3. Ali 'Imran

(நபியே! நீர் உம் குடும்பத்திலிருந்து அதிகாலையில் புறப்பட்டுச் சென்று) விசுவாசங் கொண்டவர்களை (உஹத் யுத்த களத்தில்) போருக்காக (அவரவருக்குரிய) இடங்களில் அமர்த்தி ஒழுங்குபடுத்திக்கொண்டிருந்ததை (நினைத்துப் பார்ப்பீராக! யாவற்றையும்) அல்லாஹ் செவியுறுகிறவன், உங்கள் இதயங்களில் இருப்பதை நன்கறிகிறவன்.

And (remember) when you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) left your household in the morning to post the believers at their stations for the battle (of Uhud). And Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

(அந்த யுத்தத்தில்) உங்களிலிருந்து இரு பிரிவினர் தைரியம் இழந்து (“உஹத்” என்னும் யுத்த களத்தை விட்டுச் சென்று) விட(லாமா என்று நாடிய சமயத்தில்) போர்க்களத்தில் அவர்களை அமர்த்திக் கொண்டிருந்தீர், மேலும் அல்லாஹ் அவ்விருசாராருக்கும் உதவியாளன், இன்னும் அல்லாஹ்வின் மீதே விசுவாசிகள் (தங்கள் காரியங்களை ஒப்படைத்து முழுமையாக) நம்பிக்கை வைக்கவும்.

When two parties from among you were about to lose heart, but Allâh was their Walî (Supporter and Protector). And in Allâh should the believers put their trust.

பத்ரில் (நடந்த யுத்தத்தில்) நீங்கள் (எண்ணிக்கையிலும், ஆயுத பலத்திலும் மிகக்) குறைந்தவர்களாகயிருந்த சமயத்தில் நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் உங்களுக்கு உதவி செய்தான், ஆகவே, நீங்கள் நன்றி செலுத்துவதற்காக அல்லாஹ்வுக்கு பயந்து நடந்து கொள்ளுங்கள்.

And Allâh has already made you victorious at Badr, when you were a weak little force. So fear Allâh much¹ that you may be grateful.

1. i.e. abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden and love Allâh much, perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained.

(நபியே!) விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரிடம், “(வானத்திலிருந்து) இறக்கி வைக்கப்பட்ட மூவாயிரம் மலக்குகளைக் கொண்டு, உங்கள் இரட்சகன் உங்களுக்கு உதவி செய்வது உங்களுக்குப் போதாதா?” என்று நீர் கூறியதையும் நினைவுகூர்வீராக!

(Remember) when you (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) said to the believers, "Is it not enough for you that your Lord (Allâh) should help you with three thousand angels sent down?"

“ஆம், நீங்கள் பொறுமையுடனிருந்து (அல்லாஹ்வுக்கு) பயந்தும் கொள்வீர்களானால், அந்நேரத்திலேயே உங்களிடம் (உங்களைத்தாக்க) அவர்கள் வந்தபோதிலும், (மூவாயிரமென்ன?) போர்க்குறிகள் கொண்டவர்களான மலக்குகளில் ஐயாயிரத்தைக் கொண்டு உங்கள் இரட்சகன் உங்களுக்கு உதவி செய்வான்”

"Yes, if you hold on to patience and piety, and the enemy comes rushing at you; your Lord will help you with five thousand angels having marks (of distinction)."

உங்களுக்கு ஒரு நன்மாராயமாகவும், இதைக் கொண்டு உங்களுடைய இதயங்கள் திருப்தியடைவதற்காகவுமே, தவிர அல்லாஹ் இதை ஆக்கவில்லை, இன்னும் மிகைத்தோன், தீர்க்கமான அறிவுடையோன், ஆகிய அல்லாஹ்விடமிருந்தே தவிர உதவி (உங்களுக்கு) இல்லை.

Allâh made it not but as a message of good news for you and as an assurance to your hearts. And there is no victory except from Allâh, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

(அவன் உங்களுக்கு இவ்வுதவி புரிந்ததன் நோக்கம்) நிராகரிப்போரில் ஒரு பகுதியினரை அழித்துவிடுவதற்காக, அல்லது அவர்களைச் சிறுமைபடுத்துவதற்காகவேயாகும், அப்போது அவர்கள் நஷ்டமடைந்தவர்களாக (ஏமாந்து) திரும்பிச் சென்று விடுவர்.

