அவர்களுக்கு நிம்மதியளிப்பதாகும், மேலும் அல்லாஹ், செவியேற்கிறவன், மிக்க அறிகிறவன்.

Take Sadaqah (alms) from their wealth in order to purify them and sanctify them with it, and invoke Allâh for them. Verily! Your invocations are a source of security for them; and Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்-தன் அடியார்களிடமிருந்து தவ்பாவை (மன்னிப்புக் கோருதலை) அவனே ஒப்புக்கொள்கின்றான் என்பதையும், தருமங்களையும் அவனே எடுத்துக் கொள்கிறான் என்பதையும் இன்னும் நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ், அவனே தவ்பாக்களை மிகுதியாக ஏற்போன், மிகக் கிருபையுடையோன் என்பதையும் அவர்கள் அறியவில்லையா?

Know they not that Allâh accepts repentance from His slaves and takes the Sadaqât (alms, charity), and that Allâh Alone is the One Who forgives and accepts repentance, Most Merciful?

மேலும், (நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக “நீங்கள் செய்பவற்றைச் செய்யுங்கள், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வும், அவனுடைய தூதரும் விசுவாசிகளும் உங்கள் செயலைப் பார்ப்பார்கள், மேலும், மறைவானதையும் வெளிப்படையானதையும் அறிந்தவன்பால் நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் திருப்பப்படுவீர்கள், அப்போது நீங்கள் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தவற்றைப் பற்றி அவன் உங்களுக்கு அறிவித்து விடுவான்.

And say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) "Do deeds! Allâh will see your deeds, and (so will) His Messenger and the believers. And you will be brought back to the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen. Then He will inform you of what you used to do."

வேறு சிலரோ அல்லாஹ்வின் உத்தரவிற்காக பிற்படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளனர், (அல்லாஹ்) ஒருவேளை அவர்களை வேதனை செய்யலாம் அல்லது அவர்களை மன்னித்து (விட்டு அவர்களின் தவ்பாவை அங்கீகரித்து)ம் விடலாம், மேலும், அல்லாஹ் (அவர்கள் செயலை) நன்கறிகிறவன், தீர்க்கமான அறிவுடையவன்.

And others are made to await for Allâh’s Decree, whether He will punish them or will forgive them. And Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

(முஸ்லிம்களுக்குத்) தீங்கிழைப்பதற்காகவும் (அல்லாஹ்வை) நிராகரிப்பதற்காகவும் விசுவாசிகளுக்கிடையில் பிரிவினையை உண்டு பண்ணுவதற்காகவும் முன்னர் அல்லாஹ்வுடனும் அவனுடைய தூதருடனும் விரோதமாய் போர் புரிந்தவர்களுக்குப் பதுங்குமிடமாயிருப்பதற்காகவும் ஒரு பள்ளியைக் கட்டியிருக்கின்றார்களே அத்தகையோர்-(அந்நயவஞ்சகர்களில் இருக்கின்றனர்.) மேலும், “நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் நன்மையைத் தவிர வேறெதனையும் நாடவில்லை” என்று திண்ணமாக சத்தியமும் செய்கின்றனர், இன்னும், நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் பொய்யர்கள் என்று அல்லாஹ் சாட்சி கூறுகின்றான்.

And as for those who put up a mosque by way of harm and disbelief and to disunite the believers and as an outpost for those who warred against Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) aforetime, they will indeed swear that their intention is nothing but good. Allâh bears witness that they are certainly liars.

(நபியே!) நீர் ஒருபோதும் அதில் (தொழுவதற்காக) நிற்க வேண்டாம், ஆரம்ப நாளிலிருந்தே (அல்லாஹ்வின்) பயபக்தியின் மீது அஸ்திவாரமிடப்பட்ட பள்ளியானது, அதில்தான், நீர் (தொழுகைக்காக) நிற்பது மிகத் தகுதியுடையது, பரிசுத்தமாக இருப்பதையே விரும்பும் சிறந்த மனிதர்கள் அதில் இருக்கின்றனர், அல்லாஹ்வும் (இத்தகைய) பரிசுத்தமாக இருப்போரை நேசிக்கின்றான்.

