9. At-Tawbah

இலேசாகவும், கனமாகவும் (-இளைஞர்கள், முதியவர்கள், செல்வந்தர்கள், செல்வமில்லாதவர்கள், வாகனத்தில் ஏறியவர்கள், நடப்பவர்கள் ஆகியோர்) புறப்பட்டு, உங்களின் செல்வங்களாலும், உங்களின் உயிர்களாலும் அல்லாஹ்வின் பாதையில் நீங்கள் போர் செய்யுங்கள், நீங்கள் அறிந்தவர்களாக இருந்தால் இதுவே உங்களுக்கு மிகச் சிறந்ததாகும்.

March forth, whether you are light (being healthy, young and wealthy) or heavy (being ill, old and poor), and strive hard with your wealth and your lives in the Cause of Allâh. This is better for you, if you but knew.

(நபியே! நீர் எதன்பால் அவர்களை அழைத்தீரோ) அது சமீபமான (உடனே கிடைக்கக்கூடியதான) பொருளாகவும், (வெகு தூரமில்லாத) நடு நிலையான பயணமாகவுமிருந்தால், நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் உம்மைப் பின்பற்றி வந்தேயிருப்பார்கள், எனினும், மிக தூரமான பயணம் அவர்கள் மீது பெரும் சிரமத்தை தந்தது, (ஆதலால், அவர்கள்) “நாங்கள் சக்தி பெற்றிருந்தால், நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் உங்களுடன் வந்திருப்போம்” என்று அல்லாஹ்வின் மீது சத்தியம் செய்து கூறுவார்கள், (இதனால்) அவர்கள் தங்களையே அழித்துக் கொள்கின்றனர், மேலும், நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் பொய்யர்கள்தான் என்பதை அல்லாஹ் நன்கறிகிறவன்.

Had it been a near gain (booty in front of them) and an easy journey, they would have followed you, but the distance (Tabuk expedition) was long for them; and they would swear by Allâh, "If we only could, we would certainly have come forth with you." They destroy their ownselves, and Allâh knows that they are liars.

(நபியே!) அல்லாஹ் உம்மை மன்னித்தருள்வானாக! (போருக்கு வராது தங்கிவிட்ட) அவர்களில் உண்மை சொல்பவர்கள் (யார் என்பது) உமக்குத் தெளிவாகி, பொய்யர்களை நீர் அறியும் வரை ஏன் அவர்களுக்கு நீர் அனுமதியளித்தீர்.

May Allâh forgive you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). Why did you grant them leave (for remaining behind; you should have persisted as regards your order to them to proceed on Jihâd ), until those who told the truth were seen by you in a clear light, and you had known the liars?

அல்லாஹ்வையும், இறுதிநாளையும் விசுவாசங்கொள்கிறார்களே, அத்தகையோர்-தங்கள் செல்வங்களைக் கொண்டும், தம் உயிர்களைக் கொண்டும் யுத்தம் புரிவதற்கு உம்மிடம் அனுமதி கோரமாட்டார்கள், மேலும், பயபக்தியுடையவர்களை அல்லாஹ் நன்கறிகிறவன்.

Those who believe in Allâh and the Last Day would not ask your leave to be exempted from fighting with their properties and their lives; and Allâh is the All-Knower of Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - See V.2:2).

(போருக்குச் செல்லாமலிருக்க) உம்மிடம் அனுமதி கேட்பதெல்லாம் அல்லாஹ்வையும், இறுதிநாளையும் விசுவாசங்கொள்ளாதவர்கள்தாம், இன்னும், அவர்களுடைய இதயங்கள் சந்தேகத்தில் ஆழ்ந்து விட்டன, ஆகவே, அவர்கள் தங்கள் சந்தேகத்திலேயே தடுமாறிக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றனர்

It is only those who believe not in Allâh and the Last Day and whose hearts are in doubt that ask your leave (to be exempted from Jihâd). So in their doubts they waver.

மேலும், அவர்கள் (போர் செய்யப்) புறப்படுவதை நாடியிருந்தார்களானால், அதற்கு வேண்டிய தயாரிப்புகளை அவர்கள் செய்திருப்பார்கள், எனினும் (உம்முடன்) அவர்கள் புறப்படுவதை அல்லாஹ் வெறுத்து, அவர்களை (ப் புறப்படாது) தடுத்தும் விட்டான், “(யுத்தத்திற்கு வர முடியாது வீட்டில்) உட்கார்ந்திருப்போருடன் நீங்களும் உட்கார்ந்து விடுங்கள்” என்று (அவர்களுக்குக்), கூறப்பட்டுவிட்டது.