That He might cut off a part of those who disbelieve, or expose them to infamy, so that they retire frustrated.

(நபியே!) இக்காரியத்தில் (நாம் கட்டளையிட்டதைத் தவிர) உமக்கு யாதோர் அதிகாரமுமில்லை, ஒன்று அவன் அவர்களின் தவ்பாவை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளலாம், அல்லது அவர்களை வேதனையும் செய்யலாம், அதன் காரணம், நிச்சயமாக அவர்கள் அநியாயக்காரர்களாவர்.

Not for you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, but for Allâh) is the decision; whether He turns in mercy to (pardons) them or punishes them; verily, they are the Zâlimûn (polytheists, disobedients, and wrong-doers).

வானங்களிலுள்ளவை, மற்றும் பூமியிலுள்ளவை அல்லாஹ்வுக்கே உரியவை, அவன் நாடியவருக்கு மன்னிப்பளிப்பான்; இன்னும் அவன் நாடியவரை வேதனை செய்வான், அல்லாஹ்வோ மிக்க மன்னிப்பவன். மிக கிருபையுடையவன்.

And to Allâh belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. He forgives whom He wills, and punishes whom He wills. And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரே! அசலுக்கு அதிகமாகவும் வட்டிக்கு வட்டியாகவும் இரட்டிப்பாக்கப்பட்டு பன்மடங்காக்கப்பட்ட நிலையில் வட்டியை உண்ணாதீர்கள், இன்னும் அல்லாஹ்வுக்குப் பயந்து கொள்ளுங்கள், (இதனைத் தவிர்த்துக்கொண்டால்) நீங்கள் வெற்றியடைவீர்கள்.

O you who believe! Eat not Ribâ (usury)¹ doubled and multiplied, but fear Allâh that you may be successful.

இன்னும் (நரக நெருப்பிற்குப் பயந்து கொள்ளுங்கள்.) அது எத்தகையதென்றால் நிராகரிப்போருக்காகத் தயார் படுத்தப்பட்டுள்ளது.

And fear the Fire, which is prepared for the disbelievers.

அல்லாஹ்வுக்கும், (அவனுடைய) தூதருக்கும் கீழ்ப்படியுங்கள், (அதனால்) நீங்கள் (அல்லாஹ்வின்) கிருபைக்குள்ளாக்கப்படுவீர்கள்.

And obey Allâh and the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) that you may obtain mercy.¹

உங்கள் இரட்சகனின் மன்னிப்பின்பாலும், சுவனபதியின்பாலும் விரைந்து கொள்ளுங்கள், அதன் அகலமாகிறது வானங்களும், பூமியுமாகும், அது பயபக்தியுடையவர்களுக்காக(வே) தயார் செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.

And march forth in the way (which leads to) forgiveness from your Lord, and for Paradise as wide as the heavens and the earth, prepared for Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - See V.2:2).

அவர்கள் எத்தகையோரென்றால், செல்வ நிலையிலும், வறுமை நிலையிலும் செலவு செய்து கொண்டிருப்பார்கள், கோபத்தையும் அடக்கிக்கொள்ளக் கூடியவர்கள், மனிதர்(களின் குற்றங்)களையும் மன்னித்து விடக்கூடியவர்கள், அல்லாஹ்வோ (இத்தகைய) நன்மை செய்வோரை நேசிக்கின்றான்.

Those who spend (in Allâh’s Cause) in prosperity and in adversity¹, who repress anger², and who pardon men; verily, Allâh loves Al-Muhsinûn ³ (the good-doers).

   Narrated Abu Hurairahرضي الله عنه : The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, "Charity is obligatory everyday on every joint of a human being".* If one helps a person in matters concerning his riding animal by helping him to ride on it or by lifting his luggage on to it, all this will be regarded as charity. A good word, and every step one takes to offer the compulsory congregational prayer is regarded as charity; and guiding somebody on the road is regarded as charity." (Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.4, Hadîth No.141).

   * To show gratitude to Allâh for keeping your body safe and sound, you should give in charity or do charitable deeds.

2. Narrated Abu Hurairahرضي الله عنه: Allâh’s Messenger(صلى الله عليه وسلم) said, "The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one who controls himself while in anger." (Sahih Al-Bukhâri, Vol.8, Hadîth No.135).

