(வாக்களிக்கப்பட்டதான) அதனை (அவர்களுக்குச்) சமீபமாக அவர்கள் பார்த்துவிடும்போது அந்நிராகரித்தோருடைய முகங்கள் வேதனையால் (பேதலித்துக்) கெட்டுவிடும்; அன்றியும், (அவர்களிடம்) “நீங்கள் (எப்பொழுது வருமென்று அவசரமாகத்) தேடிக் கொண்டிருந்தீர்களே அத்தகையது இதுதான்” என்று கூறப்படும்.

But when they will see it (the torment on the Day of Resurrection) approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will change and turn black with sadness and in grief and it will be said (to them): "This is (the promise) which you were calling for!"

“என்னையும், என்னுடன் இருப்பவர்களையும் அல்லாஹ் அழித்துவிட்டாலும், அல்லது அவன் எங்களுக்கு அருள் செய்துவிட்டாலும், துன்புறுத்தும் வேதனையிலிருந்து நிராகரிப்போரைக் காப்பாற்றுபவர் யார்?” என்பதை எனக்குத் தெரிவியுங்கள்” என்று (நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக.

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Tell me! If Allâh destroys me, and those with me, or He bestows His Mercy on us - who can save the disbelievers from a painful torment?"

“அவன் தான் ரஹ்மான், அவனையே நாங்கள் விசுவாசித்திருக்கின்றோம், (எங்கள் காரியங்களை ஒப்படைத்து முழுமையாக) அவன் மீதே நம்பிக்கையும் வைத்திருக்கிறோம், ஆகவே, தெளிவான வழிகேட்டிலிருப்பவர் யாரென்பதை நீங்கள் அறிந்து கொள்வீர்கள்” என்று (நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக!

Say: "He is the Most Gracious (Allâh), in Him we believe, and in Him we put our trust. So you will come to know who it is that is in manifest error."

“உங்களுடைய தண்ணீர் (நீங்கள் பெறமுடியாதவாறு)) பூமியினுள் (இழுக்கப்பட்டு வெகு ஆழத்தில்) சென்றுவிட்டால், பொங்கி ஓடும் நீரை உங்களுக்குக் கொண்டு வருபவன் யார், என எனக்குத் தெரிவியுங்கள்” என்று (நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக!

Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Tell me! If (all) your water were to sink away, who then can supply you with flowing (spring) water?"

நூன், எழுதுகோலின்மீதும், (அதன்மூலம்) அவர்கள் எழுதுகிறவற்றின் மீதும் சத்தியமாக,

Nûn. [These letters (Nun, etc.) are one of the miracles of the Qur’an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. By the pen and by what they (the angels) write (in the Records of men).

(நபியே)! உமதிரட்சகனின் அருளால் நீர் பைத்தியக்காரர் அல்லர்.

You (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), by the Grace of your Lord, are not mad.

மேலும், நிச்சயமாக உமக்கு முடிவுறாத கூலி இருக்கின்றது.

And Verily, for you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) will be an endless reward.

(நபியே!) நிச்சயமாக மகத்தான நற்குணத்தின் மீதும் நீர் இருக்கின்றீர்.

And Verily, you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) are on an exalted (standard of) character.

நீரும் பார்ப்பீர், அவர்களும் பார்ப்பார்கள்.

You will see, and they will see,

(இருசாராராகிய) உங்களில் எவர் (பைத்தியமென்னும் நோயால்) சோதனைக்குள்ளாக்கப்பட்டவர் என்பதை-

Which of you is afflicted with madness.

நிச்சயமாக உமதிரட்சகன், அவன் வழியைவிட்டுத் தவறியவர் யார் என்பதை அவனே மிக அறிந்தவன், (அதுபோலவே) நேர் வழி அடைந்தோரையும் அவனே மிக அறிந்தவன்.

Verily, your Lord is the Best Knower of him who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Knower of those who are guided.

ஆகவே, (நபியே! உம்மைப்) பொய்யாக்கக் கூடியவர்களுக்கு நீர் கீழ்ப்படியாதீர்.

So (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) obey you not the deniers [(of Islâmic Monotheism - those who belie the Verses of Allâh), the Oneness of Allâh, and the Messengership of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم]¹

(அவர்களின் வணக்க வழிபாடுகளில் சலுகை அளித்து) நீர் தளர்த்தினால் (உமக்கு) அவர்களும் தளர்ந்து செல்வதை விரும்புகின்றனர்.

They wish that you should compromise (in religion out of courtesy) with them: so they (too) would compromise with you.

இழிந்தவனாக, அதிகமாக சத்தியம் செய்யக்கூடிய ஒவ்வொருவனுக்கும் நீர் கீழ்ப்படியாதீர்.

And (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) obey you not everyone Hallaf Mahîn (the one who swears much and is a liar or is worthless). [Tafsir At-Tabari]

(அவன் மனிதர்களின் தன்மானங்களில்) குறைபேசித் திரிபவன், கோள் சொல்லிக்கொண்டு நடப்பவன்.

A slanderer, going about with calumnies,

நன்மையானவற்றை அதிகமாகத் தடுத்துக்கொண்டிருப்பவன், வரம்பு மீறியவன், பாவம் செய்பவன்.

Hinderer of the good, transgressor, sinful,

முரட்டுச் சுபாவமுடையவன், அதற்குப் பிறகு (தந்தை பெயர் தெரியா) இழி பிறப்புடையவன்.

Cruel, and moreover base-born (of illegitimate birth).

(இத்தன்மையுடையவன்) செல்வமும், ஆண்மக்களும் உடையவனாக அவனிருக்கிறான் என்பதால், (அவனுக்கு நீர் கீழ்ப்படியாதீர்)

(He was so) because he had wealth and children.

நம் வசனங்கள் அவன் மீது ஓதிக்காண்பிக்கப்பட்டால், “(இது) முன்னோர்களின் கட்டுக்கதைகள்” என்று அவன் கூறுகின்றான்.

When Our Verses (of the Qur’ân) are recited to him, he says: "Tales of the men of old!"

அவனுடைய மூக்கின் மீது நாம் ஓர் அடையாளமிடுவோம்.

We shall brand him on the snout (nose)!
