9. At-Tawbah

(விசுவாசிகளே! இது) இணைவைத்துக் கொண்டிருப்போரில் நீங்கள் உடன்படிக்கை செய்து கொண்டிருந்தீர்களே அத்தகையோர் பால் அல்லாஹ்வும் அவனுடைய தூதரும் நீங்கிக் கொண்ட(து பற்றிய)தாகும்.

Freedom from (all) obligations (is declared) from Allâh and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) to those of the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh), with whom you made a treaty.

ஆகவே (இணைவைத்துக் கொண்டிருப்போரே,) நீங்கள் இவற்றிலிருந்து நான்கு மாதங்கள் (வரையில்) பூமியில் (எங்கும்) சுற்றித்திரியுங்கள், நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வை இயலாமையில் ஆக்கக்கூடியவர்களல்லர் என்பதையும், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் நிராகரிப்போரை இழிவுபடுத்தக்கூடியவன் என்பதையும், நீங்கள் உறுதியாக அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள்!” என்று நபியே! நீர் கூறுவீராக!

So travel freely (O Mushrikûn - See V.2:105) for four months (as you will) throughout the land, but know that you cannot escape (from the punishment of) Allâh; and Allâh will disgrace the disbelievers.

(இது) நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வும், அவனுடைய தூதரும்) இணைவைத்துக் கொண்டிருப்போரிலிருந்து விலகிக் கொண்டவர்கள் என்ற விஷயத்தை (ஹஜ்ஜுல் அக்பர் எனும்) இம்மாபெரும் ஹஜ்ஜுடைய நாளில் அல்லாஹ்விடமிருந்தும் அவனின் தூதரிடமிருந்தும் மனிதர்கள்பால் பகிரங்கமாக அறிவிப்பதாகும், ஆகவே, (இணைவைத்துக் கொண்டிருப்போரே!) நீங்கள் தவ்பாச்செய்து கொண்டால், அது உங்களுக்குத்தான் மிக்க நன்று, (அவ்வாறின்றி) நீங்கள் புறக்கணித்தாலோ, நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வை இயலாமையில் ஆக்கக்கூடியவர்களல்லர் என்பதையும் அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள், (நபியே! (இந்) நிராகரிப்போருக்கு துன்புறுத்தும் வேதனையைக் கொண்டு நீர் நன்மாராயங் கூறுவீராக!

And a declaration from Allâh and His Messenger to mankind on the greatest day (the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah - the 12th month of Islâmic calendar) that Allâh is free from (all) obligations to the Mushrikûn (See V.2:105) and so is His Messenger. So if you (Mushrikûn ) repent, it is better for you, but if you turn away, then know that you cannot escape (from the Punishment of) Allâh. And give tidings (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) of a painful torment to those who disbelieve.

.(ஆயினும்) இணைவைத்துக் கொண்டிருப்போரிலிருந்து நீங்கள் உடன்படிக்கை செய்து கொண்டு பிறகு யாதொன்றையும் உங்களுக்குக் குறைவு செய்யாமலும், உங்களுக்கு விரோதமாக எவருக்கும் உதவி செய்யாமலும் இருக்கின்றனரே அத்தகையோரைத் தவிர, அவர்களின் உடன்படிக்கையை அதன் தவணை வரையில் அவர்களுக்குப் பூர்த்தியாக்கி வையுங்கள், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் பயபக்தியுடையோரை நேசிக்கின்றான்.

Except those of the Mushrikûn (see V.2:105) with whom you have a treaty, and who have not subsequently failed you in aught, nor have supported anyone against you. So fulfil their treaty to them for the end of their term. Surely Allâh loves Al-Mattaqûn (the pious - See V.2:2).

ஆகவே, சிறப்புற்ற மாதங்கள் சென்றுவிட்டால், இணைவைத்துக் கொண்டிருப்போரை – அவர்களைக் கண்டவிடமெல்லாம் கொன்றுவிடுங்கள், இன்னும், அவர்களைப் பிடியுங்கள், அவர்களை முற்றுகையிடுங்கள், ஒவ்வொரு பதுங்குமிடத்திலும், அவர்களைக் குறிவைத்து உட்காருங்கள், பின்னர் அவர்கள் (தங்கள் பாவங்களுக்கு) பச்சாதாபப்பட்டு விலகி, (விசுவாசித்துத் தொழுகையையும் நிறைவேற்றி ஜகாத்தையும் கொடுத்து வந்தால், அவர்கள் வழியில் (அவர்களை) விட்டு விடுங்கள், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் மிக்க மன்னிப்பவன், மிகக் கிருபையுடையவன்.