3. Al-Muhsinûn: Doers of good, those who perform good deeds totally for Allâh’s sake only without any show-off or to gain praise or fame and they do them in accordance with the Sunnah (legal ways) of Allâh’s Messenger, Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم).

இன்னும் அவர்கள் எத்தகையோரென்றால், யாதொரு மானக்கேடான காரியத்தை அவர்கள் செய்து விட்டால், அல்லது (ஏதும் பாவமிழைத்துத்) தங்களுக்குத் தாங்களே அநீதமிழைத்துக் கொண்டால், (உடனே) அல்லாஹ்வை நினைவு கூர்வார்கள், இன்னும் (அவனிடமே) தங்களுடைய பாவங்களுக்காக மன்னிக்கத்தேடுவார்கள், (அல்லாஹ்வும் அவர்களை மன்னித்து விடுவான்) அல்லாஹ்வைத் தவிர, (இத்தகையோரின்) குற்றங்களை மன்னிப்பவனும் யார்? அவர்கள் செய்த (தவறான) காரியத்தை(த்தவறென்று) அவர்கள் அறிந்து கொண்டே, (அதில்) நிலைத்திருக்கவுமாட்டார்கள். (உடனே அதிலிருந்து விலகி விடுவார்கள்).

And those who, when they have committed Fâhishah (illegal sexual intercourse) or wronged themselves with evil, remember Allâh and ask forgiveness for their sins; - and none can forgive sins but Allâh - and do not persist in what (wrong) they have done, while they know.¹

அத்தகையோர் - அவர்களுடைய கூலி அவர்களுடைய இரட்சகனிடமிருந்து மன்னிப்பு, மற்றும் சுவனபதிகாளாகும், இவற்றின் கீழ் ஆறுகள் ஓடிக் கொண்டிருக்கும், அவர்கள் அவற்றில் நிரந்தரமாக (த்தங்கி) இருப்பவர்கள், (இத்தகு) காரியங்கள் செய்தோரின் கூலி அது மிக நல்லது.

For such, the reward is Forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens with rivers flowing underneath (Paradise), wherein they shall abide forever. How excellent is this reward for the doers (who do righteous deeds according to Allâh’s Orders).

திட்டமாக உங்களுக்கு முன்னரும் (இத்தகைய) பலவழிமுறைகள் சென்றிருக்கின்றன, ஆகவே, நீங்கள் பூமியில் சுற்றித்திரிந்து (அல்லாஹ்வுடைய வசனங்களைப்) பொய்யாக்கியோரின் முடிவு எப்படி இருந்தது என்பதைப் பாருங்கள்.

Many similar ways (and mishaps of life) were faced by nations (believers and disbelievers) that have passed away before you (as you have faced in the battle of Uhud), so travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those who disbelieved (in the Oneness of Allâh, and disobeyed Him and His Messengers).

இது, (பொதுவாக) மனிதர்களுக்கு (உண்மை) விளக்கமாகவும், (குறிப்பாக) பயபக்தியுடையோர்களுக்கு நேர் வழிகாட்டியாகவும், நல்லுபதேசமாகவும் இருக்கிறது.

This (the Qur’ân) is a plain statement for mankind, a guidance and instruction to those who are Al-Muttaqûn (the pious - See V.2:2).

(விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரே!) நீங்கள் தைரியத்தை இழந்துவிட வேண்டாம், கவலையும் பட வேண்டாம், (உண்மையாகவே) நீங்கள் விசுவாசங் கொண்டவர்களாக இருந்தால், நீங்கள் தாம் மிக்க மேலானவர்கள்.

So do not become weak (against your enemy), nor be sad, and you will be superior (in victory) if you are indeed (true) believers.

உங்களுக்கு (உஹதுப்போரில் தோல்வியுற்றுக்) காயம் ஏற்பட்டதென்றால் (அதைப் பற்றி அதைரியமடையாதீர்கள், ஏனென்றால்,) அந்த ஜனங்களுக்கும், இதைப் போன்றே (பத்ரில் தோல்வியுற்றுக்) காயம் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது, அந்த (சோதனையான) நாட்களை மனிதர்களுக்கிடையில் மாறி மாறி வரும்படி நாம் செய்கின்றோம், ஏனென்றால், (உங்களில்) உண்மையாகவே விசுவாசங் கொண்டவர்கள் யாரென்று அல்லாஹ் அறிவித்து விடு)வதற்காகவும், உங்களில் (மார்க்கத்திற்காக உயிரைத் தத்தம் செய்யும் மாபெரும்) தியாகிகளை அவன் எடு(த்தறிவி)ப்பதற்காகவுமே இவ்வாறு செய்கின்றான்). இன்னும், அநியாயக்காரர்களை அல்லாஹ் நேசிக்க மாட்டான்.