And if they had intended to march out, certainly, they would have made some preparation for it; but Allâh was averse to their being sent forth, so He made them lag behind, and it was said (to them), "Sit you among those who sit (at home)."

அவர்கள் உங்களுடன் புறப்பட்டிருந்தாலும் குழப்பத்தைத் தவிர (வேறெதையும்) உங்களுக்கு அவர்கள் அதிகப்படுத்தியிருக்க மாட்டார்கள், மேலும், உங்களுக்கு குழப்பத்தைத் தேடியவர்களாக இருக்கும் நிலையில் உங்களுக்கிடையே கோள்மூட்டியும் இருப்பார்கள், அவர்களுக்காக (உங்களின் விஷயங்களை) செவியேற்போரும் உங்களில் இருக்கிறார்கள், இன்னும், அல்லாஹ் அநியாயக்காரர்களை நன்கறிகிறவன்.

Had they marched out with you, they would have added to you nothing except disorder, and they would have hurried about in your midst (spreading corruption) and sowing sedition among you - and there are some among you who would have listened to them. And Allâh is the All-Knower of the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers).

இதற்கு முன்னரும், திட்டமாக அவர்கள் குழப்பத்தையே தேடிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள், உம்முடைய காரியங்களையும் (தலைகீழாய்ப்) புரட்டிக் கொண்டே இருந்தனர், முடிவாக உண்மை வந்து விட்டது- மேலும், அவர்கள் வெறுக்கக்கூடியவர்களாக இருக்க அல்லாஹ்வின் காரியம் (மார்க்கம்) வெளிப்பட்டு (மேலோங்கி)விட்டது.

Verily, they had plotted sedition before, and had upset matters for you, until the truth (victory) came and the Decree of Allâh (His religion, Islâm) became manifest though they hated it.

(நபியே! நான் வீட்டில் தங்கியிருக்க) “எனக்கு அனுமதி தாரும், நீர் என்னைச் சோதனைக்குள்ளாக்கியும் விடாதீர்” என்று கூறுவோரும் அவர்களில் (சிலர்) இருக்கின்றனர், (இவ்வாறு கூறும்) அவர்கள் சோதனையில் விழுந்து விட்டனர் என்பதை அறிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள், மேலும், நிச்சயமாக நரகம் நிராகரித்துக் கொண்டிருப்போரை சூழ்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறது.

And among them is he who says: "Grant me leave (to be exempted from Jihâd) and put me not into trial." Surely, they have fallen into trial. And verily, Hell is surrounding the disbelievers.

(நபியே!) உமக்கு யாதொரு நன்மை ஏற்படின் (அது) அவர்களுக்குத் துன்பத்தைத் தருகின்றது; உமக்கு யாதொரு துன்பம் ஏற்படின் “திட்டமாக (இதற்கு) முன்னரே எங்களுடைய காரியத்தை (உங்களை சம்பந்தப்படுத்தாது எச்சரிக்கையாக) நாங்கள் எடுத்துக் கொண்டோம்” என்று கூறி மிக்க மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தவர்களாக (உம்மை விட்டுத்) திரும்பிச் சென்றும் விடுகின்றனர்.

If good befalls you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), it grieves them, but if a calamity overtakes you, they say: "We took our precaution beforehand" and they turn away rejoicing.

(ஆகவே நபியே! அவர்களிடம்) “அல்லாஹ் எங்களுக்கு விதித்துள்ளதைத் தவிர (வேறொன்றும்) நிச்சயமாக எங்களை அணுகவே செய்யாது, அவன் (தான்) எங்களுடைய பாதுகாவலன்” என்று நீர் கூறுவீராக! அல்லாஹ்வின் மீதே விசுவாசிகள் (தங்களுடைய காரியங்களை ஒப்படைத்து முழுமையாக) நம்பிக்கை வைக்கவும்.

Say: "Nothing shall ever happen to us except what Allâh has ordained for us.¹ He is our Maulâ (Lord, Helper and Protector)." And in Allâh let the believers put their trust.

(நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக! (வெற்றி அல்லது வீர மரணம் ஆகிய) இரு அழகிய நன்மைகளில் ஒன்றைத் தவிர வேறு எதையும் நீங்கள் எங்களுக்காக எதிர்பார்க்கின்றீர்களா? ஆனால் அல்லாஹ் தன்னிடத்திலிருந்தோ, அல்லது எங்கள் கைகளைக் கொண்டோ உங்களுக்கு வேதனையை ஏற்படுத்துவதை உங்களுக்காக நாங்கள் எதிர்பார்க்கின்றோம், (ஆகவே) நீங்கள் (எங்களுக்கு வரவேண்டியதை) எதிர்பாருங்கள், நிச்சயமாக நாங்கள் (உங்களுக்கு வர வேண்டியதை) உங்களுடன் எதிர்பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறோம்.

Say: "Do you wait for us (anything) except one of the two best things (martyrdom or victory); while we await for you either that Allâh will afflict you with a punishment from Himself or at our hands. So wait, we too are waiting with you."

“நீங்கள் விருப்பத்துடனோ அல்லது வெறுப்புடனோ (தர்மமாகச்) செலவு செய்யுங்கள், (அது) உங்களிடமிருந்து ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்படவே மாட்டாது, (ஏனென்றால்,) நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் பாவம் செய்யும் கூட்டத்தினர்களாகவே இருக்கின்றீர்கள்” என்றும் (நபியே!) நீர் கூறிவிடும்.

Say: "Spend (in Allâh’s Cause) willingly or unwillingly, it will not be accepted from you. Verily, you are ever a people who are Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh)."

அவர்களுடைய (தர்மச்)செலவுகள் (அல்லாஹ்வினால்) அங்கீகரிக்கப்படுவதை அவர்களுக்குத் தடுத்தது, நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வையும், அவனுடைய தூதரையும் நிராகரித்து விட்டார்கள் என்பதற்காக அல்லாமல் (வேறு) இல்லை, மேலும், அவர்கள் சோம்பேறிகளாகவேயன்றி தொழுகைக்கு வருவதில்லை, வெறுப்படைந்தவர்களாகவே தவிர அவர்கள் (தர்மச்) செலவுகள் செய்வதுமில்லை.

And nothing prevents their contributions from being accepted from them except that they disbelieved in Allâh and in His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), and that they came not to As-Salât (the prayer) except in a lazy state,¹ and that they offer not contributions but unwillingly.

   Narrated Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه : The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "No Salât (prayer) is more heavy (harder) for the hypocrites than the Fajr and the ‘Ishâ prayer; but if they knew the reward for these Salât (prayers) at their respective times, they would certainly, present themselves (in the mosques) even if they had to crawl." The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم added, "Certainly, I intended (or was about) to order the Mu‘adhdhin (call-maker) to pronounce Iqâmah and order a man to lead the Salât (prayer), and then take a fire flame to burn all those (men along with their houses) who had not yet left their houses for the Salât (prayer) (in the mosques)." (Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.1, Hadîth No. 626).

ஆகவே, (நபியே!) அவர்களுடைய செல்வங்களும், அவர்களுடைய மக்களும் (பெருகியிருப்பது) உம்மை வியப்படையச் செய்ய வேண்டாம், அல்லாஹ் நாடுவதெல்லாம் அவைகளைக் கொண்டு அவர்களை இவ்வுலக வாழ்விலேயே வேதனை செய்யவும், அவர்கள் நிராகரிப்பவர்களாக இருக்கும் நிலைமையில் அவர்களுடைய உயிர்கள் பிரிவதையும்தான்.

So let not their wealth nor their children amaze you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم); in reality Allâh’s Plan is to punish them with these things in the life of this world, and that their souls shall depart (die) while they are disbelievers.

“நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் உங்களைச் சார்ந்தவர்கள்தாம்” என்று அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வைக் கொண்டு சத்தியமும் செய்கின்றனர்; அவர்களோ உங்களைச் சார்ந்தவர்களன்று, எனினும் அவர்கள் பயந்த கூட்டத்தவராவர்.

They swear by Allâh that they are truly of you while they are not of you, but they are a people (hypocrites) who are afraid (that you may kill them).

(தப்பித்துக்கொள்ள) ஓர் ஒதுங்குமிடத்தையோ அல்லது, (மலைக்)குகைகளையோ அல்லது ஒரு சுரங்கத்தையோ அவர்கள் காண்பார்களேயானால், (உம்மிடமிருந்து விலகி) விரைந்தோடிய நிலையில் அவற்றின் பக்கம் அவர்கள் ஒதுங்கிவிடுவார்கள்.