Then when the Sacred Months (the 1st, 7th, 11th, and 12th months of the Islâmic calendar) have passed, then kill the Mushrikûn (See V.2:105) wherever you find them, and capture them and besiege them, and lie in wait for them in each and every ambush. But if they repent and perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and give Zakât, then leave their way free. Verily, Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.¹

How can you fight these people although Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said, " I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: La ilâha illallâh (none has the right to be worshipped but Allâh), and whoever said La ilâha illallâh will save his property and his life from me, unless (he does something for which he receives legal punishment) justly, and his account will be on Allâh?" Abû Bakr said, "By Allâh! I will fight who ever differentiates between Salât (prayers) and Zakât, as Zakât is the right to be taken from property (according to Allâh’s orders). By Allâh! If they refused to pay me even a kid they used to pay to Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم, I would fight with them for withholding it," ‘Umar said "By Allâh! It was nothing, but I noticed that Allâh opened Abû Bakr’s chest towards the decision to fight, therefore I realized that his decision was right." (Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.9, Hadîth No 59).

மேலும், (நபியே!) இணைவைத்துக் கொண்டிருப்போரில் எவரொருவர் உம்மிடம் அபயம் தேடினால் அல்லாஹ்வுடைய வசனங்களை அவர் செவியேற்கும் வரையில் அவருக்கு அபயமளிப்பீராக! பின்னர், அவருக்கு அபயமளிக்கும் (வேறு) இடத்தில் அவரைச்சேர்த்து வைப்பீராக! அது (ஏனென்றால்) நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் அறியாத சமூகத்தினர் என்ற காரணத்தினாலாகும்.

And if anyone of the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the Word of Allâh (the Qur’ân), and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men who know not.

அல்லாஹ்விடத்திலும், அவனுடைய தூதரிடத்திலும் இணைவைத்துக் கொண்டிருப்போருக்கு எப்படி உடன்படிக்கை இருக்க முடியும்? (ஆயினும், மஸ்ஜிதுல் ஹராமாகிய) சிறப்புற்ற மஸ்ஜிதில் நீங்கள் உடன்படிக்கை செய்துகொண்டீர்களே அவர்களைத் தவிர, ஆகவே, அவர்கள் (தங்களுடைய உடன்படிக்கையின்படி) உங்களுடன் உறுதியாக இருக்கும் வரையில், நீங்களும் அவர்களுடன் உறுதியாகவே இருங்கள், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் பயபக்தியுடையோரை நேசிக்கின்றான்.

How can there be a covenant with Allâh and with His Messenger for the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) except those with whom you made a covenant near Al-Masjid-al-Harâm (at Makkah)? So long as they are true to you, stand you true to them. Verily, Allâh loves Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - See V.2:2).

(எனினும்) எப்படி (உடன்படிக்கை இருக்க முடியும்)? இன்னும் உங்களை அவர்கள் வெற்றி கொண்டால் உங்களிலே (இருந்துவரும்) உறவையும் (செய்துகொண்ட) உடன்படிக்கையையும் பொருட்படுத்த மாட்டார்கள், தங்கள் வாய்களைக் கொண்டு உங்களைத் திருப்திப்படுத்துகின்றனர், அவர்களுடைய இதயங்களோ விலகிக் கொள்கின்றன, இன்னும், அவர்களில் பெரும்பாலோர் பாவிகளாவர்.

How (can there be such a covenant with them) that when you are overpowered by them, they regard not the ties, either of kinship or of covenant with you? With (good words from) their mouths they please you, but their hearts are averse to you, and most of them are Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).

அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வுடைய வசனங்களுக்குப்பகரமாக சொற்பக் கிரயத்தை வாங்கிக் கொண்டனர், பின்னர் (மனிதர்களை) அவனுடைய பாதையை விட்டும் தடுக்கின்றனர், நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் - அவர்கள் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தார்களே அது மிகக் கெட்டது.

They have purchased with the Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allâh a little gain, and they hindered men from His Way; evil indeed is that which they used to do.

அவர்கள், எந்த விசுவாசியின் விஷயத்திலும் உறவையும், உடன்படிக்கையையும் பொருட்படுத்த மாட்டார்கள், மேலும், இத்தகையோர்தாம் வரம்பு மீறியவர்கள்.

With regard to a believer, they respect not the ties, either of kinship or of covenant! It is they who are the transgressors.

ஆகவே, அவர்கள் (தங்கள் பாவங்களிலிருந்து விலகிப்) பச்சாதாபப்பட்டு தொழுகையையும் நிறைவேற்றி, ஜகாத்தையும் கொடுத்து வந்தால் அப்பொழுது (அவர்கள்) உங்களுக்கு மார்க்கத்தில் சகோதரர்களாவர், இன்னும், அறிவுள்ள சமூகத்தார்க்கு நாம் வசனங்களை (இவ்வாறு) விவரிக்கின்றோம்.

But if they repent, perform As-Salât, (Iqâmat-as-Salât) and give Zakât,¹ then they are your brethren in religion. (In this way) We explain the Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail for a people who know.