If a wound (and killing) has touched you, be sure a similar wound (and killing) has touched the others. And so are the days (good and not so good), We give to men by turns, that Allâh may test those who believe, and that He may take martyrs from among you. And Allâh likes not the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers).

விசுவாசங்கொண்டிருந்தார்களே, அவர்களை அல்லாஹ் பரிசுத்தமாக்குவதற்காகவும், நிராகரிப்போர்களை அழிப்பதற்காகவும் (இவ்வாறு செய்கின்றான்).

And that Allâh may test (or purify) the believers (from sins) and destroy the disbelievers.

(விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரே!) உங்களில் (அல்லாஹ்வுக்காக) யுத்தம் செய்பவர்கள் யார் என்பதை அல்லாஹ் பரிசோதித்து அறியாமலும் இன்னும் (துன்பங்களைப் பொறுமையுடன்) சகித்துக் கொள்பவர்கள் யார், என்பதை அவன் அறியாமலும் நீங்கள் சுவனபதியில் நுழைந்து விடலாமென்று எண்ணிக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றீர்களா?

Do you think that you will enter Paradise before Allâh tests those of you who fought (in His Cause) and (also) tests those who are As-Sâbirûn (the patient)?

மேலும், நீங்கள் மரணத்தை – அதை நீங்கள் சந்திப்பதற்கு முன்னதாக திட்டமாக ஆசிக்கக் கூடியவர்களாக இருந்தீர்கள், ஆகவே (கண்ணுக்கெதிரில்) நீங்கள் கண்டவர்களாக இருக்க, அதை திட்டமாக நீங்கள் பார்த்து விட்டீர்கள், (எனவே, இந்த யுத்தத்தில் ஏன் தயங்குகின்றீர்கள்?)

You did indeed wish for death (Ash-Shahâdah - martyrdom) before you met it. Now you have seen it openly with your own eyes.

இன்னும், முஹம்மது ஒரு தூதரேயன்றி (இறக்காமல் இருக்கக்கூடியவர்) இல்லை, அவருக்கு முன்னரும், (இவ்வாறே) தூதர்கள் பலர் திட்டமாகச் சென்றிருக்கின்றனர், அவர் இறந்துவிட்டால் அல்லது கொல்லப்பட்டுவிட்டால் நீங்கள் உங்கள் குதிங்கால்களின் மேல் (புறங்காட்டித்)திரும்பிச் சென்று) விடுவீர்களா? (அவ்வாறு) எவரேனும் தனது இரு குதிங்கால்களின் மீது (புறங்காட்டித்)திரும்பிச் சென்று) விட்டால், அதனால் அவர் அல்லாஹ்வுக்கு எந்த இடையூரும் செய்யவேமாட்டார், மேலும், நன்றி செலுத்துவோருக்கு அல்லாஹ் (நற்)கூலியைத் தருவான்.

Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is no more than a Messenger, and indeed (many) Messengers have passed away before him. If he dies or is killed, will you then turn back on your heels (as disbelievers)? And he who turns back on his heels, not the least harm will he do to Allâh; and Allâh will give reward to those who are grateful.

மேலும், எந்த ஆன்மாவுக்கும் ஏற்கனவே (அதற்கு) நேரம் குறிக்கப்பட்ட (அல்லாஹ்வின்) எழுத்துப்படி, அல்லாஹ்வின் கட்டளையைக் கொண்டே தவிர, அது மரணிப்பதற்கில்லை, மேலும், எவர் (தன் செயலுக்கு) இவ்வுலகத்தின் நன்மையை நாடுகிறாரோ) அவருக்கு, அதிலிருந்தே வழங்குவோம், இன்னும் எவர் மறுமையின் நன்மையை நாடுகிறாரோ அவருக்கு அதிலிருந்தே வழங்குவோம், நன்றி செலுத்துவோருக்கு நாம் நற்கூலியும் அளிப்போம்.