Should they find a refuge, or caves, or a place of concealment, they would turn straightway thereto with a swift rush.

(நபியே! நீர்) தர்ம(ங்களை பங்கீடு செய்யும் விஷயங்)களில் உம்மைக் குறை கூறுவோரும் அவர்களில் (சிலர்) இருக்கின்றனர், ஆகவே, அதிலிருந்து அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டால் அவர்கள் திருப்தியடைகின்றனர், அதிலிருந்து அவர்களுக்கு கொடுக்கப்படாவிட்டாலோ அப்பொழுது ஆத்திரமடைகின்றனர்.

And of them are some who accuse you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) in the matter of (the distribution of) the alms. If they are given part thereof, they are pleased, but if they are not given thereof, behold! They are enraged!¹

அல்லாஹ்வும், அவனுடைய தூதரும் அவர்களுக்கு கொடுத்ததைக் கொண்டு திருப்தியடைந்து, அல்லாஹ் நமக்குப் போதுமானவன், அல்லாஹ் தன் பேரருளிலிருந்தும், அவனுடைய தூதரும் (போர்க்களத்தில் கிடைத்த, வெற்றிப் பொருட்களிலிருந்து) கொடுப்பார்கள், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்வின்பாலே (அவனிடமிருப்பதையே) நாங்கள் ஆசை கொண்டவர்கள்” என்றும் நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் கூறியிருப்பார்களேயானால் (அது அவர்களுக்கு நலமாக இருந்திருக்கும்.)

Would that they were contented with what Allâh and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) gave them and had said: "Allâh is Sufficient for us. Allâh will give us of His Bounty, and so will His Messenger (from alms). We implore Allâh (to enrich us)."

தர்மங்களெல்லாம் வறியவர்களுக்கும், ஏழைகளுக்கும், அதற்காக (வசூல் செய்வது, கணக்கிடுவது போன்ற வேலைகளில்) உழைப்பவர்களுக்கும், (புதிதாக இஸ்லாத்தை தழுவியோரில்) எவர்களின் இதயங்கள் அன்பு செலுத்தப்பட வேண்டுமோ அத்தகையோருக்கும், இன்னும் (அடிமைகளின்) பிடரிகளை விடுதலை செய்வதற்கும், கடனில் மூழ்கியவர்களுக்கும், அல்லாஹ்வுடைய பாதையில் செலவழிப்பதிலும், வழிப்போக்கருக்கும் உரித்தானதாகும், (இது) அல்லாஹ் ஏற்படுத்திய கடமையாகும், மேலும், அல்லாஹ் நன்கறிகிறவன். தீர்க்கமான அறிவுடையவன்.

As-Sadaqât (here it means Zakât ) are only for the Fuqarâ’ (poor), and Al-Masâkin ¹ (the poor) and those employed to collect (the funds), and to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islâm), and to free the captives, and for those in debt, and for Allâh’s Cause (i.e. for Mujahidûn - those fighting in a holy battle), and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allâh. And Allâh is All-Knower, All-Wise.

(வேஷதாரிகளான) அவர்களில் நபியைத் துன்புறுத்துவோரும் இருக்கின்றனர், “அவர் (எதைக் கூறியபோதிலும் அதைக்கேட்டு உண்மைப்படுத்தும்) செவி” என்றும் அவர்கள் கூறுகின்றனர், (அதற்கு நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக! (அவர்) “உங்களுக்கு நன்மையின் செவியாக இருக்கிறார்; அவர் அல்லாஹ்வை ஈமான் கொள்கிறார், விசுவாசிகளையும் உண்மைப்படுத்துகிறார்; அன்றியும் உங்களில் விசுவாசங்கொண்டோருக்கு அருளாகவும் ஆவார், (ஆகவே) அல்லாஹ்வுடைய (அந்தத்) தூதரைத் துன்புறுத்துகிறார்களே அத்தகையோர் அவர்களுக்கு, துன்புறுத்தும் வேதனையுண்டு.