தங்களுடைய உடன்படிக்கைக்குப் பின்னரும், அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய சத்தியங்களை முறித்து உங்களுடைய மார்க்கத்தைப் பற்றி குறைகள் கூறிக் கொண்டிருப்பார்களானால் (அவர்கள் மேற்கூறிய செயலிலிருந்து) விலகிக்கொள்வதற்காக நிராகரிப்போரின் தலைவர்களுடன் போரிடுங்கள், ஏனெனில், நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள்- அவர்களுக்கு சத்தியங்கள் (அவற்றைப் பேணிக்காத்தல்) எதுவுமில்லை.

But if they violate their oaths after their covenant, and attack your religion with disapproval and criticism, then fight (you) the leaders of disbelief (chiefs of Quraish pagans of Makkah) - for surely their oaths are nothing to them - so that they may stop (evil actions).

தங்களுடைய சத்தியங்களை முறித்து (நம்) தூதரை (ஊரைவிட்டு) வெளியேற்றவும் உறுதிகொண்ட மக்களுடன் நீங்கள் யுத்தம் புரிய வேண்டாமா? அவர்கள்தாம் உங்களிடம் முதன்முறையாக ஆரம்பித்தனர், அவர்களுக்கு நீங்கள் பயப்படுகிறீர்களா? நீங்கள் விசுவாசங்கொண்டவர்களாயின், அல்லாஹ் - அவனே நீங்கள் பயப்படுவதற்கு மிகத் தகுதியானவன்.

Will you not fight a people who have violated their oaths (pagans of Makkah), and intended to expel the Messenger while they did attack you first? Do you fear them? Allâh has more right that you should fear Him if you are believers.

நீங்கள் அவர்களுடன் யுத்தம் செய்யுங்கள், உங்கள் கைகளைக் கொண்டே, அல்லாஹ் அவர்களை வேதனை செய்வான், அவர்களை இழிவும் படுத்துவான், அவர்களுக்கு பாதகமாக உங்களுக்கு உதவியும் செய்வான், மேலும், விசுவாசங் கொண்ட சமூகத்தாரின் நெஞ்சங்களுக்கு ஆறுதலுமளிப்பான்.

Fight against them so that Allâh will punish them by your hands and disgrace them and give you victory over them and heal the breasts of a believing people,

(விசுவாசங்கொண்ட) அவர்களுடைய இதயங்களின் ஆத்திரத்தை அவன் (வெற்றியளிப்பதின் மூலம்) போக்கியும் விடுவான், இன்னும், அல்லாஹ் (அவர்களில்) தான் நாடியவர்களின் தவ்பாவை ஏற்றுக்கொள்வான், இன்னும், அல்லாஹ் நன்கறிகிறவன், தீர்க்கமான அறிவுடையவன்.

And remove the anger of their (believers’) hearts. Allâh accepts the repentance of whom He wills. Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

விசுவாசிகளே! உங்களில் யுத்தம் செய்தோரையும் அல்லாஹ்வையும் அவனுடைய தூதரையும் விசுவாசிகளையும் தவிர (வேறு எவரையும் தங்களுடைய அந்தரங்க நண்பர்களாக (உங்களில்) எவரும் எடுத்துக் கொள்ளவில்லை என்பதையும், அல்லாஹ் (சோதித்து) அறியாத நிலையில் நீங்கள் விட்டுவிடப் படுவீர்களென்று எண்ணிக் கொண்டீர்களா? அல்லாஹ் நீங்கள் செய்பவற்றை நன்குணர்பவன்.

Do you think that you shall be left alone while Allâh has not yet tested those among you who have striven hard and fought and have not taken Walîjah [(Bitânah - helpers, advisors and consultants from disbelievers, pagans.) giving openly to them their secrets] besides Allâh, and His Messenger, and the believers. Allâh is Well-Acquainted with what you do.

இணை வைத்துக்கொண்டிருப்போருக்கு, இவர்கள் தங்களுக்குத் தாங்களே நிராகரிப்பைக் கொண்டு சாட்சி கூறிக்கொள்பவர்களாக இருக்கும் நிலையில் அல்லாஹ்வுடைய பள்ளிகளை இவர்கள் பரிபாலனம் செய்ய எவ்வித உரிமையுமில்லை, அத்தகையோர்- அவர்களுடைய செயல்கள் அழிந்து விட்டன, இன்னும், அவர்கள் நரக நெருப்பில் நிரந்தரமாக தங்கி இருப்பவர்கள்.

It is not for the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh), to maintain the Mosques of Allâh (i.e. to pray and worship Allâh therein, to look after their cleanliness and their building,), while they witness against their ownselves of disbelief. The works of such are in vain and in Fire shall they abide.