And no person can ever die except by Allâh’s Leave and at an appointed term. And whoever desires a reward in (this) world, We shall give him of it; and whoever desires a reward in the Hereafter, We shall give him thereof. And We shall reward the grateful.

மேலும், எத்தனையோ நபிமார்கள், அவர்களுடன் அல்லாஹ்வின் நல்லடியார்கள் கொண்ட அநேகம்பேர் சேர்ந்து (அல்லாஹ்வின் பாதையில்) யுத்தம் செய்திருக்கின்றனர், ஆனால் அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வின் பாதையில் (யுத்தம் செய்ததனால்) தங்களுக்கு (துன்பங்கள்) ஏற்பட்டவற்றின் காரணமாக அவர்கள் தைரியமிழந்துவிடவில்லை, பலவீவனமடைந்துவிடவுமில்லை, (எதிரிகளுக்கு) ஐக்கியப்பட்டுவிடவுமில்லை, மேலும், (இவ்வாறு துன்பங்களைச் சகித்துக் கொள்ளும்) பொறுமையாளர்களை அல்லாஹ் நேசிக்கின்றான்.

And many a Prophet (i.e. many from amongst the Prophets) fought (in Allâh’s Cause) and along with him (fought) large bands of religious learned men. But they never lost heart for that which did befall them in Allâh’s Way, nor did they weaken nor degrade themselves. And Allâh loves As-Sâbirûn (the patient).

(இத்தகைய சந்தர்ப்பங்களில், அவர்கள் தங்கள் இரட்சகனிடம்,) “எங்கள் இரட்சகனே! எங்கள் பாவங்களையும், எங்கள் செயல்களில் நாங்கள் வரம்புமீறிய (குற்றத்)தையும் நீ எங்களுக்கு மன்னிப்பாயாக! எங்கள் பாதங்களை (யுத்தத்தில் நழுவாது) நீ உறுதிப்படுத்தியும் வைப்பாயாக! (உன்னை) நிராகரிக்கும் சமுதாயத்தினர்க்கு எதிராக (வெற்றி கொள்ள) நீ எங்களுக்கு உதவியும் புரிவாயாக” என்று அவர்கள் (பிரார்த்தித்துக்) கூறியதைத் தவிர (வேறொன்றும்) அவர்களின் கூற்றாக இருக்கவில்லை.

And they said nothing but: "Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and our transgressions (in keeping our duties to You), establish our feet firmly, and give us victory over the disbelieving folk."

ஆதலால், அவர்களுக்கு இவ்வுலகத்தின் நன்மையையும் மறுமையின் நன்மையில் அழகானதையும் கொடுத்தான், இன்னும் அல்லாஹ் (இத்தகைய) நற்கருமங்கள் செய்வோரை நேசிக்கின்றான்.

So Allâh gave them the reward of this world, and the excellent reward of the Hereafter. And Allâh loves Al-Muhsinûn (the good-doers - See the footnote of V.3:134 and of V.9:120).

விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரே! (அல்லாஹ்வை) நிராகரிப்போருக்கு நீங்கள் கீழ்படிந்து நடந்தால் அவர்கள் உங்களை (உங்கள் விசுவாசத்திலிருந்து நீங்கள் விலகி) குதிங்கால்களின் மீது (பின் செல்லும்படி) திருப்பிவிடுவார்கள், அதனால் நீங்கள் நஷ்டமடைந்தவர்களாகத் திரும்பிவிடுவீர்கள்.

O you who believe! If you obey those who disbelieve, they will send you back on your heels, and you will turn back (from Faith) as losers.¹

   What is said about residence (staying) in the land of Ash-Shirk (polytheism i.e. the land where polytheism is practised). Narrated Samurah bin Jundubرضي الله عنه: Allâh’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "Anybody (from among the Muslims) who meets, gathers together, lives, and stays (permanently) with a Mushrik (polytheist or a disbeliever in the Oneness of Allâh, etc.) and agrees to his ways, opinion, etc. and (enjoys) his living with him (Mushrik) then he (that Muslim) is like him (Mushrik). (This Hadîth indicates that a Muslim should not stay in a non-Muslim country, he must emigrate to a Muslim country, where Islâm is practised.)" [The Book of Jihâd, Abu Dâwûd].