And among them are men who annoy the Prophet (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) and say: "He is (lending his) ear (to every news)." Say: "He listens to what is best for you; he believes in Allâh, has faith in the believers, and is a mercy to those of you who believe." But those who annoy Allâh’s Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) will have a painful torment. [See V.33:57]

(விசுவாசிகளே!) உங்களைத் திருப்திப்படுத்துவதற்காக உங்களுக்காக அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வைக் கொண்டு சத்தியம் செய்கின்றனர், அவர்கள் விசுவாசிகளாயிருந்தால் அல்லாஹ்வும், அவனுடைய தூதருமே-அவர்களை அவர்கள் திருப்திப்படுத்துவதற்கு – மிகத் தகுதியுடையோர் என்பதை அறிந்திருப்பார்கள்.

They swear by Allâh to you (Muslims) in order to please you, but it is more fitting that they should please Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), if they are believers.

“நிச்சயமாக எவர் அல்லாஹ்வுக்கும், அவனுடைய தூதருக்கும் மாறு செய்கின்றாரோ அப்பொழுது, நிச்சயமாக அவருக்குத்தான் நரக நெருப்பு இருக்கிறது, அதில் அவர் நிரந்தரமாக(த் தங்கி இருப்பவர் என்பதையும் அவர்கள் அறிந்து கொள்ளவில்லையா? அது மாபெரிய இழிவாகும்.

Know they not that whoever opposes and shows hostility to Allâh (عز وجل) and His Messenger(صلى الله عليه وسلم), certainly for him will be the Fire of Hell to abide therein. That is the extreme disgrace.

(விசுவாசிகளாகிய) அவர்கள் மீது தங்கள் இதயங்களிலுள்ளவற்றை வெளிப்படுத்தி விடும் ஓர் அத்தியாயம் இறக்கிவைக்கப்படுவதை முனாஃபிக்குகள் (வேஷதாரிகள்) பயப்படுகின்றனர், (நபியே! அவர்களிடம்) நீர் கூறுவீராக! நீங்கள் பரிகாசம் செய்து கொண்டிருங்கள், நீங்கள் பயப்படுவதை(யே) நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் வெளிப்படுத்தக் கூடியவன்.

The hypocrites fear lest a Sûrah (chapter of the Qur’ân) should be revealed about them, showing them what is in their hearts. Say: "(Go ahead and) mock! But certainly Allâh will bring to light all that you fear."

(இதனைப் பற்றி) நீர் அவர்களைக் கேட்பீராயின், “நாங்கள் (வீண்) பேச்சில் மூழ்கியும், விளையாடிக் கொண்டுமிருந்தோம்” என்று நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் கூறுவார்கள், (அதற்கு நபியே! அவர்களிடம்) “அல்லாஹ்வையும் அவனது வசனங்களையும் அவனது தூதரையுமா நீங்கள் பரிகசித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தீர்கள்?” என்று நீர் கேட்பீராக!

If you ask them (about this), they declare: "We were only talking idly and joking." Say: "Was it at Allâh (عز وجل), and His Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations) and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) that you were mocking?"

“நீங்கள் (செய்யும் பரிகாசத்திற்கு வீண்) புகல் கூற வேண்டாம், உங்களின் விசுவாசத்திற்குப்பின்னர், திட்டமாக (அதனை) நீங்கள் நிராகரித்தே விட்டீர்கள், (ஆகவே) உங்களில் ஒரு கூட்டத்தினரை நாம் மன்னித்தபோதிலும், மற்றொரு கூட்டத்தினரை நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் குற்றவாளிகளாகவே இருப்பதனால், நாம் வேதனை செய்வோம்” (என்று நபியே! நீர் கூறுவீராக!

Make no excuse; you disbelieved after you had believed. If We pardon some of you, We will punish others amongst you because they were Mujrimûn (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals.).

முனாஃபிக்குகளான (வேஷதாரிகளான) ஆடவர்களும் முனாஃபிக்குகளான பெண்களும் அவர்களில் சிலர் சிலரைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் (-ஒத்த செயல்களையுடையவர்கள்,) அவர்கள் பாவமான காரியத்தை(ச் செய்யுமாறு பிறரை) ஏவுவார்கள், நன்மையை (ச் செய்வதை) விட்டும் (பிறறைத்) தடுப்பார்கள், (அல்லாஹ்வின் பாதையில் செலவு செய்யாது) தங்கள் கைகளை இறுக்கி (மூடி)யும் கொள்வார்கள், இவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வை மறந்தும் விட்டார்கள், ஆதலால், அவன் இவர்களை மறந்துவிட்டான், நிச்சயமாக இந்த முனாஃபிக்குகள் -அவர்கள் பாவிகள்.