Never stand you therein. Verily, the mosque whose foundation was laid from the first day on piety is more worthy that you stand therein (to pray). In it are men who love to clean and to purify themselves. And Allâh loves those who make themselves clean and pure [i.e. who clean their private parts with dust (which has the properties of soap) and water from urine and stools, after answering the call of nature].

ஆகவே, அல்லாஹ்விடமிருந்துள்ள பயபக்தியின் மீதும் (அவனுடைய) பொருத்தத்தின் மீதும் தன் கட்டடத்தை அஸ்திவாரமிட்டவர் சிறந்தவரா? அல்லது தன் கட்டிடத்தை வெள்ளத்தால் அரிக்கப்பட்டு விழுந்துவிடும் ஓரக்கரையின்மீது அஸ்திவாரமிட்டவரா? ஆகவே, அது அவருடன் சேர்ந்து நரக நெருப்பில் சரிந்து விழுந்துவிட்டது, மேலும், அநியாயக்கார சமூகத்தாரை அல்லாஹ் நேர் வழியில், செலுத்தமாட்டான்.

Is it then he who laid the foundation of his building on piety to Allâh and His Good Pleasure better, or he who laid the foundation of his building on the brink of an undetermined precipice ready to crumble down, so that it crumbled to pieces with him into the Fire of Hell. And Allâh guides not the people who are the Zâlimûn (cruel, violent, proud, polytheist and wrong-doer).

அவர்கள் கட்டிய அவர்களின் கட்டடம் அவர்களின் இதயங்களில் சந்தேகத்தை உடையதாகவே-அவர்களுடைய இதயங்கள் துண்டு துண்டா(கி அவர்கள் மரணிக்)கும்வரை இருந்து கொண்டிருக்கும், மேலும், அல்லாஹ் யாவரையும் நன்கறிகிறவன், தீர்க்கமான அறிவுடையவன்.

The building which they built will never cease to be a cause of hypocrisy and doubt in their hearts unless their hearts are cut to pieces. (i.e. till they die). And Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ், விசுவாசிகளிடமிருந்து அவர்களின் உயிர்களையும் அவர்களது செல்வங்களையும் நிச்சயமாக அவர்களுக்குச் சுவனம் உண்டு என்பதற்குப் பகரமாக (விலைக்கு) வாங்கிக் கொண்டான், அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வுடைய பாதையில் போர் செய்து, அப்போது (விரோதிகளைக்) கொன்று விடுவார்கள், (அல்லது விரோதிகளால்) கொல்லப்பட்டும் விடுவார்கள், (இவர்களுக்குச் சுவனபதி தருவதாக) தவ்றாத்திலும், இன்ஜீலிலும் குர்ஆனிலும் (அல்லாஹ்) தன்மீது உண்மையான வாக்குறுதியாக (ஆக்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றான்.) அல்லாஹ்வைவிட தன் வாக்குறுதியைப் பூரணமாக நிறைவேற்றுபவர் யார்? ஆகவே (விசுவாசிகளாகிய) நீங்கள் எதைக் கொண்டு ஒப்பந்தம் செய்து கொண்டீர்களோ அத்தகைய உங்களுடைய (இவ்)வர்த்தகத்தைக் கொண்டு மகிழ்ச்சியடையுங்கள், மேலும், இதுவேதான் மகத்தான வெற்றியாகும்.

Verily, Allâh has purchased of the believers their lives and their properties for (the price) that theirs shall be the Paradise. They fight in Allâh’s Cause, so they kill (others) and are killed. It is a promise in truth which is binding on Him in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) and the Qur’ân. And who is truer to his covenant than Allâh? Then rejoice in the bargain which you have concluded. That is the supreme success.¹

   a) Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه : Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Allâh guarantees him who strives in His Cause and whose motivation for going out is nothing but Jihâd in His Cause and belief in His Words (Islamic Monotheism), that He will admit him into Paradise (if martyred) or bring him back to his dwelling place whence he has come out with what he gains of reward or booty." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.4, Hadith No.352).