(இவர்கள் அல்ல, அல்லாஹ்தான்) உங்கள் பாதுகாவலன், இன்னும், அவனே உதவிசெய்வோரில் மிகச்சிறந்தவன்.

Nay, Allâh is your Maulâ (Patron, Lord, Helper, Protector), and He is the Best of helpers.

எதற்கு அவன் சான்றை இறக்கி வைக்கவில்லையோ, அதை அவர்கள் அல்லாஹ்வுக்கு இணைவைத்ததன் காரணமாக நிராகரித்து விட்டார்களே, அவர்களுடைய இதயங்களில், நாம் திகிலைப் போடுவோம், அன்றியும் அவர்கள் தங்குமிடம் நரகந்தான், மேலும், இந்த அநியாயக்காரர்களின் தங்குமிடம் (அது) மிகக் கெட்டது.

We shall cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, because they joined others in worship with Allâh, for which He had sent no authority; their abode will be the Fire and how evil is the abode of the Zâlimûn (polytheists and wrong-doers).

இன்னும், அவன் அனுமதிகொண்டு (எதிரிகளாகிய) அவர்களை நீங்கள் கொன்றழித்த சமயத்தில் அல்லாஹ் திட்டமாக தனது வாக்குறுதியை உங்களுக்கு உண்மையாக்கி வைத்தான், முடிவாக நீங்கள் கோழைகளாகி உங்களுக்கிடப்பட்ட கட்டளையில் தர்க்கித்துக் கொண்டுமிருந்தீர்கள், நீங்கள் எதை விரும்பினீர்களோ அதை அவன் உங்களுக்குக் காட்டிய பிறகும் மாறு செய்யலானீர்கள், உங்களில் இம்மையை விரும்புவோரும் உண்டு, உங்களில் மறுமையை விரும்புவோரும் உண்டு, பின்னர் உங்களைச் சோதிப்பதற்காக அவ்வெதிரிகளை விட்டும் உங்களைத் திருப்பினான், மேலும், திட்டமாக அவன் உங்களுடைய குற்றங்களை மன்னித்துவிட்டான். அல்லாஹ்வே விசுவாசிகள் மீது பேரருளுடையவன்.

And Allâh did indeed fulfil His Promise to you when you were killing them (your enemy) with His Permission; until (the moment) you lost your courage and fell to disputing about the order, and disobeyed after He showed you (of the booty) which you love. Among you are some that desire this world and some that desire the Hereafter. Then He made you flee from them (your enemy), that He might test you. But surely, He forgave you, and Allâh is Most Gracious to the believers.

(உஹத் யுத்தத்தில் அல்லாஹ்வுடைய) தூதர் உங்கள் பின்னிருந்துக்கொண்டு (“என்னிடம் வாருங்கள்” என்று) உங்களை அழைத்துக் கொண்டிருந்த சமயத்தில்) நீங்கள் ஒருவரையுமே திரும்பிப் பாராது (வெருண்டோடி மலையில்) ஏறிக்கொண்டிருந்ததை (நினைத்துப் பாருங்கள், அல்லாஹ்வின் தூதருக்கு நீங்கள் உண்டு பண்ணிய இத்) துக்கத்தின் காரணமாக, உங்களுக்கும் (தோல்வியின்) துக்கத்தையே பிரதிபலனாகக் கொடுத்தான், ஏனென்றால் (இனி) உங்களுக்கு எது தவறிவிட்டதோ, அதன் மீதும், உங்களுக்கு எது ஏற்பட்டுவிட்டதோ, அதன் மீதும் நீங்கள் கவலை கொள்ளாதிருப்பதற்காகவேயாகும், மேலும், நீங்கள் செய்பவற்றையெல்லாம் அல்லாஹ் நன்கு உணர்பவன்.

(And remember) when you ran away (dreadfully) without even casting a side glance at anyone, and the Messenger (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) was in your rear calling you back. There did Allâh give you one distress after another by way of requital to teach you not to grieve for that which had escaped you, nor for that which had befallen you. And Allâh is Well-Aware of all that you do.