The hypocrites, men and women, are one from another; they enjoin (on the people) Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief and polytheism of all kinds and all that Islâm has forbidden), and forbid (people) from Al-Ma‘rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm orders one to do), and they close their hands [from giving (spending in Allâh’s Cause) alms]. They have forgotten Allâh, so He has forgotten them. Verily, the hypocrites are the Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).

முனாஃபிக்குகளான (வேஷதாரிகளான) ஆடவர்களும் முனாஃபிக்குகளான பெண்களும் (அவ்வாறே மற்ற) நிராகரிப்போருக்கும் நரக நெருப்பையே அல்லாஹ் வாக்களித்திருக்கின்றான். அதில் அவர்கள் நிரந்தரமாகத் தங்கி இருப்பார்கள், அல்லாஹ் அவர்களைச் சபித்துவிட்டான், அவர்களுக்கு நிலையான வேதனையுமுண்டு.

Allâh has promised the hypocrites - men and women - and the disbelievers, the Fire of Hell; therein shall they abide. It will suffice them. Allâh has cursed them and for them is the lasting torment.

(முனாஃபிக்குகளே! நீங்கள்) உங்களுக்கு முன்னிருந்தவர்களைப் போன்றிருக்கிறீர்கள், அவர்கள் பலத்தால் உங்களைவிட மிகக் கடினமானவர்களாவும், செல்வங்களாலும், மக்களாலும் மிக அதிகமானவர்களாகவும் இருந்தார்கள், ஆகவே, (இவ்வுலகில்) தங்களுக்குக் கிடைத்த பங்கைக் கொண்டு அவர்கள் சுகமடைந்தார்கள், உங்களுக்கு முன்னிருந்த அவர்கள் தங்களுக்குக் கிடைத்த பங்கைக் கொண்டு (இவ்வுலகில்) சுகமடைந்தவாறே, நீங்களும் உங்களுக்கு கிடைத்த பங்கைக் கொண்டு சுகமடைந்து விட்டீர்கள், அவர்கள் (இவ்வுலக வாழ்வில்) மூழ்கிக்கிடந்தவாறே நீங்களும் மூழ்கிவிட்டீர்கள், அத்தகையோர்-அவர்களுடைய (நற்) செயல்கள் யாவும் இம்மையிலும், மறுமையிலும் அழிந்துவிட்டன, மேலும், அவர்கள் தாம் நஷ்டமடைந்தவர்கள்.

Like those before you: they were mightier than you in power, and more abundant in wealth and children. They had enjoyed their portion (awhile), so enjoy your portion (awhile) as those before you enjoyed their portion (awhile); and you indulged in play and pastime (and in telling lies against Allâh and His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) as they indulged in play and pastime. Such are they whose deeds are in vain in this world and in the Hereafter. Such are they who are the losers.

இவர்களுக்கு முன்னிருந்த (நபி)நூஹ் உடைய கூட்டத்தினர், ஆது, ஸமூது (வர்க்கத்தினர்) இப்ராஹீமுடைய கூட்டத்தினர் மத்யன் வாசிகள், தலைகீழாகப் புரட்டியடிக்கப்பட்ட ஊரார் ஆகியோரின் செய்தி அவர்களுக்கு வரவில்லையா? (நம்மால் அனுப்பப்பட்ட) அவர்களுடைய தூதர்கள் அவர்களிடம் தெளிவான அத்தாட்சிகளைக் கொண்டு வந்தனர், ஆகவே, அல்லாஹ் அவர்களுக்கு அநியாயம் செய்பவனாக இல்லை, எனினும், அவர்கள் தமக்குத் தாமே அநியாயம் செய்து கொண்டிருந்தனர்.

Has not the story reached them of those before them? - The people of Nûh (Noah), ‘Âd, and Thamûd, the people of Ibrâhîm (Abraham), the dwellers of Madyan (Midian) and the cities overthrown [i.e. the people to whom Lût (Lot) preached]; to them came their Messengers with clear proofs. So it was not Allâh Who wronged them, but they used to wrong themselves.