   b) Narrated Jâbir bin ‘Abdullâh رضي الله عنهما : On the day of the battle of Uhud, a man came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and said, "Can you tell me where I will be if I should get martyred?" The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم replied, "In Paradise." The man threw away some dates he was carrying in his hand, and fought till he was martyred. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.5, Hadith No.377).

   c) Narrated Ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما: I heard Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم saying "If you (1) practise Bai‘ Al-‘Inah (the ‘Inah transaction i.e. selling goods to a person for a certain price and then buying them back from him for a far less price); (2) and followed the tails of the cows (i.e. indulged in agriculture and became content with it), (3) and deserted the Jihâd (holy fighting) in Allâh’s Cause, Allâh will cover you with humiliation, and it will not be removed till you return back to your religion." (Abu Dâwûd, Vol.3, Hadith No.3462).

(அத்தகையவர்கள்) பாவத்திலிருந்து மன்னிப்புக்கோரி (தவ்பாச்செய்து) மீண்டவர்கள் (அல்லாஹ் ஒருவனையே) வணங்குபவர்கள், புகழ்பவர்கள், நோன்பு நோற்பவர்கள், ருகூஉ செய்பவர்கள், ஸூஜூது செய்பவர்கள், நன்மையான காரியங்களைச் செய்யும்படி ஏவுபவர்கள், தீமையானவற்றை விட்டும் விலகுபவர்கள், அல்லாஹ்வுடைய வரம்புகளைப் பேணுபவர்கள் - (அவர்கள்தான் அல்லாஹ்விடம் தங்களை விற்றவர்களாவார்கள்) விசுவாசிகளுக்கு (ச் சுவனபதி உண்டென்று நபியே!) நீர் நன்மாராயமும் கூறுவீராக!(15)

(The believers whose lives Allâh has purchased are) those who turn to Allâh in repentance (from polytheism and hypocrisy, etc.), who worship (Him), who praise (Him), who fast (or go out in Allâh’s Cause), who bow down (in prayer), who prostrate themselves (in prayer), who enjoin (on people) Al-Ma‘rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all what Islâm has ordained) and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism of all kinds and all that Islâm has forbidden), and who observe the limits set by Allâh (do all that Allâh has ordained and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which Allâh has forbidden). And give glad tidings to the believers.¹

   Narrated Sahl bin Sa‘d: Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Whoever can guarantee (the chastity of) what is between his two jaw-bones and what is between his two legs (i.e., his mouth, tongue and his private parts)*. I guarantee Paradise for him." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.8, Hadith No.481)

   * i.e. whoever protects his tongue from illegal talk e.g., to tell lies, or backbiting, etc., and his mouth from eating and drinking forbidden illegal things, and his private parts from illegal sexual acts.

நபிக்கோ,-விசுவாசிகளுக்கோ இணைவைத்துக் கொண்டிருப்போருக்காக–அவர்கள் (இவர்களுக்கு) நெருங்கிய பந்துக்களாக இருந்தாலும் அவர்கள் நிச்சயமாக நரகவாசிகள்தாம் என்று இவர்களுக்கு தெளிவானதன் பின்னர் - மன்னிப்புக் கோருவது ஆகுமானதல்ல.

It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask Allâh’s Forgiveness for the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh), even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief).

மேலும், (நபி) இப்ராஹீம் தன் தந்தைக்காக மன்னிப்புக் கோரியது ஒரு வாக்குறுதியே தவிர வேறில்லை, அதை அவருக்கு அவர் வாக்களித்திருந்தார், பின்னர் நிச்சயமாக (அவருடைய தந்தையாகிய) அவர் அல்லாஹ்வுக்கு விரோதி எனத் தெளிவாகிவிட்ட பொழுது அதிலிருந்து அவர் விலகிக் கொண்டார், நிச்சயமாக இப்ராஹீம் மிக்க இரக்க மனமுடையவர், துன்பங்களைச் சகித்துக் கொள்ளக்கூடியவர்.