பிறகு, விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரே! இத்துக்கத்திற்குப் பின்னர், (அல்லாஹ்வாகிய) அவன் உங்களுக்கு அமைதியை அளிக்கக் கூடிய சிறு தூக்கத்தை இறக்கி வைத்தான், உங்களில் ஒரு கூட்டத்தினரை அது சூழ்ந்து கொண்டது, மற்றதொரு கூட்டத்தினரோ, திட்டமாக அவர்களுடைய மனங்கள் அவர்களுக்கு கவலையை ஏற்படுத்தி விட்டன, அறியாமைக் காலத்தின் எண்ணம் போல, அல்லாஹ்வைப் பற்றி உண்மை அல்லாததை (தவறாக) எண்ண ஆரம்பித்து “காரியத்தில் நமக்கேதும் உண்டா?” என்று அவர்கள் கூறினர், (அதற்கு) “நிச்சயமாக காரியம்-அது அனைத்தும் அல்லாஹ்வுக்குரியனவே” என்று (நபியே!) நீர் கூறுவீராக! (இவையன்றி) அவர்கள் உமக்கு வெளியிடாததை தங்கள் மனங்களில் மறைத்திருக்கின்றனர், நம்மிடம் ஏதும் அதிகாரம் இருந்திருந்தால் இங்கு வந்து (இவ்வாறு) நாம் கொல்லப்பட்டிருக்க மாட்டோம்” எனக் கூறுகின்றனர், (இதற்கு நபியே! அந்த முனாஃபிக்குகளிடம்) நீர் கூறுவீராக! “நீங்கள் உங்கள் வீடுகளில் (தங்கி) இருந்திருந்த போதிலும் கொல்லப்பட்டே இறக்க வேண்டுமென்று எவர்கள்மீது விதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதோ அவர்கள், தாங்கள் (கொல்லப்பட்டு) விழ வேண்டிய இடங்களுக்கு(த் தாமாக) வந்தே இருப்பார்கள்” உங்கள் நெஞ்சங்களிலுள்ளவற்றை அல்லாஹ் பரிசோதனை செய்வதற்காகவும், உங்கள் இதயங்களில் உள்ளவற்றைச் சுத்தப்படுத்தி விடுவதற்காகவும் (இவ்வாறு சம்பவிக்கும்படி செய்தான்), மேலும், (உங்கள்) நெஞ்சங்களிலுள்ளவற்றை அல்லாஹ் நன்கறிகிறவன்.

Then after the distress, He sent down security for you. Slumber overtook a party of you, while another party was thinking about themselves (as how to save their ownselves, ignoring the others and the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم) and thought wrongly of Allâh - the thought of ignorance. They said, "Have we any part in the affair?" Say (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): "Indeed the affair belongs wholly to Allâh." They hide within themselves what they dare not reveal to you, saying: "If we had anything to do with the affair, none of us would have been killed here." Say: "Even if you had remained in your homes, those for whom death was decreed would certainly have gone forth to the place of their death," but that Allâh might test what is in your breasts; and to purify ¹ that which was in your hearts (sins), and Allâh is All-Knower of what is in (your) breasts.

1. The Arabic word yumahhis has three meanings: (1) To test, (2) To purify, (3) To get rid of (TafsirAl-Qurtubi ).

(விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரே!) இரு கூட்டத்தாரும் (போர்முனையில்) சந்தித்த நாளில் உங்களில் (அதிலிருந்து) திரும்பிவிட்டார்களே அவர்கள்- அவர்கள் சம்பாதித்துக்கொண்ட (தீவினைகள்) சிலவற்றின் காரணமாக - அவர்களை (அதிலிருந்து திரும்பி)ச் சறுகுமாறு செய்ததெல்லாம் ஷைத்தானே. திட்டமாக அல்லாஹ் அவர்(களின் குற்றங்)களை மன்னித்தும் விட்டான், நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் மிக்க மன்னிக்கிறவன், சகிப்புத் தன்மையுடையவன்.

Those of you who turned back on the day the two hosts met (i.e. the battle of Uhud), it was Shaitân (Satan) who caused them to backslide (run away from the battlefield) because of some (sins) they had earned. But Allâh, indeed, has forgiven them. Surely, Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Forbearing.

