நிச்சயமாக அவன்தான் (உங்களை) ஆண், பெண் ஜோடிகளாக படைக்கின்றான்.

And that He (Allâh) creates the pairs, male and female,

(ஒரு துளி) இந்திரியத்திலிருந்து அது (கர்ப்பத்தில்) ஊற்றப்படும்போது (உங்களை படைக்கின்றான்).

From Nutfah (drops of semen - male and female discharges) when it is emitted.

நிச்சயமாக (மரணித்த பின்னர்) மறுமுறை உயிர் கொடுத்து எழுப்புவதும், அவன் மீதே (பொறுப்பாக) இருக்கிறது.

And that upon Him (Allâh) is another bringing forth (Resurrection).

நிச்சயமாக அவன்தான் சீமானாக்குகிறான், இன்னும் (அவன் கொடுத்ததைக் கொண்டு) பொருத்திக் கொள்ளச் செய்கிறான்.

And that it is He (Allâh) Who gives much or a little (of wealth and contentment)

அன்றியும் நிச்சயமாக (மகத்தான நட்சத்திரமான) ஷிஃரா உடைய இரட்சகனும் அவன் தான்.

And that He (Allâh) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship).

நிச்சயமாக முந்தைய ஆ(து கூட்டத்)தை அழித்தவனும் அவன்தான்.

And that it is He (Allâh) Who destroyed the former ‘Âd (people),

இன்னும், ஸமூதையும் (அழித்தான், அவர்களில் ஒருவரையும்) அவன் விட்டு வைக்கவில்லை.

And Thamûd (people): He spared none of them.

(இவர்களுக்கு) முன்னர் நூஹ்வுடைய சமூகத்தாரையும், (அழித்தவன் அவன்தான்.) நிச்சயமாக, அவர்கள் தாம் பெரும் அநியாயக்காரர்களாக, மற்றும் மிகுந்த வரம்பு மீறியவர்களாக இருந்தார்கள்.

And the people of Nûh (Noah) aforetime. Verily, they were more unjust and more rebellious and transgressing [in disobeying Allâh and His Messenger Nûh (Noah) عليه السلام].

தலைகீழாக புரட்டப்பட்ட (லூத்தின் சமூகத்தார் வாழ்ந்த இடத்)தையும் அவன் (மேலாகத் தூக்கிக்) கீழே வீழ்த்தினான்.

And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lût (Lot) was sent].

(அவர்கள் அழிவுற்ற நேரத்தில்) அதனைச் சூழ்ந்துகொள்ள வேண்டிய (வேதனையான)து (முற்றிலும்) சூழ்ந்து கொண்டது.

So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones).

(ஆகவே, மறுமையை நிராகரிக்கும் மனிதனே) நீ உன் இரட்சகனின் அருட்கொடைகளில் எதனைத்தான் ஐயம் கொள்வாய்?

Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt?

இவர் முந்தைய எச்சரிக்கயாளர்களி(ன் இனத்தி)லுள்ள ஓர் எச்சரிக்கையாளரே.

This (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) is a warner (Messenger) of the (series of) warners (Messengers) of old.¹

நெருங்ககூடியது (-யுக முடிவு காலம்) நெருங்கிவிட்டது.

The Day of Resurrection draws near.

அல்லாஹ்வைத் தவிர அதனை வெளிப்படுத்தக்கூடியது எதுவும் இல்லை.

None besides Allâh can avert it (or advance it or delay it).

இச்செய்தியிலிருந்து நீங்கள் ஆச்சரியப்படுகின்றீர்களா?

Do you then wonder at this recitation (the Qur’ân)?

(இதனைப் பொருட்படுத்தாது) நீங்கள் சிரிக்கவும் செய்கின்றீர்கள்! நீங்கள் அழாமலுமிருக்கின்றீர்கள்!

And you laugh at it and weep not,

(இதனைப்பற்றி) நீங்கள் அலட்சியமுடையோராகவும் இருக்கின்றீர்கள்.

Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.).

ஆகவே, நீங்கள் அல்லாஹ்வுக்குச் சிரம்பணியுங்கள், மேலும் (அவனேயே) வணங்குங்கள்.

So fall you down in prostration to Allâh and worship Him (Alone).

மறுமைநாள் நெருங்கிவிட்டது, (அது பற்றித் தெரிவிக்க) சந்திரனும் பிளந்து விட்டது.

The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon).¹

1. Narrated Anas رضي الله عنه: The people of Makkah asked the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم to show them a sign (miracle). So he showed them (the miracle) of the cleaving of the moon. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.6, Hadîth No.390).

அவர்கள் எந்த அத்தாட்சியைக் கண்டபோதிலும், (அதனை) அவர்கள் புறக்கணித்துவிட்டு, இது (நாள்தோறும்) தொடர்ந்துவரும் சூனியம் என்றும் கூறுகின்றனர்.

And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic."

அன்றியும், அதனை அவர்கள் பொய்யாக்கிவிட்டனர், தங்களின் மனோ ஆசைகளையே பின்பற்றுகின்றனர், (அவர்கள் எவ்வாறு நடந்துகொண்ட போதிலும், வரவேண்டிய) ஒவ்வொரு காரியமும் (அதனதன் நேரத்தில்) நிலை பெறக்கூடியதாகும்.

They belied (the Verses of Allâh - this Qur’ân), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled (according to the kind of deeds: good deeds will take their doers to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell).

இன்னும், எதில் (அவர்களுக்கு) அச்சுறுத்தல் உண்டோ அத்தகைய செய்திகள், (இதற்கு முன்னரும்) திட்டமாக அவர்களுக்கு வந்திருக்கின்றன.

And indeed there has come to them news (in this Qur’ân) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil),

(இவ்வேதமானது பூரணமான) உச்சத்தை அடைந்துவிட்ட அறிவுகளுடையவை, ஆனால், எச்சரிக்கைகள் (இவர்களுக்கு) யாதொரு பயனுமளிக்கவில்லை.

Perfect wisdom (this Qur’ân), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not.

ஆகவே, (நபியே!) நீர் அவர்களைப் புறக்கணித்துவிடுவீராக! (இன்னும் இவர்கள்) வெறுக்கும் (அந்தகேள்விகணக்கு) விஷயத்திற்காக (இஸ்ராஃபீல் என்னும்) அழைப்பவர் அழைக்கும் நாளில்-

So (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing.