And Ibrâhîm’s (Abraham) invoking (of Allâh) for his father’s forgiveness was only because of a promise he [Ibrâhîm (Abraham)] had made to him (his father). But when it became clear to him [Ibrâhîm (Abraham)] that he (his father) is an enemy of Allâh, he dissociated himself from him. Verily Ibrâhîm (Abraham) was Awwah (one who invokes Allâh with humility, glorifies Him and remembers Him much) and was forbearing. (Tafsir Al-Qurtubî)¹.

எந்தக் கூட்டத்தினரையும் -அல்லாஹ் அவர்களுக்கு நேர்வழி காட்டிய பின்னர், அவர்கள் விலகிக் கொள்ள வேண்டியதை அவன் அவர்களுக்கு விவரமாகத் தெளிவுபடுத்துகின்றவரை, அவர்களை அவன் வழி கெடுப்பவனாக இல்லை, நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ், ஒவ்வொரு பொருளைப் பற்றியும் நன்கறிகிறவன்.

And Allâh will never lead a people astray after He has guided them until He makes clear to them as to what they should avoid. Verily, Allâh is the All-Knower of everything.¹

   And the Statement of Allâh تعالى: ‘And Allâh will never lead a people astray after He has guided them, until He makes clear to them what they should avoid...’ (V.9:115) And Ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما used to consider them (the Khawarij and the Mulhidûn) the worst of Allâh’s creatures and said, "These people took some Verses that had been revealed concerning the disbelievers and interpreted them as describing the believers."

   Narrated ‘Abdullâh bin ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما regarding Al-Haruriyah: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "They will go out of Islâm as an arrow darts out of the game’s body." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.9, Hadith No.66).

நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ், அவனுக்கே வானங்கள் மற்றும் பூமியின் ஆட்சி உரியது, (அவனே) உயிர்ப்பிக்கின்றான், (அவனே) மரணிக்கும்படியும் செய்கின்றான், அல்லாஹ்வையன்றி உங்களுக்கு எந்த பாதுகாவலரும் இல்லை, எந்த உதவியாளரும் இல்லை.

Verily, Allâh! Unto Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, He gives life and He causes death. And besides Allâh you have neither any Walî (protector or guardian) nor any helper.

(அல்லாஹ் தன்னுடைய நபியின் மீதும், (அவ்வாறே) ‘முஹாஜிர்கள்’ மீதும் இன்னும் அன்ஸார்கள் மீதும் (தவ்பாவை ஏற்று) திட்டமாக அல்லாஹ் பாவமன்னிப்புச் செய்தான், அவர்கள் எத்தகையவர்களென்றால், அவர்களில் ஒரு சாராரின் இதயங்கள் சறுகி விடுவதற்கு நெருங்கிய பின்னர் நெருக்கடி சமயத்தில் (நமது நபியாகிய) அவரை முழு மனதுடன்) பின்பற்றினர், பின்னும், அவர்கள் மீது (தவ்பாவை ஏற்று) பாவமன்னிப்புச் செய்தான், நிச்சயமாக அவன் அவர்களோடு மிக்க இரக்கமுடையவன், மிகக் கிருபையுடையவன்.

Allâh has forgiven the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), the Muhâjirûn (Muslim emigrants who left their homes and came to Al-Madinah) and the Ansâr (Muslims of Al-Madinah) who followed him (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) in the time of distress (Tabûk expedition), after the hearts of a party of them had nearly deviated (from the Right Path), but He accepted their repentance. Certainly, He is unto them full of Kindness, Most Merciful.

பிற்படுத்தி வைக்கப்பட்டிருந்தோரான மூவரின் மீதும் (அல்லாஹ் அவர்களின் தவ்பாவை ஏற்று மன்னித்துவிட்டான்) முடிவில் பூமி – அது விஸ்தீரணமாக இருந்தும் அவர்களுக்கு நெருக்கடியாகிவிட்டது, இன்னும், அவர்கள்மீது அவர்களின் உயிர்களும் நெருக்கடியாகிவிட்டன, அல்லாஹ்விடமிருந்து ஒதுங்குமிடம் அவனின்பால் அல்லாது இல்லை என்பதையும் அவர்கள் உறுதியாக அறிந்துகொண்டனர், ஆதலால் அவர்கள் (பாவத்திலிருந்து) விலகிக் கொள்வதற்காக, அவர்களை மன்னித்து அருள் புரிந்தான், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வே தவ்பாவை மிகவும் ஏற்)று மிக்க மன்னிப்ப)வன், மிகக் கிருபையுடையவன்.