விசுவாசங்கொண்ட ஆண்களும், பெண்களும் அவர்களில் சிலர் சிலருக்கு உற்ற காரியஸ்தர்களாயிருக்கின்றனர், அவர்கள், (பிறரை) நன்மையைக் கொண்டு ஏவுகிறார்கள், (மார்க்கத்தில் மறுக்கப்பட்ட) தீமையைவிட்டும் விலக்குகிறார்கள், தொழுகையையும் நிறைவேற்றுகிறார்கள், ஜகாத்தையும் கொடுத்து வருகிறார்கள், அல்லாஹ்வுக்கும், அவனுடைய தூதருக்கும் கீழ்ப்பட்டு நடக்கிறார்கள், இத்தகையோர் அல்லாஹ் அவர்களுக்கு அருள்புரிவான்- நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ், யாவரையும் மிகைத்தவன், தீர்க்கமான அறிவுடையவன்.

The believers, men and women, are Auliyâ’ (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another; they enjoin (on the people) Al-Ma‘rûf (i.e. Islâmic Monotheism and all that Islâm orders one to do), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islâm has forbidden); they perform As-Salât (Iqâmat-as-Salât), and give the Zakât, and obey Allâh and His Messenger. Allâh will have His Mercy on them. Surely Allâh is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

விசுவாசங்கொண்ட ஆண்களுக்கும், விசுவாசங்கொண்ட பெண்களுக்கும் அல்லாஹ், சுவனங்களை வாக்களித்திருக்கின்றான், அவற்றின்கீழ் ஆறுகள் ஓடிக்கொண்டிருக்கும், அவர்கள், அவற்றிலேயே நிரந்தரமாக(த் தங்கி) இருப்பவர்கள், (‘அத்னு’ எனும் நிலையான சுவனங்களில் பரிசுத்தமான (அழகிய உயர்ந்த) குடியிருப்புகளையும் (அவன் வாக்களித்திருக்கின்றான்.) இன்னும், (இவை யாவற்றையும்விட) அல்லாஹ்விடமிருந்துள்ள பொருத்தம் மிகப் பெரியது, அதுதான் மகத்தான வெற்றியாகும்.

Allâh has promised the believers - men and women, - Gardens under which rivers flow to dwell therein forever, and beautiful mansions in Gardens of ‘Adn (Eden Paradise). But the greatest bliss is the Good Pleasure of Allâh. That is the supreme success.

நபியே! நிராகரிப்போருடனும் (வேஷதாரிகளான) முனாஃபிக்குகளுடனும் நீர் போரிடுவீராக! அவர்கள் மீது கண்டிப்பாகவும் நடந்து கொள்வீராக! அவர்கள் தங்குமிடம் நரகம்தான், சென்றடையுமிடத்தில் அது மிகவும் கெட்டது.

O Prophet (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم)! Strive hard against the disbelievers and the hypocrites, and be harsh against them, their abode is Hell, - and worst indeed is that destination.

நிராகரிப்பான வார்த்தையை திட்டமாகக் கூறியிருந்தும் தாங்கள் கூறவே இல்லை என்று அல்லாஹ்வைக் கொண்டு (முனாஃபிக்குகளாகிய) அவர்கள் சத்தியம் செய்கின்றனர், அன்றியும் இவர்கள் இஸ்லாத்தில் சேர்ந்ததன் பின்னர் (அதனை) நிராகரித்தும் இருக்கின்றனர், அவர்கள் அடைய முடியாததையும் நாடினார்கள், அல்லாஹ்வும், அவனுடைய தூதரும் அவனுடைய பேரருளைக் கொண்டு இவர்களைச் சீமான்களாக்கியதற்காகவே தவிர இவர்கள் (முஸ்லிம்களாகிய உங்களை) பழிவாங்கவில்லை, இனியேனும், இவர்கள் பச்சாதாபப்பட்(டு விலகிக் கொண்)டால் (அது) அவர்களுக்கே நன்மையாகும், அன்றியும் அவர்கள் புறக்கணித்தாலோ, இம்மையிலும், மறுமையிலும் அல்லாஹ் அவர்களை மிகத் துன்புறுத்தும் வேதனையாக வேதனை செய்வான், இன்னும், பாதுகாப்பவரோ, உதவி செய்பவரோ அவர்களுக்கு இப்பூமியில் (ஒருவரும்) இல்லை.

They swear by Allâh that they said nothing (bad), but really they said the word of disbelief, and they disbelieved after accepting Islâm, and they resolved that (plot to murder Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) which they were unable to carry out, and they could not find any cause to do so except that Allâh and His Messenger had enriched them of His Bounty. If then they repent, it will be better for them, but if they turn away, Allâh will punish them with a painful torment in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. And there is none for them on earth as a Walî (supporter, protector) or a helper.