அல்லாஹ்வுடைய பள்ளிகளைப் பரிபாலனம் செய்கிறவரெல்லாம் அல்லாஹ்வையும் இறுதி நாளையும் விசுவாசித்து தொழுகையையும் நிறைவேற்றி ஜகாத்தும் கொடுத்து அல்லாஹ்வையன்றி மற்றவெருக்கும் பயப்படாமலும் இருக்கின்றவர்கள்தாம், எனவே அத்தகையோர் நேர்வழி பெற்றவர்களில் அவர்கள் இருக்கப் போதுமானவர்கள்.

The Mosques of Allâh shall be maintained only by those who believe in Allâh and the Last Day, perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and give Zakât and fear none but Allâh. It is they who are on true guidance.

(விசுவாசங் கொள்ளாமல் இருந்து கொண்டு) ஹாஜிகளுக்குத் தண்ணீர் புகட்டுவோரையும், சிறப்புற்ற அப்பள்ளியைப் பரிபாலஞ்செய்வோரையும் அல்லாஹ்வையும், இறுதி நாளையும் விசுவாசங்கொண்டு அல்லாஹ்வுடைய பாதையில் யுத்தம் புரிந்தோரைப் போன்று (சமமானவர்களாக) நீங்கள் ஆக்கி விட்டீர்களா? அல்லாஹ்வின் சமூகத்தில் (இவ்விருசாராரும்) சமமாக மாட்டார்கள், மேலும், அல்லாஹ் அநியாயக்கார சமூகத்தாரை நேர்வழியில் செலுத்த மாட்டான்.

Do you consider the providing of drinking water to the pilgrims and the maintenance of Al-Masjidal-Harâm (at Makkah) as equal to the worth of those who believe in Allâh and the Last Day, and strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allâh? They are not equal before Allâh. And Allâh guides not those people who are the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers).

விசுவாசங் கொண்டு (தங்கள்) ஊர்களிலிருந்தும் (ஹிஜ்ரத்துச் செய்து வெளியேறி அல்லாஹ்வுடைய பாதையில், தங்கள் செல்வங்களாலும், தங்கள் உயிர்களாலும் யுத்தம் புரிகின்றனரே அத்தகையோர் அல்லாஹ்விடம் பதவியால் மிக மகத்தானவர்கள், மேலும், இத்தகையோர்தாம் வெற்றியடைந்தவர்கள்.

Those who believed (in the Oneness of Allâh - Islâmic Monotheism) and emigrated and strove hard and fought in Allâh’s Cause with their wealth and their lives are far higher in degree with Allâh. They are the successful.¹

Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه : The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Whoever believes in Allâh and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم performs Salât (Iqamât-as-Salât) and observes Saum (fasts) during the month of Ramadan, then it will be a promise binding upon Allâh to admit him to Paradise, no matter whether he fights in Allâh’s Cause or remains in the land where he is born." The people said, "O Allâh’s Messenger! Shall we acquaint the people with this good news?" He said, "Paradise has one hundred grades which Allâh has reserved for the Mujahidûn who fight in His Cause, and the distance between each of two grades is like the distance between the heaven and the earth. So, when you ask Allâh (for something), ask for Al-Firdaus which is the middle and highest part of Paradise." [the subnarrator added, "I think the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم also said, ‘Above it (i.e. Al-Firdaus ) is the Throne of the Most Gracious (i.e. Allâh), and from it gushes forth the rivers of Paradise]." (Sahih Al Bukhârî, Vol.4, Hadith No.48).

   b. The wish for martyrdom.

   Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is! Were it not for some men amongst the believers who dislike to be left behind me, and whom I cannot provide with means of conveyance, I would certainly never remain behind any Sariya (army unit) going out for Jihâd in Allâh’s Cause. By Him in Whose Hand my soul is! I would love to be martyred in Allâh’s Cause and then come back to life, and then get martyred and then come back to life again, and then get martyred and then come back to life again, and then get martyred." (Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.4, Hadith No.54).

அவர்களுடைய இரட்சகன் தன்னிடமிருந்து கிருபையையும் பொருத்தத்தையும் (அளித்து) சுவனங்களையும் (தருவதாக) அவர்களுக்கு நன்மாராயங் கூறுகிறான், அவர்களுக்கு அவற்றில் என்றென்றும் நிலையான சுகங்களுண்டு.

Their Lord gives them glad tidings of Mercy from Him, and His being pleased (with them), and of Gardens (Paradise) for them wherein are everlasting delights.

அவற்றில் அவர்கள் என்றென்றும் நிரந்தரமாகத் தங்கி இருப்பவர்கள், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ், அவனிடத்தில் அவர்களுக்கு மகத்தான கூலி உண்டு.

They will dwell therein forever. Verily, with Allâh is a great reward.

விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரே! உங்களுடைய தந்தையர்களையும் உங்களுடைய சகோதரர்களையும் விசுவாசத்தைவிட நிராகரிப்பை அவர்கள் நேசித்தால்- நீங்கள் அவர்களை (உங்கள்) பாதுகாப்பாளர்களாக எடுத்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டாம், உங்களில் எவரேனும் அவர்களை பாதுகாப்பாளர்களாக எடுத்துக் கொண்டால், அவர்கள் தாம் அநியாயக்காரர்கள்.

O you who believe! Take not as Auliyâ’ (supporters and helpers) your fathers and your brothers if they prefer disbelief to Belief. And whoever of you does so, then he is one of the Zâlimûn (wrong-doers).

(நபியே! விசுவாசிகளிடம்) நீர் கூறுவீராக! உங்களுடைய தந்தைகளும், உங்களுடைய சகோதரர்களும், உங்களுடைய மனைவியரும், உங்களுடைய குடும்பத்தினரும், நீங்கள் எதனை சம்பாதித்து வைத்திருக்கிறீர்களோ அந்தச் செல்வங்களும், நீங்கள் எதனுடைய நஷ்டத்தைப் பயப்படுகிறீர்களோ அத்தகைய வியாபாரமும் நீங்கள் எதனை திருப்திப் படுகிறீர்களோ, அத்தகைய (உங்கள்) குடியிருப்பிடங்களும் அல்லாஹ்வையும் அவனுடைய தூதரையும் அவனுடைய பாதையில் போர் செய்வதையும் விட உங்களுக்கு மிக்க விருப்பமானவைகளாக இருந்தால், அப்போது நீங்கள் (தண்டனையைப் பற்றிய) அல்லாஹ்வுடைய கட்டளை வரும் வரையில் எதிர்பார்த்திருங்கள், மேலும், பாவிகளான கூட்டத்தினரை அல்லாஹ் நேர் வழியில் செலுத்தவுமாட்டான்.

Say: If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your kindred, the wealth that you have gained, the commerce in which you fear a decline, and the dwellings in which you delight are dearer to you than Allâh and His Messenger, and striving hard and fighting in His Cause,¹ then wait until Allâh brings about His Decision (torment). And Allâh guides not the people who are Al-Fâsiqûn (the rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).

அநேக யுத்த களங்களில் திட்டமாக அல்லாஹ் உங்களுக்கு உதவி செய்திருக்கின்றான், இன்னும், ‘ஹுனைன்’ யுத்தத்தன்று உங்களை அகமகிழச்செய்து கொண்டிருந்த உங்களுடைய (ஜனத்தொகையின்) அதிகம் உங்களுக்கு யாதொரு பயனுமளிக்கவில்லை-பூமியானது அது விசாலமாகயிருந்தும் உங்களுக்கு நெருக்கடியாகிவிட்டது, பின்னர் நீங்கள் புறமுதுகிட்டவர்களாகத் திரும்பிவிட்டீர்கள்.

Truly Allâh has given you victory on many battle fields, and on the Day of Hunain (battle) when you rejoiced at your great number, but it availed you naught and the earth, vast as it is, was straitened for you, then you turned back in flight.

பின்னர், அல்லாஹ் தன்னுடைய தூதரின்மீதும் விசுவாசிகளின்மீதும் தன்னுடைய அமைதியை இறக்கியருளினான், இன்னும், படைகளை (உங்களுக்கு உதவியாக) இறக்கிவைத்தான், அவற்றை நீங்கள் பார்க்கவில்லை, இன்னும் நிராகரித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தோரை வேதனை செய்தான், இதுவே நிராகரிப்போருக்குரிய கூலியாகும்.

Then Allâh did send down His Sakînah (calmness, tranquillity and reassurance) on the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), and on the believers, and sent down forces (angels) which you saw not, and punished the disbelievers. Such is the recompense of disbelievers.

அப்பால்-(அவர்கள் மனம்திருந்தி மன்னிப்புக் கோரினால்) அல்லாஹ் தான் நாடியவர்களுக்கு அதன் பின்னரும், தவ்பாவை (-பாவமன்னிப்பை) அங்கீகரித்துக் கொள்கிறான், மேலும், அல்லாஹ் மிக்க மன்னிப்பவன், மிகக் கிருபையுடையவன்.

Then after that Allâh will accept the repentance of whom He wills. And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரே! நிச்சயமாக இணை வைத்துக்கொண்டிருப்போரெல்லாம் அசுத்தமானவர்களே, ஆகவே, அவர்கள் இவ்வருடத்திற்குப் பின்னர் சிறப்புற்ற இப்பள்ளியை (மஸ்ஜிதுல் ஹராமை) நெருங்க வேண்டாம், வறுமையை நீங்கள் பயந்தால் அல்லாஹ் விரைவில் தன் பேரருளைக் கொண்டு அவன் நாடினால், உங்களைச் செல்வந்தர்களாக்கி விடுவான் என்பதை அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ், யாவரையும் நன்கறிகிறவன், தீர்க்கமான அறிவுடையவன்.