விசுவாசங்கொண்டோரே! நிராகரித்துக்கொண்டிருப்போரைப் போல் நீங்கள் ஆகிவிட வேண்டாம், அவர்கள், பூமியில் பிரயாணம் செய்தோ, அல்லது யுத்தம் செய்வோராகவோ இருந்து (இறந்து)விட்ட தங்கள் சகோதரர்களைப் பற்றி “அவர்கள் நம்மிடமே இருந்திருந்தால், அவர்கள் இறந்திருக்கவுமாட்டார்கள், கொல்லப்படடிருக்கவுமாட்டார்கள்” என்று கூறுகின்றனர், அவர்களுடைய இதயங்களில், (என்றென்றுமே) இதை ஒரு (கடும்) துக்கமாக்குவதற்காகவே இவ்வாறு (அவர்கள் நினைக்கும்படி) அல்லாஹ் செய்கின்றான், அல்லாஹ்வே உயிர் கொடுக்கின்றான், அவனே மரணிக்கச் செய்கின்றான், மேலும், நீங்கள் செய்பவற்றை அல்லாஹ் பார்க்கிறவன்.

O you who believe! Be not like those who disbelieve (hypocrites) and who say to their brethren when they travel through the earth or go out to fight: "If they had stayed with us, they would not have died or been killed," so that Allâh may make it a cause of regret in their hearts. It is Allâh that gives life and causes death. And Allâh is All-Seer of what you do.

அல்லாஹ்வின் பாதையில் நீங்கள் கொல்லப்பட்டாலும், அல்லது இறந்துவிட்டாலும் (அதற்காக) நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ்விடம் கிடைக்கும் மன்னிப்பும் (அவனுடைய) அருளும், அவர்கள் சேகரித்து வைத்திருப்பவைகளைவிட மிக மேலானதாகும்.

And if you are killed or die in the Way of Allâh, forgiveness and mercy from Allâh are far better than all that they amass (of worldly wealths).

நீங்கள் (அல்லாஹ்வுடைய பாதையில்) இறந்து விட்டாலும் அல்லது கொல்லப் பட்டாலும் (கூட) நிச்சயமாக நீங்கள் அல்லாஹ்விடமே ஒன்றுதிரட்டப்படுவீர்கள்.

And whether you die, or are killed, verily, unto Allâh you shall be gathered.

(நபியே!) அல்லாஹ்வுடைய அருளின் காரணமாகவே நீர் அவர்களிடம் மென்மையாக (இரக்கமுள்ளவராக) நடந்து கொள்கிறீர், மேலும், சொல்லில் கடுகடுப்பானவராக இரக்கமற்ற இதயமுள்ளவராக நீர் இருந்திருப்பீரானால், உம்மிடமிருந்து அவர்கள் பிரிந்து சென்றிருப்பார்கள், ஆகவே, அவர்(களின் பிழை)களை நீர் மன்னித்து, (அல்லாஹ்விடம்) அவர்களுக்காக மன்னிக்க கோருவீராக! மேலும் (யுத்தம், சமாதானம் முதலிய மற்ற) காரியத்தில் அவர்களுடன் கலந்தாலோசனை செய்வீராக! (யாதொரு காரியத்தை) நீர் முடிவு செய்தால், அல்லாஹ்வின் மீது நீர் (உம்முடைய காரியங்களை ஒப்படைத்து முழுமையாக) நம்பிக்கை வைப்பீராக! (ஏனென்றால்) நிச்சயமாக அல்லாஹ் (தம் காரியங்களை அவனிடம் ஒப்படைத்து முழுமையாக) நம்பிக்கை வைப்போரை நேசிக்கின்றான்.

And by the Mercy of Allâh, you dealt with them gently. And had you been severe and harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about you; so pass over (their faults), and ask (Allâh’s) Forgiveness for them; and consult them in the affairs. Then when you have taken a decision, put your trust in Allâh, certainly, Allâh loves those who put their trust (in Him).

(விசுவாசிகளே!) உங்களுக்கு உதவிசெய்தால், உங்களை மிகைப்பவர் எவருமில்லை, உங்களை அவன் (உதவிசெய்யாது) விட்டுவிட்டாலோ, அதற்குப் பின்னர், உங்களுக்கு உதவி செய்பவர் யார்? இன்னும் அல்லாஹ்வின் மீதே விசுவாசிகள் (தங்களின் காரியங்களை ஒப்படைத்து முழுமையாக) நம்பிக்கை வைக்கவும்.

If Allâh helps you, none can overcome you; and if He forsakes you, who is there after Him that can help you? And in Allâh (Alone) let believers put their trust.