And (He did forgive also) the three [who did not join the Tabûk expedition whose case was deferred (by the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم)] (for Allâh’s Decision) till for them the earth, vast as it is, was straitened and their ownselves were straitened to them, and they perceived that there is no fleeing from Allâh, and no refuge but with Him. Then, He forgave them (accepted their repentance), that they might beg for His pardon [repent (unto Him)] Verily, Allâh is the One Who forgives and accepts repentance, Most Merciful.

விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரே! நீங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வுக்குப் பயந்து கொள்ளுங்கள், (சொல்லாலும், செயலாலும்) உண்மையாளர்களுடனும் ஆகிவிடுங்கள்.

O you who believe! Be afraid of Allâh, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds).¹

   a) Narrated ‘Abdullâh رضي الله عنه : The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Truthfulness leads to Al-Birr (righteousness) and Al-Birr (righteousness) leads to Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to Al-Fujûr (i.e. wickedness - evil-doing), and Al-Fujûr leads to the (Hell) Fire, and a man keeps on telling lies until he is written as a liar before Allâh." (Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.8, Hadîth No.116).

   b) Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه : Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "The signs of a hypocrite are three: Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie; and whenever he promises, he breaks his promise; and whenever he is entrusted, he betrays (proves to be dishonest)." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.8, Hadith No.117).

   c) Narrated Samurah bin Jundub رضي الله عنه : The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "I saw (in a dream), two men came to me." Then the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم narrated the story (saying): "They said: The person, the one whose cheek you saw being torn away (from the mouth to the ear) was a liar and used to tell lies and the people would report those lies on his authority till they spread all over the world. So he will be punished like that till the Day of Resurrection." (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.8, Hadith No.118).

மதீனாவாசிகளுக்கும் (அரபிகளிலுள்ள) கிராமவாசிகளில் அவர்களைச் சூழ வசிப்பவருக்கும்-அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வுடைய தூதரின் உயிரைவிடத் தங்களின் உயிர்களையே (பெரிதாகக் கருதி) ஆசைவைப்பதும் அவர்களுக்குத் தகுமானதல்ல, அதன் காரணமாவது, “நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள், அல்லாஹ்வின் பாதையில் (செல்கையில்)தாகம், களைப்பு, பசி ஆகியவையும் அவர்களுக்கு ஏற்படுவதில்லை, (அதுபோன்றே) நிராகரிப்பவர்களை ஆத்திரமூட்டக்கூடிய எந்த இடத்திலும் அவர்கள் மிதிப்பதுமில்லை, எதிரியிடமிருந்து எ(ந்த துன்பத்)தையும் அவர்கள் அடைவதுமில்லை, அவற்றுக்குப் பகரமாக அவர்களுக்கு நல்ல செயல் (அதனுடைய நன்மை) எழுதப்பட்டே தவிர” என்பதாகும், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ், (இத்தகைய) நன்மை செய்தோரின் கூலியை வீணாக்கிவிடமாட்டான்.

It was not becoming of the people of Al-Madinah and the bedouins of the neighbourhood to remain behind Allâh’s Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم when fighting in Allâh’s Cause) and (it was not becoming of them) to prefer their own lives to his life. That is because they suffer neither thirst nor fatigue, nor hunger in the Cause of Allâh, nor they take any step to raise the anger of disbelievers nor inflict any injury upon an enemy but is written to their credit as a deed of righteousness. Surely, Allâh wastes not the reward of the Muhsinûn ¹

1. Muhsinûn: Doers of good, i.e. those who perform good deeds totally for Allâh’s sake only without any show-off or to gain praise or fame, etc., and they do them in accordance with the Sunnah (legal ways) of Allâh’s Messenger, Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.