இன்னும், “அல்லாஹ் தன் பேரருளிலிருந்து நமக்கு (செல்வத்தை)க்,கொடுத்தால், நிச்சயமாக நாம் தர்மம் செய்வோம், நிச்சயமாக நாம் நல்லடியார்களிலும் ஆகிவிடுவோம்” என்று அல்லாஹ்விடம் வாக்குறுதி செய்தவர்களும் அவர்களில் (சிலர்) இருக்கின்றனர்.

And of them are some who made a covenant with Allâh (saying): "If He bestowed on us of His Bounty, we will verily give Sadaqâh (Zakât and voluntary charity in Allâh’s Cause) and will be certainly among those who are righteous."

எனவே, அவன் அவர்களுக்குத் தன் பேரருளிலிருந்து நமக்கு (செல்வத்தை)க் கொடுத்தபொழுது அவர்கள் அதில் உலோபித்தனம் செய்தனர் - அவர்கள் (தங்கள் வாக்குறுதியைப்) புறக்கணித்தவர்களாகத் திரும்பியும் விட்டனர்.

Then when He gave them of His Bounty, they became niggardly [refused to pay the Sadaqâh (Zakât or voluntary charity)], and turned away, averse.

ஆகவே, அல்லாஹ்வுக்கு-அவனுக்கு வாக்களித்ததில், அவர்கள் அவனுக்கு மாறு செய்துகொண்டும், பொய் சொல்லிக் கொண்டுமிருந்ததன் காரணமாக அவனைச் சந்திக்கும் (இறுதி) நாள் வரையில் (தண்டனையாக) அவர்களுடைய இதயங்களில் அவர்களுக்கு நிஃபாக்கை (கபடத்தனத்தை)த் தொடருமாறு அவன் செய்து விட்டான்.

So He punished them by putting hypocrisy into their hearts till the Day whereon they shall meet Him, because they broke that (covenant with Allâh) which they had promised to Him and because they used to tell lies.

நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ், அவர்களுடைய இரகசியத்தையும் அவர்களுடைய இரகசிய ஆலோசனையையும் அறிவான் என்பதையும் இன்னும், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் மறைவானவற்றை மிக்க அறிந்தவன் என்பதையும் அவர்கள் அறியவில்லையா?

Know they not that Allâh knows their secret ideas, and their Najwa ¹ (secret counsels), and that Allâh is the All-Knower of things unseen.

இவர்கள் எத்தகையோரென்றால், விசுவாசிகளில் தாராளமாக தர்மம் செய்பவர்களையும், தங்களது உழைப்பைத் தவிர வேறு எதையும் (தர்மம் செய்வதற்கு பெறாதவர்களையும்) குறை கூறுகிறார்கள், பின்னர் அவர்களை ஏளன(மு)ம் செய்கிறார்கள், (விசுவாசிகளை ஏளனம் செய்யும்) அவர்களை அல்லாஹ் ஏளனம் செய்கின்றான், அன்றியும் (மறுமையில்) துன்புறுத்தும் வேதனையும் அவர்களுக்குண்டு.

Those who defame such of the believers who give charity (in Allâh’s Cause) voluntarily, and such who could not find to give charity (in Allâh’s Cause) except what is available to them - so they mock at them (believers); Allâh will throw back their mockery on them, and they shall have a painful torment.

(நபியே!) நீர் அவர்களுக்குப் பாவ மன்னிப்பைக் கோரும், அல்லது நீர் அவர்களுக்குப் பாவ மன்னிப்பைக் கோராமலிரும், (இரண்டும் சமம்தான். ஏனென்றால்,) அவர்களுக்காக நீர் எழுபது தடவை பாவ மன்னிப்பைக் கோரியபோதிலும் நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் அவர்களை மன்னிக்கவே மாட்டான், அது ஏனெனில் நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள், அல்லாஹ்வையும் அவனுடைய தூதரையும் (மனமுரண்டாக) நிராகரித்தார்கள் என்பதினாலாகும், அல்லாஹ் பாவம் செய்யும் (இத்தகைய) கூட்டத்தாரை நேர்வழியில் செலுத்தவுமாட்டான்.

Whether you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) ask forgiveness for them (hypocrites) or ask not forgiveness for them - (and even) if you ask seventy times for their forgiveness - Allâh will not forgive them because they have disbelieved in Allâh and His Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم). And Allâh guides not those people who are Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allâh).