O you who believe (in Allâh’s Oneness and in His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم)! Verily, the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh, and in the Message of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) are Najasun (impure).¹ So let them not come near Al-Masjidal-Harâm (at Makkah) after this year; and if you fear poverty, Allâh will enrich you if He wills, out of His Bounty. Surely, Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

Their impurity is spiritual and physical: spiritual, because they don’t believe in Allâh’s Oneness and in His Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم ; and physical, because they lack personal hygiene (filthy as regards urine, stools and blood). And the word Najas is used only for those persons who have spiritual impurity e.g. Al-Mushrikûn

விசுவாசிகளே! வேதம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டவர்களில் அல்லாஹ்வையும் இறுதி நாளையும் விசுவாசங்கொள்ளாமலும் அல்லாஹ்வும் அவனுடைய தூதரும் விலக்கியவைகளை விலக்கிக் கொள்ளாமலும், இந்த உண்மை மார்க்கத்தை மார்க்கமாக ஏற்காமலும் இருக்கின்றனரே, அத்தகையோரை-இழிவடைந்தவர்களாக அவர்கள் தங்கள் (கையால் ஜிஸ்வா) வரியை கொடுக்கும்வரை நீங்கள் (அவர்களுடன்) யுத்தம் புரியுங்கள்.

Fight against those who (1) believe not in Allâh, (2) nor in the Last Day, (3) nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allâh and His Messenger Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) (4) and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islâm) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah ¹ with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

மேலும், யூதர்கள் ‘உஜைர்’ அல்லாஹ்வுடைய மகன் என்று கூறுகின்றனர், கிறிஸ்தவர்கள் “மஸீஹ்” அல்லாஹ்வுடைய மகன் என்றும் கூறுகின்றனர், அது இவர்கள் தங்கள் வாய்களால் கூறும் கூற்றே ஆகும், இவர்களுக்கு முன்னிருந்த நிராகரிப்போரின் கூற்றுக்கு (கூற்றால் அவர்களைப் போன்று) ஒத்திருக்கிறார்கள், அல்லாஹ் இவர்களை அழித்து விடுவானாக! And the Jews say: ‘Uzair (Ezra) is the son of Allâh, and the Christians say: Messiah is the son of Allâh. That is their saying with their mouths, resembling the saying of those who disbelieved aforetime. Allâh’s Curse be on them, how they are deluded away from the truth!¹

(இவ்வாறே) அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வையன்றித் தங்கள் பாதிரிகளையும், தங்கள் சந்நியாசிகளையும் மர்யமுடைய குமாரர் மஸீஹையும் தங்கள் தெய்வங்களாக எடுத்துக் கொண்டனர். இன்னும், ஒரே ஒரு இரட்சகனையே வணங்க வேணடுமென்றல்லாது (வேறு எதனையும்) அவர்கள் கட்டளையிடப்படவில்லை, அவனையன்றி வணக்கத்திற்குரியவன் (வேறெவரும்) இல்லை, அவர்கள் இணைவைப்பவற்றைவிட்டும் அவன் மிகவும் பரிசுத்தமானவன்.

They (Jews and Christians) took their rabbis and their monks to be their lords besides Allâh (by obeying them in things which they made lawful or unlawful according to their own desires without being ordered by Allâh), and (they also took as their Lord) Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), while they (Jews and Christians) were commanded [in the Taurât (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] to worship none but One Ilâh (God - Allâh) Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He)[4]. Praise and glory be to Him (far above is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him)."

அவர்கள் தங்கள் வாய்களினால் (ஊதி) அல்லாஹ்வின் பிரகாசத்தை அணைத்துவிட நாடுகின்றனர்; இந்நிராகரிப்போர் வெறுத்தபோதிலும், அல்லாஹ் தன்னுடைய பிரகாசத்தை பூர்த்தியாக்கி வைப்பதைத் தவிர (வேறெதையும்) நாடவில்லை.

They (the disbelievers, the Jews and the Christians) want to extinguish Allâh’s Light (with which Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم has been sent - Islâmic Monotheism) with their mouths, but Allâh will not allow except that His Light should be perfected even though the Kâfirûn (disbelievers) hate (it).

அவன் எத்தகையவனென்றால், தன்னுடைய தூதரை நேர்வழியைக் கொண்டும், சத்திய மார்க்கத்தைக்கொண்டும் அனுப்பி வைத்தான், இணை வைத்துக்கொண்டிருப்போர் (அதனை) வெறுத்தபோதிலும், (உலகிலுள்ள) எல்லா மார்க்கங்களையும் விட அதை மேலோங்கச் செய்யவே (அவ்வாறு செய்தான்.)

It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islâm), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) hate (it).

விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரே! நிச்சயமாக (அவர்களுடைய) பாதிரிகளிலும், சந்நியாசிகளிலும் அநேகர், மனிதர்களின் பொருட்களைத் தவறான முறையில் உண்ணுகிறார்கள், இன்னும், (மக்கள்) அல்லாஹ்வுடைய வழியில் செல்வதற்கும் தடை விதிக்கின்றனர், (ஆகவே, இவர்களுக்கும்) இன்னும், பொன்னையும், வெள்ளியையும் சேகரித்து வைத்துக்கொண்டு அதனை அல்லாஹ்வுடைய பாதையில் செலவு செய்யாதிருக்கின்றனரே அத்தகையவர்களுக்கும், (நபியே!) நீர் துன்புறுத்தும் வேதனை உண்டு என்று நன்மாராயம் கூறுவீராக.

O you who believe! Verily, there are many of the (Jewish) rabbis and the (Christian) monks who devour the wealth of mankind in falsehood, and hinder (them) from the Way of Allâh (i.e. Allâh’s religion of Islâmic Monotheism). And those who hoard up gold and silver [Al-Kanz: the money, the Zakât of which has not been paid] and spend them not in the Way of Allâh, announce unto them a painful torment.

(பொன், வெள்ளியாகிய) அவற்றை நரக நெருப்பில் பழுக்கக் காய்ச்சப்பட்டு பின்னர் அவற்றைக்கொண்டு அவர்களுடைய நெற்றிகளிலும், விலாப்புறங்களிலும், அவர்களுடைய முதுகுகளிலும் சூடுபோடப்படும் நாளில்-“உங்களுக்காக நீங்கள் சேகரித்து வைத்திருந்தது இதுதாம், ஆகவே, நீங்கள் சேகரித்து வைத்திருந்ததை சுவைத்துப் பாருங்கள்” (என்று அப்போது அவர்களுக்குக் கூறப்படும்).

On the Day when that (Al-Kanz: money, gold and silver the Zakât of which has not been paid) will be heated in the Fire of Hell and with it will be branded their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, (and it will be said unto them): "This is the treasure which you hoarded for yourselves. Now taste of what you used to hoard."¹

வானங்களையும், பூமியையும் படைத்த நாளில் (இருந்து மறுமை நாள் வரை நடந்தேறும் அனைத்து விஷயங்களும் எழுதப்பட்ட) அல்லாஹ்வின் பதிவேட்டில் உள்ளவாறு நிச்சயமாக மாதங்களின் எண்ணிக்கை அல்லாஹ்விடத்தில் (ஒரு வருடத்திற்குப்) பன்னிரண்டு மாதங்களாகும், அவற்றில் நான்கு (மாதங்கள்) புனிதமானவையாகும், (இவ்வாறு அல்லாஹ்வின் கட்டளையை ஏற்று செயல்படுவதற்குரிய) அதுதான் நேரான மார்க்கமாகும், ஆகவே, அவற்றில் (நீங்கள் வரம்புமீறி) உங்களுக்கு நீங்களே அநீதமிழைத்துக் கொள்ளாதீர்கள், இன்னும், இணைவைப்பவர்களுடன் அவர்கள் ஒருங்கிணைந்து உங்களுடன் போர் செய்வதைப்போன்று நீங்களும் ஒருங்கிணைந்து போர் செய்யுங்கள், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ், பயபக்தியுடையோருடன் இருக்கின்றான் என்பதையும் உறுதியாக அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள்.

Verily, the number of months with Allâh is twelve months (in a year), so was it ordained by Allâh on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred (i.e. the 1st, the 7th, the 11th and the 12th months of the Islâmic calendar). That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein, and fight against the Mushrikûn (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) collectively¹ as they fight against you collectively. But know that Allâh is with those who are Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - See V.2:2).

(சிறப்புற்ற மாதங்களை அவர்கள் விருப்படி) முன்பின் ஆக்குவதெல்லாம் நிச்சயமாக நிராகரிப்பில் அதிகப்படுத்துவதாகும், அதனால் நிராகரித்துக் கொண்டிருப்போர் வழி கெடுக்கப்படுகின்றனர், ஒரு வருடத்தில் அ(வ்வாறு முன்பின் ஆக்குவ)தை ஆகுமாக்கிக் கொள்கின்றனர், மற்றொரு வருடத்தில் அதை ஆகாதாக்கி விடுகின்றனர், (இவ்வாறு செய்வதெல்லாம்,) அல்லாஹ் தடுத்திருக்கும் மாதங்களின் எண்ணிக்கைக்கு (அவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கையை) சரியாக்குவதற்காகத்தான், (பின்னர்) அல்லாஹ் தடுத்தவற்றை அவர்கள் ஆகுமாக்கிக் கொள்கின்றனர், அவர்களுடைய செயல்களின் தீமை (ஷைத்தானால்) அவர்களுக்கு அலங்காரமாக ஆக்கப்பட்டு விட்டது, மேலும், அல்லாஹ் நிராகரிக்கும் (இக்) கூட்டத்தாரை நேர் வழியில் செலுத்த மாட்டான்.

The postponing (of a Sacred Month) is indeed an addition to disbelief: thereby the disbelievers are led astray, for they make it lawful one year and forbid it another year in order to adjust the number of months forbidden by Allâh, and make such forbidden ones lawful. The evil of their deeds is made fair-seeming to them. And Allâh guides not the people who disbelieve.

விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரே! “அல்லாஹ்வுடைய பாதையில் (போர் செய்ய) நீங்கள் புறப்படுங்கள்” என்று உங்களுக்குக் கூறப்பட்டால், (அவ்வாறு புறப்படாமல்) நீங்கள் பூமியின்பால் சாய்ந்துவிடுகிறீர்களே, உங்களுக்கு என்ன (நேர்ந்து விட்டது)? மறுமையைவிட இவ்வுலக வாழ்கையைக் கொண்டு நீங்கள் திருப்தியடைந்து விட்டீர்களா? மறுமை(யின் வாழ்க்கை)க்கு முன்பாக இவ்வுலக வாழ்வின் இன்பம் வெகு சொற்பமே தவிர (வேறு) இல்லை.

O you who believe! What is the matter with you, that when you are asked to march forth in the Cause of Allâh (i.e. Jihâd) you cling heavily to the earth? Are you pleased with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But little is the enjoyment of the life of this world as compared to the Hereafter.¹

   Narrated Anas bin Mâlik رضي الله عنه: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Nobody who dies and finds good from Allâh (in the Hereafter) would wish to come back to this world, even if he were given the whole world and whatever is in it except the martyr who, on seeing the superiority of martyrdom would like to come back to the world and get killed again (in Allâh’s Cause)." (Sahih Al Bukhâri, Vol.4, Hadîth No.53-A).

(அல்லாஹ்வுடைய பாதையில் போர் செய்ய அழைக்கப்பட்டு) நீங்கள் புறப்படாவிடில் மிகத் துன்புறுத்தும் வேதனையால் (அல்லாஹ்வாகிய) அவன் உங்களை வேதனை செய்வான், அன்றியும் (உங்களைப் போக்கி உங்களிடத்தில்) உங்களல்லாத (வேறு) சமூகத்தாரை பகரமாக்கி விடுவான், நீங்கள் எந்த ஒன்றாலும் அவனுக்குத் தீங்கிழைக்கவுமுடியாது, (ஏனென்றால்) அல்லாஹ் ஒவ்வொரு பொருளின்மீதும் மிக்க ஆற்றலுடையவன்.

If you march not forth, He will punish you with a painful torment and will replace you by another people; and you cannot harm Him at all, and Allâh is Able to do all things.

(நம்முடைய தூதராகிய அவருக்கு நீங்கள் உதவி செய்யாவிட்டால் (அதனால் அவருக்கு எந்த நஷ்டமும் ஏற்பட்டு விடாது, ஏனென்றால்,) நிராகரிப்போர் அவரை (ஊரைவிட்டு) வெளியேற்றிய சமயத்தில் திட்டமாக அல்லாஹ் (அவருக்கு உதவி செய்து இருக்கின்றான், இருவரில் ஒருவராக அவர் இருக்க-(எதிரிகள் சூழ்ந்து கொண்ட சமயத்தில் அந்த) இருவரும் (“தவ்ர்”) மலைக்குகையில் இருந்தபோது (நம் தூதர்) தன்னுடன் (குகையில்) இருந்த தோழ(ராகிய அபூபக்)ரை நோக்கி நீர் கவலைப்படாதீர், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் நம்முடன் இருக்கின்றான்” என்று அவர் கூறிய நேரத்தில்- (அல்லாஹ் அவருக்கு உதவி செய்துள்ளான்.) அப்போது அல்லாஹ் அவர் மீது தன்னுடைய அமைதியை இறக்கி வைத்தான், மேலும், அவரைப் படைகளைக் கொண்டு பலப்படுத்தினான், அவற்றை நீங்கள் பார்க்கவில்லை, இன்னும், நிராகரிப்போரின் வாக்கை (நிறைவேறாது) கீழாக்கினான், (ஏனென்றால்) மேலும், அல்லாஹ்வின் வாக்கு-அதுதான் (எப்போதும்) உயர்வுடையது, அன்றியும் அல்லாஹ் (யாவரையும்) மிகைத்தவன், தீர்க்கமான அறிவுடையவன்.

If you help him (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) not (it does not matter), for Allâh did indeed help him when the disbelievers drove him out, the second of the two; when they (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه) were in the cave, he (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said to his companion (Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه): "Be not sad (or afraid), surely Allâh is with us." Then Allâh sent down His Sakînah (calmness, tranquillity, peace) upon him, and strengthened him with forces (angels) which you saw not, and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowermost, while the Word of Allâh that became the uppermost; and Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Wise.
